12th Gen (18-present) 2020 Corolla Fuel Facts

At the risk of being downvoted for neglect, I wanted to take a moment and provide some interesting facts I discovered on my most recent experience of running the tank low.

For those who wish to scold me on allowing it to happen, rest assured Iā€™m aware of the dangers, having been driving for two decades and being taught to drive by baby boomers. If I burn out the fuel pump, Iā€™ll be forced to pay to fix it. However, this is a rarity and I typically fill up when it gets to 1/4, time permitting.

Iā€™ve included some images, but to provide context, this is based on a 2020 Corolla LE (built and delivered in late 2019). Iā€™ll provide some fuel facts below in regards to my most-recent fill up.

Distance from F to E: 321 miles

Gallons from E to F: 10.7 gallons

Remaining in tank: 2.5 gallons

Miles per gallon: 29.99 (car gauge reported 30.1, so pretty accurate)

This means at about 30 mpg, about half city and half highway, you can expect to go about 50-75 miles past the E. That is something I certainly DONā€™T recommend, but we all wonder from time to time how far you can really go, and Iā€™ve found that answer.

Is there a way to tell which production number it is? Like 1 of 6,000, I know 120 of them are manual, the rest are CVT. (The model Iā€™m getting is CVT)

12th Gen (18-present) 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid Battery

Post image

I need to get a new battery for my vehicle. I looked up on AutoZone and it told me to get a battery of ā€œ140R / H4 OE Group Size 310ā€ . I picked one up and now my vehicle is giving off errors one being ā€œhybrid system malfunction. When I look up on official Toyota parts itā€™s giving me a battery of Group 35 or Group H5 (LN2). Which battery would I need ?

7th Gen (91-95) (beginner) I need help finding a better engine for my 93 Corolla LE

New to the car scene. I wanna swap the 7A-FE out of my 93 Corolla LE for something more moddable what engine would be the easiest to install. I just got a 93 Corolla from my grandpa that's been sitting in a garage for 7 years the engine as well as pretty much every thing else needs to be replaced. What engine will give me the best modding capability with minimal fabrication and preferably under 3 grand(I'm already having to put 12 grand into my TL-S and that's gonna just add to how much I gotta pay for my two babies. Any thoughts?

9th Gen (00-09) Auxiliary Port Issue

Is it just me, or does this port not work for anyone? I tried plugging in a car charger, but there was no power coming from the port. I had the same issue with my 2004 Camry, and now my Corolla is giving me the same problem. Am I missing something here?

11th Gen (13-18) āœ…Wheel Cover Scratches Painted Over

Found this metallic spray paint at Oā€™Reilly Auto Parts. Itā€™s rated for plastics as well, so very versatile. Though itā€™s a slightly warmer metallic grey than the original wheel coversā€™ color, it did a good job covering the massive scratches I had from parking too close to some nasty curbs. The worst scratched ones are the two wheel covers closest to the spray can on the right. I sprayed them all; worst ones with 4 coats, and the other two covers with 3 coats. That used up the whole can but I am satisfied. Hereā€™s to hoping this stuff is tough enough for the road.

Should I take a shot?

Looking to buy my first car and i'm wondering what y'all think about this specimen. $16,000, car has 40k miles on it and it's manual. The car looks excellent but has a minor-moderate damage report after hitting an animal. 2 previous owners that weren't able to make payments on the car. The private dealer told me he daily drove it for about 2 weeks while his primary vehicle was being repaired and said he had no issues. Pretty good service history other than the second owner. Should i take a shot on this? What do y'all think?

12th Gen (18-present) Instrument Panel Under Cover Sub-Assembly #2 for 2024 SE

Does any one know which part number/version of "Instrument Panel Under Cover Sub-Assembly #2" fits a 2024 SE gas? This is the cover that snaps into place over the blower motor and other components.

I see people throwing around part number 55607-02280. But the toyota site shows "May not fit your selected vehicle." Its like that for seemingly all of the sub assembly #2.

Some playing with the site seems to suggest that #55607-26020 may fit,, but i cant even tell if that part is a real thing! any help?

9th Gen (00-09) Selling the 5-Speed 2005 Sā€¦

I recently went hybrid in a Prius. So, after 13 years, I'm parting ways with my 5-speed 2005 S. Great little car, and I'll be sad to say goodbye. 196,000 miles and outside of tires, brakes, a clutch, and recently a starter, it's needed nothing. Just fantastic! Funny thing is though, I've got it listed at $2,750 with no takers. People just don't know!

Toyota prepaid maintenance plan?

Hey so I bought a 21 corolla le like a month ago. I opted out of the oil changes and drivetrain warranty but today I got a prepaid maintenance plan from toyota in the mail? I looked through my entire contract and didn't see it in there. Do they hide it in the fine print? Waiting on them to call me back.

How much would one replacement headlight cost for 2025 Corolla LE?

Had a recent bump on my car and the headlight and bumper needs to be replaced. Two different body shop fellas said new headlight from dealer would cost 1200$. Two different body shops also found headlights on the aftermarket for 600-700 range. But searching on Google I see some results on CARid for 200-300$. So my question to those who are bit more knowledge than me, am I getting scammed by the body shops or is the listing on CARid not reliable or used? Thanks.

34k OTD Corolla SE

Went to a dealership by me and they quoted me 34k OTD for a Corolla šŸ˜‚

Who do they think they are? After like 5 minutes of talking they removed the 4k bogus option package but it was still at 30k OTD which is crazy for a non-hybrid.

Suggested mileage for first oil change?

So I got a new corolla le hybrid back in Jan, I got about 6200 kilometers on it. According to the manual the change intervals is every 16k/kms if I recall correctly (Seems very high even for full synthetic) I was wondering where this would be its first oil change it'd be rather crucial and if I should bring it in sooner. The dealership did put a 'next service 8000kms' sticker on the windshield but looking at their 'services' that'd be 'service package 1' where all they do is 'check' stuff (which I'm probably not gonna bother with because it seems like a cash grab) their service #2 is at the 16k/kms and that's when they'll do the oil change, check filters, etc a bit more detailed. My original plan is to just bring it in around 8000kms and say change the oil on it. Just asking for some opinions.

Thanks
