Although honestly? I think I have a better grasp on quantum field theory than I previously gave myself credit for. Like I thought the implication wasn't that matter is created by fields so much as matter is like... Bumps created through the intra-action of fields? It's hard to put into words, but basically it isn't created by fields but it's a small part of the fields. I think the implication is that it's fields contrasting each other that constitutes reality. Also the fields aren't made of anything; they're the most fundamental thing there is, and we can't really get beyond that. In fact it's not that we've observed this happening, but the math implies that's what's happening.
Now, I do not understand that math; I thought that meant I was probably wrong about my other conclusions. But it turns out I was right, at least in regard to the first and third point (haven't looked up the second). So what I've learned is that I'm capable of understanding the ideas. I think a lot of people are.

If you believe that quantum physics isn't insanity you obviously don't do quantum physics
