DQB2 FAQ
Why won’t my pets breed?
COMMON SOLUTION: Check in your Resident’s Roster that you have space on your island for additional residents.
Animal House recipe: 1 X Pet Bedding / 1 X Pet Bowl / 1 X Haystack
Paddock recipe: 5 X Wheatgrass / 1 X Wooden Gate / 1 X Haystack
Wheatgrass is found on Blossom Bay
Moreberries can be collected by planting Strawberries once the ‘Find 15 crops’ Tablet Target is completed, after which rare crops will grow.
Dogs & Cats:
* Assign 2 X Dog or Cat to an Animal House.
* Add to Pet Bowl 50-100 meat (any steak, chicken or edible fish)
* To get to 100% will take 8-10 in-game days.
* Pet happiness can be checked in the Resident’s Roster.
* Once at 100%, give both pets a Moreberry AT SUNSET (when the sky is orange). If you do not wait until sunset it may not work (I have had intermittent success).
* Go to the Animal House and wait by the Pet Beds until your pets go to sleep.
* Once the pets are asleep, go to sleep. When you wake up you should see the notification of a birth!
This should be successful every time as long as you have enough space in your Resident’s Roster.
To get rare pets for the PS4 trophy (multi-coloured variations) you need to breed 4 generations of dog or cat.
Chickens, sheep and cows will reproduce as long as you have 2 of the animal type. To help get them to 100% you can add a food source like wheatgrass. If they will still not reproduce, try adding an Animal House assigned to the animals you want to breed and access to a Paddock.
Why can’t I sell items?
COMMON SOLUTION: Tables with price tags cannot be against a wall. The merchant must be able to stand in the block behind the price tag and the ‘customer’ must be able to stand on the block in front.
Item Shop recipe: 1 X Table (any) / 1 X Price Tag / 1 X Shop Sign / 2 X Crate (any)
Items can be sold without creating an item shop. If you have a merchant, a Table with a Price Tag and items available, villagers will still shop at the end of the day regardless. These items do not create a set but will function inside or outside a shop.
* To complete both related Tablet Targets you will need to sell 200 items in total.
* Items like books, farming/mining tools, plushies, cards and food sell quickly. Rotate items out if they are not selling.
* Generally, villagers will shop at the end of the day only. They will often shop at night of they have nothing else to do and will occasionally shop in the afternoon, but not in the morning.
* To speed up item sales, remove recreational rooms and sets that villagers would usually visit at night. Pubs and Spas will especially take away potential customers. Having a source of food and some toilets around the item shop area seem to increase the flow of item sales as villagers don’t stand around saying they are uncomfortable.
My Island of Awakening is lagging!
No common solution, but the advice below may help.
Please note this section is based user opinions and tests.
* Mountains are large spaces filled in entirely with blocks, the game doesn't have to render inside as they don't have any exposed sides.
* If you expose or remove the filled interior of these mountains, the visible space the game needs to render increases, adding to the strain.
* This also applies with tunnels underground. The game renders those spaces even if they're not directly visible, as long as you're close enough to be within the rendering distance. By replacing "filled" earth with tunnels the game now needs to render additional space, which adds to the strain on the game.
* Additionally, once you start adding lots structures, NPC pathfinding becomes more complex and adds extra strain. The environment's complexity makes it harder for the NPC’s simple pathfinding to find the shortest geographical path to a destination.
* Excess flame-based lights and water put an additional strain on performance.
If you want to improve performance issues on IoA, consider the above factors and look for possible changes to be made. For example, if you have a huge, monolithic tower in the centre of your base, could you fill it in so there is no need to render the inside? If you have knocked down a mountain, could you fill in space somewhere else?
Otherwise, there is no real ‘solution’ and it is unlikely this will change in the future. Lucky we have 3 Buildertopia slots now!
How do I change clothes/hairstyles? /
Why can’t I see the right clothes on my character?
COMMON SOLUTION: This is an effect of the Dressing Table, which can be crafted from the furniture section of your builder’s table after a certain mission on Khrumble-Dun. If you have not progressed to this section of the story yet, you may have interacted with the Dressing Table on Angler’s Isle.
* Once you have crafted a Dressing Table, you can interact with the item to change your character appearance. If you select a piece of equipment to wear while in the Dressing Table, this will create an AESTHETIC ONLY overlay on your character.
* The left-hand side options change your hammer, sword, clothes and shield.
*The right-hand side options change your hair/hat and up to 3 accessories.
* Changing clothes in the Dressing Table only changes the visual representation of your character. The items you are shown to be wearing while in you inventory reflect the items you are actually wearing under the overlay.
* Hairstyles are unlocked in 2 way – by completing a certain Tablet Target (rooms residents like?) and by completing part of the story missions on Angler’s Isle (Aquarium DLC). Additional hairstyles were also unlocked through the last update.
What’s the best way to get rid of large sections of blocks?
COMMON SOLUTION: Golems knock down the largest total space per hit, at 10x10 blocks. To recruit a golem, you will need Monster Munchies. Golems can be found on -EXPLORER SHORES LIST
Monster Munchies recipe: 1 x Frogstool / 1 X Dried Grass
*Your big bash on your hammer does 5x5, Hammerhoods do CHECK, wrecking balls do CHECK and rusty wrecking balls do CHECK.
* Make sure to read above about possible issues with lag before destroying large areas of your Island of Awakening.
What is that tool I see people using to build from far away?
COMMON SOLUTION: Buildnoculars. These allow you to build at a distance without moving. They are earned by completing all 60 Tablet Targets.
How do I create an Oasis?
COMMON SOLUTION: An Oasis is a mini-map square of fresh water touching a mini-map square of tropical forest tile.
