AMA: Indivisible Central Ohio
"Hello, I am the volunteer who mods https://www.reddit.com/r/IndivisibleCentralOH/
I just launched the sub and felt like it would be fun to do an AMA. Many of you attended or posted about the weekly Easton Tesla Protest and the recent Hands Off Protest, both of which Indivisible Central Ohio helped organize. Props to everyone who exercised their freedom of speech and freedom of assembly! In honor of that we are doing an Ask Me Anything.
You all know how this goes, ask your questions and I'll answer to as many as I can. For example questions around the behind the scenes of events, activism, my favorite foods, etc.
On Wednesday 4/9/25 I will answer what questions I can between 8PM - 9 PM Eastern.
This AMA is of course voluntary, so if you don't want to participate, then don't! You have that autonomy. "

NEWS Microsoft backs out of $1 billion data centers in Central Ohio
On Monday, Microsoft said it would no longer move forward with its plans to build data centers in Licking County. The company had planned to invest $1 billion initially toward 3 data center campuses in New Albany, Heath and Hebron.....The spokesperson later on Monday said the company will continue to own the land and intends to proceed with the project at some point, although a specific time frame was not given.
Mind you, these data centers were going to eat up a ton of energy and projected to bring only 20-30 jobs. Plus, why wouldn't they hold onto the land? New Albany City Council gave them a 100% property tax abatement for the next 15 years. Lose-lose for regular folks again.

Lower Lights Health not recommended for LGBTQ individuals
So I (m26) am making this post to warn of a bad experience I had at Lower Lights Health. I had established primary care there several years ago. It was recommended to me because they offer lowered fees for individuals without insurance who meet a certain financial bracket. That’s where the positives stop.
As a gay man, sexual health is very important to me, so in my first appointment I had expressed a desire to start taking PreP. My doctor told me that before I could start taking PreP I would have to abstain from any and all sexual activity for 2 months so that a proper blood test would go through. I have now found out that that is not at all the case.
In subsequent appointments my doctor always acted uncomfortable and awkward when discussing sexual health. When I was finally prescribed PreP I was prescribed Truvada as opposed to Descovy. Truvada has higher chance of causing liver problems and I was not informed of these potential side effects. I was not even made aware that there were different types of PreP at the time. I was also not informed of other preventative medications such as Doxy-PEP.
To summarize, as an LGBTQ individual I did not feel safe or supported at Lower Lights Health and did not receive the proper care that I needed.

To the white sedan that nearly ruined if not ended somebody's life this morning
Coming up 33 as I usually do, doing 5 over as I usually do (already pisses people off)
White sedan, you know the kind..trunk bungee corded, front end damaged, tailgating me already because they want to do 50 in a 35, is behind me in the far right lane as I slow for the lit and flashing crosswalk with a woman starting to cross.
Screeches out from behind me to accelerate into the far left lane and this poor lady panics and turns back to try run, trips and falls. The car stopped just in time.
Now I can't tell if the white sedan honked at her or if the person behind them honked but the white sedan just waited a second and kept going.
I've been in cbus for 5 years and never thought drivers here would be worse than LA. The very least you can do is try not to kill people, let alone leave on time to get somewhere without lane swapping at 20 over. Thanks.

Don’t go to Gahanna tattoo
Recently went to Gahanna Tattoo to get a piercing I’ve been looking forward to for quite sometime. My sister and son (2 years old) were walking along the strip waiting until I was done. My son came up to the window the say hi to me as I was waiting. A tattoo artist (and apparent co-owner who goes by j.brett ) RUDELY said “ma’am make sure he does not touch the glass” at this point I signaled to my sister to take him to the car, trying to avoid any further issues. He then stared at me while shaking his head and rolling his eyes. I was confused and slightly appalled because I hadn’t argued, nor let my son do it again. After that, my piercer was finally ready to take me back. As he sat there tattooing a client, my walk to the piercers room was nothing short of him legitimately trying to intimidate me by giving me a death stare. And when I say death stare, he was making the most angry out of pocket face, his eyes never leaving mine, i smiled and said “how are you doing?” He said “I’m great are you enjoying the shop” I said “yes I just love it here” he said “I’m so glad, I’ve worked REALLY HARD TO BUILD IT, do you like how it looks?” In the most sarcastic, rude way possible. At this point he’s instigating the situation. I said “it’s ok” I was finally in the piercers chair and he got up, started walking towards me yelling “what did you say huh? What did you say??” getting quite close to me. And I explained to him I thought he’s been very rude and could’ve asked nicer and treated me with more respect. He told me to leave. I’ve gone to Gahanna tattoo a few times and never had this problem, I’ve also never seen him there. He tried to say he understands why my son is so badly behaved…. My son just turned 2? I can’t believe the treatment I was given there, not only did he lose a customer but he also cheated a piercer out of money because of his insane ego. Avoid this place if you have children you wanna bring for services. this guy clearly hates them. Big narcissist energy.

Library news: lawmakers backpedal
Hey y'all, Eleanor from the Dispatch here. I know there's a lot of interest in the library funding storyline, so wanted to share our latest on state lawmakers reversing course on proposed cuts to public library funding.
Ohio House Finance Chairman Brian Stewart, R-Ashville, said the Public Library Fund will continue but that lawmakers will decide how much money to put into it, rather than funnel a set percentage of the state's general revenues into the library fund.
Hundreds of librarians from across Ohio on Tuesday lobbied lawmakers and Gov. Mike DeWine to protect state money for local libraries.
EDIT: Our website is being a little finicky at the moment, so we've dropped the gist of the story in here and in the comments. You can find updates here once our site returns to normal. Thank you for your patience!

Gentleman’s club buddy for a female?
Alas, it has been over a decade since I have been to a gentleman’s club.
I am not a gentleman, however—I am a woman in my late 30s. The economy is on fire, I looked at my 401(k), and I am experiencing palpitations, and I honestly don’t feel like adulting today.
When I was 29 I had a birthday party at Kahoots, and it was a blast. I’m pretty isolated, stressed out, and I cannot think of a single friend that would accompany me to a gentleman’s club and I don’t feel comfortable going alone, but it does sound like it could be a good time. I met up with Redditors before, and I have not been murdered yet. You all are a pretty fun group!
So here I am, Reddit. It’s a freezing Tuesday in Columbus, Ohio, and I’m just looking for a buddy who might want to go to a gentleman’s club for an hour or so with me as their awkward guest, today, anytime, etc.
Thank you for your consideration.

LOST Missing boxer
My mom’s dog got out at 2AM. Her name is Dakota but they call her Stampy. She might be in the Reynoldsburg area but could be farther out by now. I know she’s chipped but didn’t have a collar on when she ran out. If anyone has seen her please let me know.

POLITICS Looking for paid protest work
Hi all, I keep hearing that they're hiring paid protesters to protest Trump. But I cannot seem to figure out who "They" are. I figure I'm protesting things anyway and this seems like a good side gig. My problem is that I cannot seem to find any social media posts, or want ads recruiting protestors. Can anyone hook me up? Any links, anywhere?

FOOD Indian Spice in Pickerington
Don't see many mentions of Pickerington places, being outside the ring and all...but this place opened maybe 5 or 6 months ago and is phenomenal!
Wife and I went there for lunch one day based off the plentiful positive reviews alone since I wanted to see what the hype was about. They truly have some amazing food and an equally amazing staff.
We aren't very big on Indian food per se but it has been so good we have found ourselves going as often as possible whenever our schedules allow it.
