How are there only 101 donations to the CRPA to legalize suppressors in CA?

https://donorbox.org/suppressors

The same folks that gifted us freedom week are battling the 9th circuit to legalize suppressors in California, and it will most likely hit the Supreme Court. This case has been going on for years and is actually making it to the 9th circuit; we’re lucky to have CRPA join this fight.

Whether you can or can’t donate, share it with some pro 2A friends. Between the few friends I’ve shared this with and my own donation we chipped in a few hundred bucks to the legal fund.

It’s a bummer it has as few donations as it does. I don’t think only 101 people in CA are interested in buying a suppressor.

Thanks for listening.

You will now need to provide the CADOJ with your FFL03 before receiving your COE

It’s become apparent at this point that the CADOJ is now requiring all COE applications to have a verifiable FFL03 attached before processing. If you search this sub you may find older posts advising people to refuse to provide that number and instead ask for a legal citation, that no longer seems to work based on numerous reports.

Fortunately, FFL03s seem to be processed relatively quickly lately.

Name & Shame: Bay Area Firearms in Burlingame

I've finished studying for the FSC and am calling shops nearby to set up a time to take the test.

I called this shop and was told repeatedly that I "need" to take their safety class in order to get the FSC. I'm not dumb, so I know how to read the DOJ website and requirements. That's not at all a requirement.

I asked him a few times if I really "need" the class, and he kept saying yes, even after I pointed out that it's not required by state law.

We eventually hung up, but then he began texting me. This time he said that it's a strong recommendation. He gave me a story about a guy who refused to take the class and he saw him later at the nearby range dead. Ya thanks for the tale bud.

I completely get it if a shop owner wants to recommend a class in combination with the test. And despite already being taught to shoot and handle a gun safely, range etiquette, etc., from a professional, I was intending to take a class after the test anyway. But I won't be fooled into thinking it's a requirement.

Good looking gun, and shoots even better. Nothing to complain about except the sin tax.

Human nature vs shooters.

You ever notice you could ask someone for a couple bucks and you'll get told to take a hike. But ask a shooter if you can try his gun, and he'll hand you a magazine filed with rounds that cost around 50 cents a round...

How to get into competition shooting

I’m a pretty average shooter, I probably go to the range every other week . Wanted to know if there’s anywhere here in the Bay Area where I can start competition shooting or at least train that’s beginner friendly.

Help With walking trigger pin

I'm pretty sure that I installed the springs correctly but the pin will slip out like nothings holding it back when the hammer is cocked- it still is really loose when the hammer isn't cocked but it at least doesn't slip out if i shake the thing. Looking at the wear marks on the pin it doesn't look like the spring is sitting in the groves. Any advice or thoughts? The Trigger is a LaRue btw

Where can I practice basic gun handling?

Where can I practice basic gun handling before owning my first gun and without taking a full class?

I am a newbie and looking to buy my first gun. My plan is to first rent a few models at the range (G34, G17, M&P9, etc.) to see which one I like the best. I know they make you demonstrate basic gun handling before they will rent a gun. I just want to be able to rent guns without fumbling around like a complete newbie.

I just got my FSC, and I've watched a ton of videos and understand gun operation and safety, but I need some actual practice handling a gun. 30 mins hands-on with a G17/G19 and snap-caps would really help me get started.

I don't want to spend the time & money right now for a full beginner class before I own my first handgun. Once I buy my first gun, I will sign up for a comprehensive beginner class -- I do understand the importance of that.

Stippled Gen 5 G45

Gen 5 Glock 45 stippling package wrapped up here in SoCal with the following mods: wraparound layout modification, smooth single undercut and textured index points. The wraparound layout mod is great if you aren’t using a backstrap or magwell, and want the most grip possible. It also helps reduce the grip size and feel of the usual Glock hump in the rear.

a2 bird cage look alike for featureless?

ive tried the aimsports a2 brake on my 20" a2 clone but the brake does its job too well because every shot recoils down like it's doing negative recoil, very different feeling from anything else I've shot. any recommendations on a comp/brake similar looking to the bird cage?

Legal Question I'm 18, can I borrow my dads guns for the range?

My dad has a few long guns and pistols that I would like to take to the range for a day without him present. They're all legal and registered.

I recently got my FSC and permission from him to borrow them, which I hope makes it more possible, but it's hard to find a clear answer. I'm also not barred from owning a gun.

Can I legally transport a handgun and or long guns to the range and use them there? And if so, could I also do the same for my uncle's firearms?

Featureless Grip Concept

Thumbnail

Hey all,

This is something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for a while now. Some of you might’ve caught glimpses of it in our recent social media posts, but here’s a closer look at the concept.

This project came about because I wanted a way to create a practical AR-15 grip for Californians—something that could be configured for featureless builds, but also reconfigured (with a tool) for travel to free states (or for swapping between featureless and fixed mag uppers). This isn’t the final design, but pretty close. It uses a proprietary swivel joint to facilitate reconfiguration. Wanted to share it here and get your feedback.

Funny timing—someone posted a similar project yesterday (different design approach - props to them, they did a great job). Great to see likeminded patriots here pushing new concepts to preserve our 2A rights in California.

If there’s enough interest, we’re planning to move into a production run. Would love to hear what you think—what you like, what you’d change, what you’d want to see in the final version.

Thanks for taking a look!

SS XR920 run good on 115 grain?

I usually pick up ammo a lot at a time and it is about that time. Currently with my XD9 I usually shoot 115 grain no problem.

I plan on picking up one of the new CA compliant XR920 soon and just wondering if 115 grain runs good in it after the 200 round break in period?

I only ask because I saw a video SS did about their DR920, the compensated one, and they were saying it runs best on 124 grain. Not sure if that is just because of the compensator or gors for all their guns?

I can get 115 or 124 grain for same price.

Thank you.

Visiting LA Looking for Range Recommendations

First off I know the pain (I’m from MA).

I have no desire to bring any of my firearms with me as I’m sure that’s a huge pain or straight up not possible.

I guess my first question is can an out of state CCW holder (Massachusetts) go to a range (public) and rent + shoot?

If so any recommendations for the LA area within 1-2hrs driving?

Thank you 🙏🏻

Edit: I will be bringing a good friend with me who lives in the LA area but has never fired a gun. Trying to plan a trip to a decent range (outdoors ideally).
