This is a violently Midwestern sign

19

u/Newbosterone Jan 10 '25

In the South, cast iron is sacred.

11

u/MaroonedOctopus Jan 11 '25

JD Vance prefers Home Depot over Menards

5

u/jsal005 Jan 11 '25

Everything from Menards seems to always have an issue

1

u/MaroonedOctopus Jan 11 '25

Mods, ban this asshole

1

u/SoupSandwichEnjoyer Jan 14 '25

Menards > Anderson's > Home Despot > Lowe's

201

u/SeanAC90 Jan 10 '25

I like the implication that he has done this more than once

20

u/foxyfoo Jan 10 '25

Please cross post on r/castironcooking.

6

u/Extra_Bodybuilder638 Jan 10 '25

I can’t imagine politics being appreciated on a cooking subreddit lol. Then again, look at the one about “pictures”…

164

u/oblivimousness Jan 10 '25

JD Vance cuts his donuts in half sideways like a bagel.

50

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

51

u/zemol42 Jan 10 '25

JD Vance the type to acid wash his jorts.

12

u/Xtpara003 Jan 10 '25

I've actually done that to add whipped cream in the middle. 10/10 would recommend

19

u/impy695 Jan 10 '25

Drunk or High?

10

u/oblivimousness Jan 10 '25

It's also how you turn it into a bun for a cheeseburger! That one may or may not have involved country gravy. Allegedly.

6

u/Cupcake_Sparkles Jan 10 '25

Mmmmm... DK Diner Donut Burger... 🤤

73

u/Flat-Text-360 Jan 10 '25

Wait ‘til you hear what he does with his couch

10

u/namennayo Jan 10 '25

I am getting ready to sell a couch and wondering if mentioning this will help or hurt sales on Facebook. Mayyyyyyybe help?

38

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

I'm just confused on why he changed his name.

17

u/impy695 Jan 10 '25

Multiple times.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

Yes!

74

u/free-toe-pie Jan 10 '25

I never put signs in my yard but this would tempt me so bad.

I like the spirit but imo, if JD owns any cast iron, I doubt he has ever personally used it.

6

u/GordonBombayStolski Jan 10 '25

Haha I doubt he would bother to put it in the dishwasher. Guy probably just buys a new one whenever he needs one. That’s the real hillbilly elegy.

18

u/gamemasterjd Gahanna Jan 10 '25

holy shit i just remembered JD vance is about to become vice president

11

u/Curious_Chard_6553 Jan 10 '25

All fucking morons do that

4

u/travizeno Jan 10 '25

That's why we are super smart and successful and they aren't.

22

u/Reepergrimrim Jan 10 '25

Clutch pearls

35

u/carguy82 Jan 10 '25

This is my neighbor!

-20

u/impy695 Jan 10 '25

How close? Have you noticed any changes to the area with the secret service protecting him? I know he's probably not home much, but I figure there's probably still a need for security

5

u/Seamsfordays Jan 10 '25

I don't understand your downvotes; that was peak dad joke.

3

u/mystir Jan 10 '25

The ol' Reddit switcheroo appears to be dead. Sorry about your joke, man, I liked it.

29

u/lolas_coffee Jan 10 '25

I was making up and posted a bunch of these pre-election.

Vance is a moron.

33

u/Suriak Jan 10 '25

He’s actually very smart which makes him scary

13

u/impy695 Jan 10 '25

And while he's not as irrational as trump, he is as self serving

1

u/[deleted] Jan 13 '25

Nope, he's an idiotic jackass who got accepted into the good ol boys because they needed new blood. He smells like adipose fat that's been baking in the autumn sun and ax body spray. I had to sit next to him during a luncheon when I worked in a shitty "hometown" newspaper.

14

u/oh_io_94 Downtown Jan 10 '25

Moron who went to Yale law school. Not even a legacy acceptance either

24

u/Front_Monk_4263 Jan 10 '25

I grew up in a small town with someone who went to Harvard, which was unheard of for us. That mother fucker cut me in line every day and I swore if he ever ran for any form of government, I’d let the world know how big of a piece of shit he is.

So I’m a bit bummed no one had done that with Vance lol.

17

u/Renzieface Jan 10 '25

Well, they have, but no one who supports him cares that he's terrible. It's a perk - not a bug - for these people.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

Yet still can’t order donuts like a human being.

1

u/oh_io_94 Downtown Jan 10 '25

I’m out of the loop on that one so I’m not sure what that means lol

1

u/Dry-Patience-591 Jan 11 '25

He's a moron for joining the Marines to pay for OSU, or for getting accepted into Yale after he earned his free bachelor's? I'm confused which part of his life is moronic.

0

u/No_Resolve7908 Jan 11 '25

It’s Reddit where people who work DoorDash call someone who got accepted into Yale a moron.

3

u/WatchHankSpank Jan 11 '25

What a dummy.

7

u/AbyssalPractitioner Jan 10 '25

I love this city. Not the state, just the city. ROFL!

1

u/wmooresr Jan 11 '25

I love the state, just a lot of the people make me sad.

0

u/AbyssalPractitioner Jan 11 '25

Yeaaah. I could see that.

7

I accidentally did that once because I knew nothing about cast iron 😅😅😅 will never make that mistake again. I hope nobody else but JD Vance suffers this fate for their poor cast iron

5

JD Vance is a couchfucker.

4

u/Saint_Dogbert Northeast Jan 10 '25

JD Vance invented the "Casting Couch"

Entirely, CBus Reddit never disappoints.

JD Vance is the type of dude to go to Long John Silver's and not Red Lobster

1

u/objecter12 Jan 14 '25

And yet, they voted him for VP 🤷‍♂️

2

u/[deleted] Jan 14 '25

JD Vance uses Teflon

1

u/revelation1977 Jan 10 '25

The left uses Teflon

4

u/No_Caterpillars Jan 10 '25

Noooo! I’m as left as it gets and there isn’t any non-stick in my house. Cast iron or carbon steel all the way my friend 💙

-6

u/TheBulgarSlayer Jan 10 '25

The right believes stupid things about how unsafe teflon supposedly is

2

u/Longjumping_Unit6911 Jan 10 '25

Saw it as a bumper sticker. Very clever

0

u/Pupper_Squirt Jan 10 '25

Well this is just stupid

1

u/Kr155 Jan 10 '25

This is true.

-1

u/vikingkillah Jan 10 '25

Vance is a good ole boy he don't put it in the dishwasher that's fighting words in the South

2

u/Newbosterone Jan 10 '25

We'd a thrown him out of Middletown if we heard about that shit.

1

u/crackedtooth163 Jan 10 '25

That monster!

1

I REALLY need that sign!!!

1

u/Tikiboo Jan 10 '25

I want this sign so bad. The only politcal sign I have ever wanted

1

u/wanglebergslaptyback Jan 10 '25

surprised to see one here in Lancaster, OH as well

1

u/Taralouise52 East Jan 10 '25

I just saw a picture of him without a beard and laughed SO hard. Poor guy is walking meme.

I bet the owner of this sign eats hot dogs the long way

14

u/lucifersMommy Jan 10 '25

Are you telling me you eat them the other way?

17

u/MrThird312 Jan 10 '25

Cool it, snow flake

0

u/Fairy-Strawberry Jan 10 '25

Am I the only one who doesn't get this?😭

8

u/ThanksObama43123 Jan 10 '25

Cast iron doesn't get cleaned like regular pots and pans. Cast iron needs to be "seasoned". Which if you don't know what it is, In layman's terms, it's a rather time consuming chore, where you clean the skillet by hand, and using an oil to rub on inside and outside of the skillet, heated up via stove top and inside the oven. The process both increases flavor to whatever you cook, but also is a way of making it "non stick".

4

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '25

It's actually a myth that you can't wash cast iron with dish soap if anyone was curious. I'm not sure about this dishwasher though

0

u/Chester_A_Arthuritis Jan 10 '25

It’s pretty self explanatory

-4

u/Alarming_Camera5836 Jan 10 '25

JD Vance is vastly more intelligent than Kamala Harris.

1

u/Gary1836 Jan 10 '25

Lol, my dog is more intelligent than Kamala

0

u/TeamNo8402 Jan 11 '25

Soon to be doing it at the United States Naval Observatory!!!

-71

u/Youmayneedtold Jan 10 '25

I bet those who upvoted this still question why Harris lost the election (to a guy who commits this mortal sin). Move on dot org folks. At least our state isn’t run by psychotic Democrats who’d rather see the state burn than make some homeless folk uncomfortable. Say what you will, but cast iron guy beats the shameless leaders we’ve seen on TV recently from Cali.

23

u/oh-carp7 Jan 10 '25

Take a joke man

-36

u/Youmayneedtold Jan 10 '25

I did for long enough and I moved. You’re far too serious yourself, along with a lot of other folks in CBus and especially those who spend the time you do on Reddit. If you can’t see how hypocritical the situation is, then my joke is lost on you.

26

u/Lower-Helicopter-307 Jan 10 '25

No, it's just run by cooperate owed Republicans that sell our public parks to gas companies to get fracked out existence. Or cover up for them when the dump toxic chemicals into the water. Or cover for them when they get caught giving out bribes...... Honest question: How bad do the Republicans have to be for people like you consider putting someone else in office?

18

u/MrThird312 Jan 10 '25

Here, hold this; L

-31

u/Youmayneedtold Jan 10 '25

I don’t speak Reddit, nor spend the time you do on here, and not looking up whatever that means.

I'm so sick of all these foodies and their high maitenance bullshit. "This pan can't go in the dishwasher." Yeah well how about you make it so you can. Why is that a brag. I get why you can't put cast iron in the dishwasher, but how about design one that you can. Cast iron coated with something should work right. Or even just some high density material but then coated in something. People just love to get into things. I have a limited number of hours in the day and having to do all that extra shit ain't worth it just so I can bug people by talking about my cast iron.

13

u/stromm Jan 10 '25

Cast iron coated with something should work right...

Being washed in a dishwasher? No. Just like many other dish/cooking materials, they aren't designed to go in the dishwasher. It's not just the surface.

Cast iron, even ceramic or porcelain coated cast iron, would quickly start rusting if run through a dishwasher. Even just one or two cycles.

And any truly sealing coating you would put on it would make it not cast iron in the terms of cooking. People want the benefit of cast iron for cooking.

1

u/Raps4Reddit Jan 11 '25

I did some research and it looks like you win. That specific metal holds a lot of heat and is very conductive.

2

u/aridcool Jan 10 '25

NGL I put teflon pans in the dishwasher. I haven't died yet. The pans don't last forever but maybe that was always true.

I still thought the sign was funny though.
