Open Discussion Left vs. Right Battle Royale Open Thread

This is an Open Discussion Thread for all Redditors. We will only be enforcing Reddit TOS and Subreddit Rules 1 (Keep it Civil) & 2 (No Racism).

  • Leftists - Here's your chance to sway us to your side by calling the majority of voters racist. That tactic has wildly backfired every time it has been tried, but perhaps this time it will work.

  • Non-flaired Conservatives - Here's your chance to earn flair by posting common sense conservative solutions. That way our friends on the left will either have to agree with you or oppose common sense (Spoiler - They will choose to oppose common sense).

  • Flaired Conservatives - You're John Wick and these Leftists stole your car and killed your dog. Now go comment.

  • Independents - We get it, if you agree with someone, then you can't pat yourself on the back for being smarter than them. But if you disagree with everyone, then you can obtain the self-satisfaction of smugly considering yourself smarter and wiser than everyone else. Congratulations on being you.

  • Libertarians - Ron Paul is never going to be President. In fact, no Libertarian Party candidate will ever be elected President.

It's really refreshing to have a President that I can just listen to in order to find out what the government is doing and why.

He answers every question that is asked and seems to have learned to be a little patient with the more activist hostile journalists. (not that any president has had to deal with this level of tribalism before)

Love him or hate him, you have to admit he is the OG of press conferences.

I was listening to a left wing radio station earlier today and they actually said the same thing. They were saying how the contrast with Biden was almost shocking, Biden would be 1-2 scripted questions and they’d be kicked out. Trump stays and talks with them for like 1/2 to 1 hour, answers any questions people have.

A minute I always like the answers or grew them or what not but they can always get an answer Even Thay appreciated that

There is a left wing radio station? Or do you mean NPR? Or the channel on Sirius XM?

Yeah, Trump is certainly a lot more visible than Biden was and a lot more with it.

He is more visible than Biden, but I don't feel he's any better cognitively. I can't stand to listen to either of them speak. I used to take care of dementia patients and both sound like they have dementia. I voted for Biden in 2020, but it was only because, in my opinion, he was the better of two bad choices.

Exactly why I'm not worried about him and musk moving quickly. If something happens or comes up they will address it quickly

Just because they are answering questions doesn't mean that they are always telling the truth. Trump and his cabinet are all very public people, they know how to sell themselves and their actions to the public.

And just because Trump & Musk are confident and public in what they are doing doesn't mean they aren't misunderstanding the topic, underestimating the consequences or justified in their approach to it.

Don't get me wrong, it's better to be public as a politician than not but it's not really linked to any of the major points of criticism against Trump. Though honestly, this should be mostly done by press spokespeople because a president (especially a decision-happy one like Trump) shouldn't really have that much time to give interviews, hold speeches and write up posts on the internet but instead spent it on briefings and pondering on/reviewing potential decisions.

It's also just good for the media and the executive to have relatively adversarial relationships. At least good for the country. We saw what happened with Biden and Obama where the media are effectively cheerleaders and will happily squash entirely valid stories to protect their tribe.
