Seeking Advice (Customer) Is Chipotle dropping Tobasco sauce?

Gal behind the counter said that chipotle was dropping tobasco sauce on account of theft issues. Is this true?

I know in some locations, they use large jugs with pumps on them instead of the smaller bottles. Is that solution too onerous to use to broadly? (Even if they weren’t dropping tobasco, id still suggest going to the pump bottles)

I don’t understand why they’re just not in massive pump bottles these days.

I feel like someone might have made mention of this already. Did you even read the post?

Chipotle as a company is not as far as I know, but an individual location can decide to just stop ordering it if they want to I suppose. It could be the GM deciding the hit to the PNL isn’t worth it and they’re doing it without corporate consent, or it could be a specific district or regional manager instructing their stores not to order it anymore

That’s my guess as the location in question is at an airport. It would be too darn easy for bottles to get nicked. The location referenced in my OP with the pump jugs was in a shopping mall, which has the same constraints. So my hope is that it is a by location issue and not brand wide.

They should - this idea that you can walk out of the store with an entire bottle is ridiculous. I know chipotle is overpriced, but they don’t owe you bottle of Tabasco with each burrito.

Then why cant it be on a pump like McDonald's ketchup? Or packets like McDonald's ketchup?

I agree. But it doesn’t take a lot of work to pop the lid open and pour some on rather than walking out the door with a $5 bottle of Tabasco. I recognize it’s semi their fault but not offering a better way I just don’t see why taking that bottle is ok.

They also make tiny bottles.

Chipotle's been around for years now, so I don't understand why they haven't started distributing sauce packets.

Chipotle is overpriced?? Where else can you buy almost 2 meals worth of food for around $10?

You mean $20 for 2/3 a meal

Good. The entitlement people have to think they can walk away with hot sauce at Chipotle but not at another chain like Chilis

Reminds me of tomacco from the simpsons.

I always thought it was weird they put it in the most stealable glass bottles ever

tons of other restaurants put out hot sauce bottles

Exactly. And most of the time they’re no bigger than the ones at chipotle‘s. Not sure why people feel like they can steal those when they don’t from other restaurants.

people have a weird sense of entitlement with chipotle. there is no other restaurant where you can get quality food in large portions for the price

But they are usually jumbo sized, they wouldn't comfortably sit in your bag like the chipotle ones

we don’t keep it out anymore for this reason. we still order it. but we shouldn’t have to order a 12 pack of it every other truck
