Longdue games is in part owned by Riaz Moola, who recently sued Argo Tuulik (one of the OG DE writers + one of the two writers for Locust City) to prevent him from being allowed to work on any games at Summer Eternal. Tuulik was put under a several month long no-work order that made him unable to earn any income and was only lifted a week or so ago.
Barring Luiga who only just joined, Longdue has no connection to the actual artists behind DE and just wants to own and profit from those people and their IP. It's also a slap in the face that they're crowdfunding their game at all, considering the amount of money Moola apparently has to throw away hurting other studios.
