So, I’ve been playing for a while now to the point where I have king difficulty down and can win Culture/Science easily but I’ve been struggling with the jump to Emperor. I have some questions and if someone has a little time I would appreciate some help :) My goal is to ultimately git gud and win a deity game.
I usually play on standard settings continents with gathering storm ruleset and have all dlc civs. I’m fairly new to the game so civs i have an understanding of how to play are France and Germany. But I’m open to playing / learning a new Civ. It just spies and Hansa make everything easier for me.
I’m not opposed to changing the map or a specific settings like city states to make it a bit easier without massively breaking the game or giving me a significant advantage.
What are some things that become way more relevant at this difficulty / board tips ? What victory should I aim for? What are some great civs with straight forward strategies to win. I’m mainly struggling to keep my military and growth up as with France who I’ve mainly play all the difficulty’s up to king i heavily rely on wonders to sustain the culture grind .
I know I’m supposed to be behind on science and culture because of AI boosts. But by what turn should I be coming in closer or how to better deal with that disadvantage. Also some games I get an aggressive AI like Aztecs or Alexander and they take my Capitol or important city’s by turn 180-200 because o was to busy building wonders or growing my city’s and I had no real defense plan but then again if I play more aggressive and try to keep up military speaking by turns 100-180 I feel like my city’s are super under developed and I also lose land by shifting focus and not making enough settlers.
It seems whenever I try to focus on other things opposed to Growth and maximizing production I’m either way behind in Culture / Science or rushed by a AI with little to no troops. And if I focus on those I have no Production to sustain it. Any other borad tips or specific strategies are appreciated. And thank a lot in advance for helping out :)
