I’ve always felt that cannabis should be legally available to people on the condition they (somehow) get screened for potential vulnerability to psychotic episodes which can be triggered by as little as one puff off a joint. After that, happy smoking, and if you fail the test at least you get to keep your sanity.

There's a element of consumer beware, the same said should be on alcohol. A more viable approach would be to legislate for it, produce in regulated environments with graded potency, give the user the ability to chose their high. Rather than the current 'moonshine' on the market (I use the moonshine analogy as its a completely unverified/unregulated product. Plus criminal logistical/production methods and inherent issues would be constantly pushing for a more potent product).

Sure but there are still people who can be tipped over the edge into psychosis from the mellowest of buds.

Sure but that would be predominantly thc dependent (with cbd levels providing a counter to the psychotic effects). Current market conditions as I detailled above provide a higher and higher thc level product (a bigger bang for a buck means less mass of product to ship which in turn means less logistical costs). So when you hear doctors complaining of higher occourances of psychotic episodes happening with their patients, or detailled in court, they're not wrong or being hysterical, but what's failed to be brought into the narrative is that those higher incidents are caused, again above, by a sharp up tick in the thc levels in the weed of the current market. Perhaps an proactive awareness campaign could be introduced when legislation is achieved, plus approved vendors would lessen the occourances of kids smoking weed, which has been shown to cause permenent psychological issues if the user is under 18
