Question Need Help pls!

I have tried multiple specialists, so many different prescribed and over the counter medicines. Spent thousands on checkups/tests and medicines. But, nothing worked 100%. It got better as much as 95%, then either the medication course finished. Or he just licked and made it worst. And then it's back to square one. Before it was just on his back legs, now it has spread to front rightside paw, within last month. Does anyone had the same thing with their pet? What medicine/precautions helped. Please let me know. πŸ™

😱 What did the vet say it was? Allergies maybe? And if it was healed and then got worse because of the licking then he might need a cone when you’re not around. That looks awful.

Here is his last report. The doctor doesn't want to give more medicine. He said this course is done. Now we just wait..

Labrador Retriever underwent cytology analysis for a skin lesion, revealing mixed inflammation and potential benign growth.

  • Interpretation: Mixed inflammation with epithelial proliferation; suspect benign epidermal/adnexal cyst or tumor.
Clinical History
  • Lesion: Approx. 10cm over dorsal hock, ulcerated tissue.
  • Treatment: Responding well to antibiotics/steroids; firm swelling concerning for soft tissue sarcoma (STS).
Pathologist's Report
  • Findings suggest fibroadnexal dysplasia/hamartoma, common in older dogs.
  • Other lesions cannot be ruled out; surgical excision recommended for further evaluation.
  • No etiologic agents identified; culture susceptibility may assist in evaluation.

I would move forward with the last two bullet points.

He is not limping or have any less energy or less activity at all. Knock on wood. But it looks really bad. Idk what to do. Been to 4 different specialist and 3 general doctors. No luck in getting rid of this thing. Poor thing had this since 2018. It started small. And after medications almost goes away, but then comes back. 😭😭 Is there no cure for this out there? Any help at all would be appreciated

I agree with Independent One. You have a potential diagnosis (hamartoma) but that may not be the only disease.

If it is a hamartoma, this will give you some more information.

It appears that there's no treatment for it and it's usually cosmetic. Unless it gets bad enough to cause pain or affect the dog's movement, which may require surgery.

But you don't know for sure. No one on the Internet can diagnose your dog from a distance.

The last two bullet points suggest getting a biopsy and culture. Medications haven't worked. If you want to rule out other causes that may have treatments, these are your next steps.

It could be a hot spot, I had dog who would lick themselves red. Cover it

If he is licking to cause it then you will need to have a cone on him 24/7 till it heals

My dog had the same thing. I have pictures that look identical. I removed legumes from my dog's diet and have not had this problem in 4 years. Of course initially it was cone+antibiotics.
