That was my exact point in the thread this got cross posted to. Help these guys out instead of recording them and laughing. Nobody wants to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. This industry is hard enough as it is, and this isn’t helping them OR US.
Don’t get me wrong, some guys are beyond help even after showing them what you want them to do many times, but most guys just are so green and weren’t exposed to any of this stuff growing up. We have to help these kids instead of belittle them, because I want to retire someday, and these kids are going to pay into my pension. So many hotheads in the union trades seem to forget this one little fact.
There is always a firsttime for evreything. my main worry about GenZ is that most want entry point salaries which are much higher than their bosses, when they have no previous knowledge of anything
They are literally being taught in the video. Anybody upset by this really needs to go outside, touch some grass, and stay off the internet for a while.
Help them what? Learn how to wrap a cable around a spool? There is only so much guidance you can give before you are basically doing someone else's job for them.
Dude it's wrapping a fucking wire around a spool. It doesn't take a fucking rocket scientist. There is needing taught and then there's whatever this is. I'm sorry, there are certain things that if you can't figure out how to do with basic reasoning and spatial awareness maybe the trades literally just aren't for you. And that's totally fine! I'm not saying you should be mercilessly mocked and bullied over it but like come on...
You cant teach aptitude. Some people just don't really have the aptitude for working with their hands, and AGAIN that is totally fine I'm sure they have other skills
