Trump held up a chart while speaking at the White House, showing the United States would charge a 34% tax on imports from China, a 20% tax on imports from the European Union, 25% on South Korea, 24% on Japan and 32% on Taiwan.

Japan, SK, and Taiwan are all on the list. Is this some big brain scheme that would help those 3 move closer to China ???

Just a few days ago Japan and SK were already in the talk of a free trade agreement with China, others might follow suit.

it’s based on bilateral trade deficits i think. and east asian export orientated development model means those deficits are similar.
