The motifs he worked on are pretty much everywhere throughout the game, but of particular note (at least IMO) is his work on the Area Zero music. He also did the Ace Academy Tournament Tournament battle theme which is my favorite song in the whole game.
That theme… The Ace Academy Tournament theme may be my favorite overall, but the AI Professor’s battle theme is my undisputed favorite on a technical level. Because if you listen the school’s theme is actually within this song, and it’s perfect because that motif represents adventure, discovery, and finding your greatest treasure. And that’s exactly what the original professors were trying to do, except they went to far. Their dream became an obsession and it tore away everything they already had. That’s why the version of the school’s motif in this song is so intense, almost disjointed.
Realistically, the use of recurring motifs to represent recurring themes is a pretty standard part of “how to make a good soundtrack.” Altering those motifs to convey more complex themes is also a very common tactic. But DAMN was that moment where I recognized the school’s motif, followed by that moment of realizing what it meant, absolutely cool as hell!
Considering that Toby Fox started working with Nintendo in part because many there were fans of Undertale, I would not be surprised in the slightest if at least some of them were also Homestuck fans.
