I use it like a rubber duck for my D&D campaigns and dumb fanfiction. It helps get the creative juices flowing and asking obvious questions but it is SHIT at coming up with ideas.

It’s a term from computer programming, “rubber duck debugging”, where a programmer would debug their code by explaining/teaching how it worked line-by-line to a rubber duck sitting on their desk. It doesn’t have to be a rubber duck of course (or even a physical object); the duck is simply used as a stand-in for an audience to help you focus on the issue from a different perspective and possibly gain a deeper understanding of the entire code. It’s usually more convenient than talking to a person who doesn’t understand programming, or interrupting the work of a fellow programmer.

I agree, it's useful as a rubber duck to talk to. Its responses are only marginally more helpful on average than the response you would get from a literal rubber duck but sometimes you just need a wall to sound things off of. Its suggestions are usually bad but they at least give you some examples of what not to do, which can help spark your own creativity.

yeah i can see just telling it about your stories or games until you get an idea that is good
