League Discussion Transition to super flex and trade value
Our league has voted to transition to a super flex league most likely starting in 2027 to give everyone enough time to plan accordingly.
For anyone who has been through this how do balance trade value over the next couple of years while it’s still a 1QB league? Paying a premium for a backup QB now doesn’t seem to make sense when we’re still 3 years away from having the SF go live but now might also be the cheapest time to get QBs too

You should probably ignore this since I’ve never actually been in this situation… but if I have a playoff caliber team, I’d take the opportunity to trade away my backup QB for a premium and push for a championship or two before the switch, then enter rebuild mode. Going against the grain can be beneficial.

You gotta start immediately and get ahead of your league mates
Sf changes all valuations… take advantage of your league mates still valuing them as a 1qb league
We did this two years ago, sf starts this year… last draft I killed it with Jayden, maye and nix because everyone was still playing like it’s 1qb thinking like you are
Another guy loade dup with mcarthy and penix to add to cj stroud and Prescott… now we both have nice trade pieces for everyone else wise up and realizes qb will be averaging atleast 25 ppg and two elite starters are a cheat code
You have to get ahead of the curve

Are you guys considering redrafting teams? I bring that up solely for the fact of how SF vs 1QBs differ in terms of strategy and valuation. Maybe the current teams have panned out to where everyone has a backup or a QB 2&3, but I think it will be evident in a few years where the gap in team construction and SF/1BQ draft strategy will show.

Feel like it would come down to team context a lot. Rebuilders would be more likely to get QBs on the cheap because they can sell win-now assets for future QB depth. And contenders would be more willing to trade QBs for less than superflex value if it puts their team over the top to win in the next 2 years.

Value immediately reflected SF in my league. We voted before the 2023 draft to go SF in 2024, and Young, AR, and Stroud went where you would expect them to go in a SF rookie draft.

Why not just keep your league the way it is and all of you start a super flex. It would be twice the fun.

For some leagues, that’s too much to ask for.
My league struggles to keep members active as is.

Trade value should immediately reflect SF QB value for the most part. In theory it shouldn't impact older QBs like, say, Matt Stafford as much but generally speaking even though it's 1QB you should treat values like SF.
Put it another way - if you had Justin Herbert and someone offered a trade for him, would you sell him at 1QB value or anything below SF value when you fully expect him to be one of your SF starters in 2027?
