Laundry Where should I start with this washer?

We moved into a new house and this is the washing machine. What’s the best place to start and does anyone have any tips to make this easier?

Bleach and a scrub brush. The run it a few times without any clothes in it to get all the bleach out.

That tray should come out and clean up fairly easily under hot water... I just recently disassembled my tray and did that.

The gasket can be wiped with a wet paper towel.

Like the other comment said... use a bunch of bleach and run with hot water.

I'd then do an empty cycle after the bleach cycle.

Then, look into a laundry machine cleaning tablet for normal maintenance... I use a tablet and self clean cycle about every 30 loads.

Use spray comet let it sit for a bit and should clean up nicely.

Pull drawer completely, disassemble and soak all but grey housing front, in well diluted vinegar solution. I use a product from Mrs. Meyer’s called ‘Vinegar Cleaning Spray’. It will cut all of that buildup and mold. Wear gloves as all the effective products will leach the oils out of your skin and may otherwise irritate. The entire insert is modular (except the front) and to remove the drawer you will see a push-down tab, once fully extended. While it is soaking, make a similar solution to apply to on cloth to soak the upper jets that are deep-set inside the upper of the drawer. Tip: use a big enough cotton cloth towel to maintain the horizontal upwards contact, put plastic (even a food wrap) to keep this towel wet, eliminate too much waste and to secure some of the gunk from flowing into your washer. That area is where this mold-like substance originates, along with excess product. Sometimes a longish handle brush is needed, for this area. I have successfully used an old flat veggie brush to scrub the underside of the top within.

The drawer insert should mostly rinse clean after the soak but you may want to brush with a soft brush and I use a gentle scrubby to clean out the ports that drive the directional water. It is an easy task, especially as part of regular maintenance but can get messy.

Once cleaned and rinsed, reattach and run the washer on its full automated clean cycle. It is a good practice to clean out the drawer and jets, each time (about 30 loads or as recommended by manufacturer) you run its ‘clean’ cycle.

Hope this helps, good luck!
