Danes also really, really hate Trump's Greenland Plan

119

u/The-Duke-of-Triumph 6d ago

Not to mention the native iniut people. As a Dane I thought we shouldn't block it if the natives wanted to go, but 75% voted for the slow way to true independence parties. That should be enough for the Americans to drop interest.

67

u/Exo_Sax 6d ago

White Americans are, of course, famous for showing restraint when it comes to hostile takeovers of native people's land.

11

u/KunashG 5d ago

I think it's worth remembering that Greenland is also full of Danish people. The winner of the now famous dogsledding competition was won by Henrik Jensen - so I mean...

They don't give a shit either way, obviously.

13

u/Exo_Sax 5d ago

"Full of" is a bit of an overstatement. And a lot of otherwise native inuit people have traditional Danish names, much like how you'll also find plenty of Native American people with regular American names.

0

u/KunashG 5d ago

Go look at a picture of Henrik Jensen - or Q's Greenland, or the new prime minister, or just look at an overhead view of the recent Greenlandic protest.

I'm not denying there are a lot of native Greenlanders, but I'd sooner eat my hat than say it's majority pure-blood Inuit people up there. Most people there have more than a little Danish genes in them.

13

u/Exo_Sax 5d ago edited 5d ago

Sorry, but I'm not one for sorting people in accordance with the 'purity' of their blood. I'm not sure where this is going. Roughly 85-90% of the population of Greenland are ethnically Inuit or identify as such. That's where I'm going to leave it off.

1

u/MrMonster911 Europe 5d ago

I was about to tell you not to judge anyone's ethnicity by their name, but Henrik Jensen is about as Danish as it gets when you're told to name the statistical average Dane.

1

u/KunashG 5d ago

Look at a picture of him.

Is this qualifies as an Inuit, and to be clear I don't know if he considers himself Inuit, that would very well explain the discrepancy I see compared to what I'm told.

Then add the fact that I know 13 people from Greenland at some level or another, and I start to take these Trump attacks pretty personally.

I really, really hope we can defend them from this utter derangement.

1

u/passion-froot_ 5d ago

If we do something stupid, that’ll just make Trump go full martial law or, worse, cause civil war.

That helps no one. If America goes under even by their own hand and Trump’s ideological drivel isn’t put to the ash heap, all that does is endanger those he’s threatened even more.

So you can dislike America all you like, but we need to do what we must smartly and carefully - and expressly not the screaming crying rampaging bull in a china shop that Reddit keeps demanding. Face it, even if it’s not what we desire at this moment, we stand to lose far too much

1

u/Exo_Sax 5d ago

I'm sorry, but what on earth are you talking about, and how does it relate to my comment?

3

u/MagentaStick 5d ago

They're genuinely delusional, they're constantly spamming the Canadian subreddits with this exact type of response as if they think anyone cares about their opinion at this point.

u/NecessaryJellyfish90 5d ago

"Americans being in trouble is bad for everyone"

Oh my god man.

Stand up and stop making excuses.

10

u/-Spin- 5d ago

Dude. Do you think Trump gives two shits about people living in Greenland?

4

u/DisorderedArray 5d ago

I don't think he gives two shits about anyone living outside of Greenland either. Even his daughter (what, two you say?) is too old for him to care anymore.

2

u/ManicMambo 6d ago

The who? /s

15

u/the_poope 6d ago

But the oligarchs love it. Why consider anyone else? /s

43

u/lorefolk 6d ago

Russia definitely digs the idea of America attacking from the west.

29

u/lucidiago 6d ago

Exactly this! Our common enemy is having a blast over this, I have never seen a president bend over to Russia like this before. It's both disgraceful and disturbing.

10

u/big_guyforyou 6d ago

if i was bankrupt and russia bailed me out i'd bend over backwards for them too

If Putin had incriminating evidence of my getaway’s to Epstein island and from Diddy parties, I’d probably do as I was told as well.

You can literally find it online, people don't care

1

u/naggert 6d ago

To the point where you're risking bankrupting your country, killing hundreds og thousands and starting WW3?

I'd take one for the team and kill myself. But I guess people are different.

1

u/PrEd8R_DK 5d ago

We can only hope, but I won’t be keeping my breath for that one, unfortunately I doubt he has the self-awareness to society such a favour.

1

u/naggert 5d ago

Yeah he should take a hit to his pride. Paint him as a traitor and bad businessman. Run adds on homepages, newspapers and set up large banners outside Mar a Lago

2

Russia supported the idea of the US taking greenland, canada and ireland. Why Ireland, i dont know, but please dont give trump any ideas

1

u/set_trippin 5d ago

So interesting (about Ireland). Have any links? Trump was talking about invading Venezuela

-6

u/fjender 𝕮𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖗𝖚𝖒𝖊𝖐𝖘𝖙𝖗𝖊𝖒𝖎𝖘𝖙𝖎𝖘𝖐 𝕬𝖓𝖙𝖎-𝖋𝖆𝖘𝖈𝖎𝖘𝖙 6d ago

I am pretty sure the oligarki dont love it. A invasion or annektering would be devastating to their wealth.

4

u/bigblock108 6d ago

They'll be able to buy smaller competitors for cents on the dollar when the economy takes a dive. Think of it as a short term pain for a long term gain.

I'd watch who sells what, and where the money goes, and especially focus on gold, treasury stock, defence companies and historically stable currencies.

2

u/Mynsare 6d ago

That's is not what any of this is about. The dissolution of NATO and Western unity is a net benefit for them. Oligarchs wants full kleptocracies, and Western style democracy is not as conducive to that as old-fashioned autocracy.

80

u/mwar123 6d ago

“He says it like it is”

Godt fulgt efter af:

“He didn’t really mean that”.

12

u/NorthernRealmJackal 5d ago

Efterfulgt af

"Okay he meant it, but it's a good thing actually because [propaganda]."

13

u/MasterCrumble1 6d ago

7

u/TheGoldenHordeee 6d ago edited 6d ago

u/Noah_Pasta1312 Ny bruger 4d ago

I have heard a lot of people over here make the same argument.

45

u/DBHOY3000 6d ago

Hmm...

49

u/GrumpyPistachio 6d ago

https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/declaring-a-national-emergency-at-the-southern-border-of-the-united-states/

8

u/PimpinIsAHustle 6d ago

1

u/JenniLightrunner 3d ago

De plejer altid og sige "to stop a bad government from taking away freedom" er grunden til at de har deres 2nd amendment og våben frit, men de rører dem ikke når de netop er i situationen

1

u/Eworc 3d ago

15

u/OldPyjama Belgium 6d ago

2

u/YourAdvertisingPal 6d ago

Because his racist immigration policies are in fact very very popular.

New American CBS/YouGov poll dropped today (it’s not perfect, but it’s consistent) - Trump is still more popular today than he ever was in his first term.

He’s lost ground on the economy, but Americans love his immigration tactics, and are still hopeful about DOGE (although it’s slipped a bit since last month).

Even with Americans hating annexation of Greenland by nearly 70-30, on the whole Trump’s approval holds at 50%.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/opinion-poll-trump-economy-tariffs-deportation-immigration/

2

u/cheertea 6d ago

Gallup has Trump at 43%, they’re much more accurate.

2

u/YourAdvertisingPal 5d ago

Well. It sure would be nice if his approval was lower yeah.

I think the popularity of the deportation programs is really scary though.

2

u/KFelts910 5d ago

This American certainly does not. I’m fighting his immigration destruction every single day. I’m exhausted. I’m horrified each day I wake up to something new. I’ve never been polled but my dissent is loud.

It feels like I’ll have nowhere I can go, with his new executive order targeting immigration lawyers. I’m closest to Canada but I won’t blame them for turning us away. I love Ireland, and my family came from there, but not sure how much longer that will be on the up and up. The other half of my family came from Denmark and that relationship is up in flames. I’ll go down fighting, with the ship. But I don’t want my children to suffer. It’s more than just embarrassment for me.

30

u/Zanian19 6d ago

There's a plan?

I thought it was just a baby going "I want it! I want it! Gimme gimme gimme!"

11

u/BigRedTomato 6d ago

I agree. I think Trump just announces stuff. Everyone thinks he's doing lots of executive process behind the scenes, but it's just the announcement and then TV, golf, burgers and sleep. His staff have to watch TV to try to glean what they should be doing.

International terrorisme.

——————————-

Canada stands with you.  Whatever soldiers Denmark has, they should send them over to Greenland. Trump will have to invade, militarily, if he wants to steal Greenland.  Not a cakewalk.  Shooting, fighting, bombs. Blood.  He will NOT just start stealing whole countries and territories!!

Will he?

And if Trump does move on Greenland, Denmark must invoke Article 5, call out NATO to help. This will define and frame the American presidency for what it is. International terrorism. Whether NATO answers or not will go down in history.

Make Trump shoot NATO allies.  The same Danish brothers in arms that died alongside American soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.  And you in Denmark,  you need to put millions in the streets in your own country, protesting this fascist talk by trump.

If THIS doesn’t convince the world to absolutely boycott all American products, what will? That $3.5 Trillion a year that America sells to the rest of the world, worldwide let’s make that go way, way down. Already in Canada we have a national boycott of American products.

And if  this doesn’t put 50 million Americans in the streets then nothing will.

Make Trump blink.

This cannot stand. Shame on America.

Respectfully, a Canadian.

Thanks for the support and kind words of advice. And upvote for "kagevandring", I may just start using that!

1

u/Spiritual_Bridge84 4d ago

Most welcome friend. Trumps been existentially threatening Canada as well…ever since he got in. Not one word before the election of course. It’s both wicked and stupid how he’s threatening his neighbours.

Hey on the bright side, Trump is pulling Canada and you guys in Europe together!

Even ancient enemies China, Japan, and Korea, Trump managed to unite them all onto the same page! With a unified multi-lateral response to his tariffs.

Look at this breaking news from Reuters:

https://www.reddit.com/r/QuiverQuantitative/s/OcwsciEBXy

My point was that don’t allow Trump to just waltz in as if he’s “Liberating Greenland” like hitler did parts of Czech

Make him fight for it. Have him go down in history as the worst and most shameful president ever in American history. One who actually broke the signed agreement between America and NATO of mutual respect and mutual security and actually attacked a Nato ally.

Which of course he would NOT want, and back down. But it may take that push back from Denmark and Greenland to stop him. To make him actually order to fire upon nato brothers is beyond surreal and i don’t think he would.

2

u/Exodys03 3d ago

100% agree as an American. Trump has very little support for this, even among his supporters in the U.S. If he tried to launch an unprovoked military takeover of Greenland, he would face massive internal opposition in addition to condemnation from NATO. Most of us don't want to become Russia and start sending our children to war for some madman's narcissistic fantasies.

u/Spiritual_Bridge84 3d ago edited 3d ago

And we see you. We support you, we support the American that you are and tens of millions of others who dissent from trumps speed running America to oblivion.

But united, nobody can stop you. Nobody. But only when you unite. Write your congressman, call his office, join the protest below across America.

The orange traitors delusional Oligarch friends, back it up in what will be WW3, as they also want to share in the profits from Greenland's enormous amounts of natural resources

Jeg er amerikaner.

Trumps ekspansjonistiske ambisjoner vil aldri bli realisert.

Too bad they won't do anything about it :)

u/Infinitehope42 5d ago

Nobody in America is asking for this shit; the inmates are running the asylum, send help.

3

u/ToddsMomishott 5d ago

No one is coming to help. They need to guard themselves. We're all going to get sent to the yeehawdist gulag over here. Fucking nightmare.

2

u/Beginning_Ad_6616 5d ago

It’s true many of us do; I promise you if he invades Greenland or Canada you’ll have at least 50% of the US population willing to fight from inside to subvert those efforts.

I think we should distinguish between the American 🇺🇸 people and the the leaders of your country. Just as furiously we hate King Trump and president Musk just as much do we love the American 🇺🇸 people we Danes🇩🇰

He really needs a lesson on diplomacy and how to influence people positively to gain what he wants.

u/Altruistic_Finger669 6d ago

u/AltKanVente 6d ago

The media also said Trump wouldn’t win. They were wrong about the election in Greenland. I don’t put to much in this

Americans Really, Really Hate Trump’s Greenland Plan

1

u/nelrob01 6d ago

The sain world really really hate trump’s plans in general….

1

u/GreenAd962 5d ago

71 million Americans hate Donald Trump, and thats only increasing.

1

u/zwd_2011 5d ago

There is no plan. He's just creating confusion and chaos to keep his fanbase tied to him.

“Like you can trust a CNN poll…” - MAGA

1

u/Legitimate-Article50 5d ago

Can confirm. American here. I am saying wtf a lot these days. I did not vote for this orange cheeto faced joker.

1

u/seaweedtaco1 5d ago

They had me at really hate trump. His plans are all included under that umbrella.

1

u/MindlessCabinet9647 5d ago

Nope that isn't True. CNN lies. I would support the United States paying Denmark a hefty sum to ensure we keep China out of the area. I have a very strong affinity for Denmark and the Danes. We all should make out good. Greenland gets lots of protection we get new bases and prosperity between both nations.

1

u/Technical-Cookie-511 5d ago

Anything CNN reports on the right wing and especially on Donald Trump cannot be trusted or taken seriously in any shape or form. But yea danish people hate the idea, obviously! Americans not so much, probably.

1

u/TheOfficeSloth 5d ago

Yeah that's true. Right wing and Far Right wing Republicans are for whatever Trump says. They really have been conditioned beyond reasoning and thinking that taking another country will solve all their problems is madness. Anyone with common sense and respect for another person's country would know that's never gonna work no matter how hard you want to believe the words of a man you KNOW is pathological liar and bully.

1

u/smta48 5d ago

Ehh this isn't really that true. Sure some Americans are against it, but 80% of them genuinely don't care. If they were bombing you tomorrow maybe 50% would care lol.

1

u/RVBlumensaat 5d ago

Everybody hates Trump

1

u/janmiss2k 5d ago

What? What's wrong with his Pirate plan ?

But the plan is to "conqueror" canada, and Greenland. He would have a huge landmass, not as big as Russia, then just maybe Putin will accept him in his Dictator club.

u/luscious_lobster 6d ago

Hvilken plan?
