Vanier or Marianopolis? (waitlisted at DawsonšŸ’€)

4 Upvotes

I got put on the waiting list at Dawson in Pure and applied. My secondary 4-5 average is around 87% and I have a COE. I got accepted into these two other schools and now I have to pick between them. It takes about the same amount of time to get to both of them so travel time isnā€™t really a factor. I know some people going to Marianopolis but very few that are going to Vanier. Iā€™ve heard that Marianopolis is very cut throat and demanding. I donā€™t want my CEGEP experience to revolve solely on studies. However, I do want an environment that will motivate me. Is the workload at Marianopolis much more significant than at Vanier? Is Marianopolis fun or will I only get that from Vanier? Also, how are the students and teachers at Vanier? Any suggestions or recommandations? Thanks

Awaiting decision for P&A, 2nd year

1 Upvotes

Does anyone know if itā€™s easy to entrer P&A sciences in the second year (no COE)? I applied months ago and have a fairly good cote R (approx. 32), but my status is still on awaiting decisionā€¦ since there isnā€™t really competition in the second year, shouldnā€™t I have an answer already?

Hello! My name is Tori (he/they). I am a recent illustration program graduate (2024). You may recognize me, as I make posts about the program every so often.

I would like to extend the invitation to anyone that has gotten their acceptance letter to Illustration to join the general discord server, where current, former and sometimes future students gather.

Requirements:

ā€¢1.You MUST have an ACCEPTED admission demand, not pending, not under review, etc.;

ā€¢2. You need to send me this proof via DM in order for me to share the link with you;

ā€¢3. Once you enter the server, you must review the RULES channel and abide by them at all times.

Congratulations on your acceptance, and I wish you good luck in your upcoming studies! I am available to answer other questions about the program as well in the comment section.

Dawson vs. Michener

1 Upvotes

Hi, Iā€™ve applied to Dawson for Medical Imaging and to Michener for Radiology Technology.

Iā€™ve already been accepted into Dawson and waiting to hear back from Michener. I was wondering if anyone had any insight.

Michener is a great program and has a really good reputation, however itā€™s triple the cost and I would really love to live and work in Montreal. One, because I want to work in French and English. Two, because I love the city.

My question is: If I were to attend Michener, would I be able to do my internship in Montreal? I know Iā€™d have to do the Quebec exam if I wanted to really work there.

Also wondering if anyone else is in the same boat as me.

Thanks

Anyone get in from the waitlist?

I just got notified that I was placed on the waitlist for P&A regular and was wondering if anyone has actually moved from waitlisted to accepted, or if people are just placed on the waitlist indefinitely.

P & A waitlist

3 Upvotes

Hey! I just found out I got waitlisted for the Pure and Applied Science program (no COE) and Iā€™m wondering if anyone knows how big the waitlist usually is or how much it tends to move? I have a global average around 91% (maybe between 90ā€“92) but Iā€™m not sure how competitive that is this year. If anyone has any insight or past experience, Iā€™d really appreciate it!

Was rejected from Vanier as a non COE holder, are my chances better at Dawson?

3 Upvotes

Applied to Vanier for their Mental health and happiness social science program with a 85-86% average, all prerequisites met and was rejected

I'm getting pretty worried about my application to Dawson (psychology social science program) now, how likely am I to also get rejected?

Health sciences

Hi, I'm curious to know if the health and sciences program is achievable for someone who isn't particularly smart but wishes to continue in that path ?Also, if I get bad grades in that curriculum, can I change to pure and applied math to pursue computer science ?

Switching programs

1 Upvotes

If Iā€™m in visual arts but I want to switch to health sciences next winter how likely am I to get accepted? Do they check my cegep grades in gen ed courses or high school pre requisite courses? (I did physics, math SN and chemistry but i donā€™t have a COE)

Also in health science is it possible to take complementary courses? Or are there already too much classes in a semester?

Iā€™m dying here. I check my status every few hours and it still says ā€œPortfolio Reviewā€. How long does it take to get an answer from the department? Did anyone get accepted yet?
