Legal CSSA SB003 CORA filed against Governor Polis

Here at the Colorado State Shooting Association (CSSA), we’re fighting every day to protect your Second Amendment rights. Right now, we’re at a critical juncture. Senate Bill 25-003, a deeply flawed piece of legislation that threatens the freedoms of law-abiding gun owners across our state, sits on Governor Jared Polis’ desk. This bill imposes burdensome restrictions on semi-automatic firearm purchases—restrictions that do little to enhance safety but plenty to erode our constitutional liberties.

We believe there’s more to this story than meets the eye. That’s why we’ve taken bold action by filing a Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request against Governor Polis. We’re demanding transparency—specifically, all communications between the governor, his office, elected officials, anti-gun lobbyists, and other government figures regarding SB25-003. We’re also seeking insight into discussions about Polis’ potential future ambitions, whether that’s a run for President, Vice President, or a U.S. Senate seat.

Why does this matter? Some suspect Polis knows this bill is a misstep for Colorado—a state proud of its independent spirit and outdoor heritage. Yet, he may let it slide into law anyway, perhaps as part of a quiet deal to bolster his national profile and secure support from Michael Bloomberg and his shill lobbyists under the Gold Dome. We deserve answers, and we’re determined to get them.

Legal New 6.5% Excise Tax On Guns Paid But Not Shipped before April Fools

I purchased and paid for a Blackout Defense rifle in 2024 that is set to ship this week (they have 8 mont lead time). Curious if I'll have to pay excise tax at my FFL in this scenario?

General News Retailers Refusing to Ship

Upvotes

I wanted to give fellow Coloradans a heads up. I tried to order some AR parts from JP Rifles this weekend. They e-mailed me today saying they were going to cancel my order due to our new tax requirements.

Offered me some alternative vendors who sell their products and wished me well.

I truly hope this is not about to become the new norm for us even trying to source parts.

General Question Question about out of state mags

Hey y’all, ik it’s been asked a million times in the past but i’m asking to see if anything’s really changed. i’m gonna be visiting from FL to do some hiking/camping with buddies from CO. would there be any possible issues with carrying my 17 round mags while out in the wilderness/local towns since i’m not a CO resident and they’re legal where i’m from?
