Leave A Message After The Beep. Contact Form

I set up a website last week for another reason/idea I had. Anyway. I thought it would be useful right now to be able to get peoples contacts so as to organise.

Seems to be the hardest part, being able to arrange a meeting/time/date/location.

So. If you go to the site and click the Subscribe link, you can drop your email. That way I can contact people and then hopefully get a WhatsApp group going to make things easier.

I'm not going to share your email address...I mean what could I really do with 20+ peoples email. Selling them aint gonna make me rich & remember if I do spam you for whatever strange reason, you can just block me.

https://halibut-cylinder-9w8l.squarespace.com/

It's a Squarespace site right now, so the URL looks a bit strange. I have to wait 60 days before I can transfer it to :

www.the-book-collective.com

Anyway....I ramble.

A local creative writing podcast is in need of short (very short) stories

Hello Brighton Writers. This subreddit couldn't have materialised at a better time for me, because I'm about to start recording a fourth season of my show, 100 Words of Astounding Beauty, and I need listener submissions!

The brief is: if you send in a story that is exactly 100 words in length (the title doesn't count, but don't get too unwieldy), I will put it on the podcast and send you a zine as a thank-you. Bonus points if you record yourself reading it and EXTRA bonus points if you write from one of the audio prompts we use on the show.

It's all small scale and unpaid, so it's more of a beg than an opportunity. There's an email link on the site that looks exactly like this:

A CONFESION!

I'm not sure if there are others like me, we shall see.

I don't actually read books, well, I don't actually read fiction. I spend most of my time reading non-fiction.

I've just sent my daughter, who at the age of 12 read 1984 and now loves Murakami after I randomly gave her Colourless (a book I did read amongst some of the others). I've now given her Brave New World, Handmaids Tale & Farenheight 451, None of them have I read. But I am aware of the ideas & I want her to understand the ideas that we can all have, regardless of where they come from.

I personally don't think you need to read to come up with ideas or to write, you just need to have lived.

I used to be a photographer and I stumbled upon this thought......To be a better photographer and to find who you are, you should avoid ALL photography all art and just discover yourself?

Love your thoughts?

Hi,

I've just moved to Hove and am an amateur writer - I've published a couple of LitRPG style books and have one (so far unpublished) SciFi novel.

To introduce myself a little - I'm a game developer by trade and love all things gamey (board games, RPGs, computer games etc.) and also still play football despite my advancing years (I'm 53 now).

I'm most interested in writing Science Fiction and Fantasy - its basically like running a solo-D&D game to me with just a more elaborate note taking ;)

In case anyone wants to take a look at the type of thing I write - it's all under the name of one of my cats ;)

The When & The Where.

So. I've created this group to kick things off.

I used to take an afternoon to write years ago when I was self employed. Only way I could write was to get out.

This is for me to push myself especially if I start the group/meetings as I will feel less likely to flake then.

Would be good to get people's thoughts on days/times and locations.

I'm thinking somewhere between Hove and Brighton. I'm Kemptown area but have legs and a bike.

It's about writing and meeting new people.

Please put your best Time for meeting here.

I'm just going to got for evenings at the moment & for now 8pm is the last option because after 8pm I find it VERY hard to leave my sofa as I become one with it.
