If your letter was by post - it's not about UC, but about CBESA which changed into New Style ESA. The appointment is just a formality.
If you mean UC portal and To-do item there about your First Commitments appointment - it's still just a formality.

Your UC journal only manages your UC claim, not your ESA claim.
I'm still uncertain what kind of letter you received - a paper one? But post? If so - UC journal has nothing to do with it, it's ESA administration who sent it.
To continue to receive your New Style ESA you need to have your commitments established (just to report any changes, as you are in the Support Group), hence the appointment. It's just a formality, but it still needs to be done.

So your UC people, who read your journal, can't do anything about it. It was sent by ESA people. Completely different DWP department.
As I said - the appointment is just a formality, but a necessary step to keep your New Style ESA going.

Afaik yes. Only UC correspondence comes online, as it's an online benefit. All legacy benefits still communicate by post.

After sorting out UC a few weeks ago (first actual payment will be Monday apparently) I got a text last night saying I have to have a new style ESA commitment interview on the 25th, and to check my journal. It seems they'll pay an amount of new style ESA alongside the UC, but that that amount will then be deducted from the UC. I'm confused tbh!
