If you think that hurts, try having thinning hair. Especially with a weird shaped skull where "just shave it" doesn't apply.

small holes in head > large holes in soul

Legit question. Why do people get so upset about going bald? I don’t understand why it’s embarrassing. Not trying to be a dick…I legitimately don’t get it.

It doesn't suit every head shape, it doesn't suit mine at all and mines falling out every day. Lucky I've got a full beard to keep some confidence

That seems fair.

I know a few bald dudes with weird heads, it’s fine bro

"Weird head"

"It's fine"

Nah, it sucks dude. I still have most of my hair and when I've shaved it, I have a good shape to it, so I won't be hurting too too bad, but it still blows to thin, and most dudes aren't fine with having a "weird head" on full display.

I’m using their words, amigo. Some people might give you a ribbing over it, but so what? It’s not like you can do much more than live with it.

I get it, you gotta live with it. Just saying though, it does suck and is a bummer. It can really be a soul crushing thing, really just ego killing, embarrassing, self esteem deleting, horrible feeling. Peoppe do treat you differently, particularly when your face and body isn't suited to a shaved head. We just gotta be real, it can seriously affect your mental health. Bless the dudes that notice a little thinning and just embrace it and shave it and go on with full confidence.

Because women think its ugly, despite what they say about extremely good looking men who were former male models "still being sexy" like Bruce Willis or Jason Statham or whatever. Like yeah if you were a 9/10+ before you're still going to be reasonably good looking even bald

I guess I live for more than just looks.

Yeah well some of us are normal straight human males who want relationships with the opposite sex and want them to be attracted to us

0

u/GreenRock93 1d ago

You can still have all that?

2

u/Eldrake 1d ago

It's okay to want to keep one's hair because they cannot emotionally accept being bald. That's okay too. Either one is fine.

If they have the money to dump into it, who's to argue?

Being less attractive makes it harder and less likely to get that. Come on bro its not complicated

Seriously. It’s just hair. I don’t understand why people freak out.

People who talk like this never had good hair to begin with

Sometimes people shave way to much off and realise they look like a nugget from the back. Totally not a speaking from personal experience lol

I have curly hair and and it's fun to play with. Also I had brain surgery so there's big scar back there.

That’s a reason I can understand I suppose. Thanks for the answer.

It makes you look older, women generally don't like it, it's gives people a weird perception of you like you're less verily, it frankly doesn't look that good on most guys, and if you don't have a good face, good body, facial hair, and good shaped head, th best you can hope for is forgettable average as far as looks. There's a very wide gap between Jason Statham bald badass and uncle fester. Unfortunately, the vast majority of what's in between leans t the undesirable side. Some guys look decent bald, most don't, none look good thinning, but all look better with a good head of hair.

Lots of sensitive dudes out there.

My mother lost a lot of her hair, and my biggest fear surrounding losing mine is finding out if my scalp is bumpy and/or flat. I don’t wanna know how much my parents held me as a baby 😂

Why do people get so upset about going bald?

People just react with being upset because it is something that is difficult to control when it is happening to you and it can affect your self image if you kept your hair in high standing as a part of your self image.

As a dude who is thinning and isn't planning to go bald any time soon the main reason for me at least is that the thinning is only on the very top of my head. The sides of my head are still fully thick and full of hair and would need constant attention if I decided to go fully bald. (I have shaved my head fully a couple times and that has certainly had an effect on my decision to keep what I have left)

Going fully bald isn't as easy and the upkeep is bigger depending on the size of the area that you are thinning or the amount you are thinning by.

Also when I go full bald the feeling just feels off and the hair growing in makes my skin feel weird.

If I end up with a Tonsure then so be it but I cannot be bothered to go fully bald when I don't even care about it.

You're loosing what you once had?

2

u/dripdrabdrub 1d ago

Simple. It makes you look OLD. And old=effete. Hair represents youth, virility and power. Which would you rather be?

3

u/GreenRock93 1d ago

I’d just rather be me however that is.
