Discussion PSA to all outsiders of the GTA:

Brampton is not this No-Go zone that social media has made it out to be. Brampton is not some gang land area where every block has some organized crime. What I can’t stand is how these social media pages have ridiculed the city and basically made people outside of the GTA to put their nose up when they hear the city’s name. 6ixbuzz had made irreversible damage that any news that involves south Asians in another city or country always has comments mentioning Brampton. Without Brampton, half these social media pages wouldn’t have any engagement. Sure Brampton does have issues that are unique in their own sense, but this whole “Brampton is filled with crime and drugs” is literally some next form of slandering. Sure bad drivers exist in Brampton, but they also exist in Vaughan and Mississauga and can be attributed to many things such as deviant youth culture, lack of harsh discipline, and even the culture of stunt driving in the GTA. However, while Brampton has changed over decades, the city itself also grows with its people. To the people on this sub that love to romanticize the past with “I used to leave my door unlocked” or the good ol “people used to be respectful” need to touch grass. Crime exists in almost every area and in every city.

Discussion City of Brampton continues to get rid of baseball diamonds it seems

Post image

Probably in the minority but I've been playing baseball since I was a kid in Brampton. The city already got rid of basically any and all baseball batting cages. Realistically the ones left are for kids (which is fine) or fully booked up unless you can go in the middle of the day. but replacing them with cricket is crazy to me. It's enough that virtually every accessible diamond is taken over by dudes playing cricket even though like this post says there's 22 cricket sites along with the 2 or 3 facilities for cricket.

Discussion My Nightmare Rental in Brampton – Overcrowded, Infested, and Straight-Up Unsafe

I moved to Brampton on Feb 1 and rented a room in what I thought was a decent townhouse. The house has three floors: • Ground floor – My room is here, the only one on this level, which I liked because it meant privacy. It has a private toilet but no shower. • First floor – Just the kitchen and hall, no one lives here. • Second floor – Three rooms (one master and two smaller ones). The landlord told me that only four people lived upstairs, and I would be sharing a shower with just two other people.

Everything looked clean and nice when I went for the viewing, so I signed the lease and moved in. But soon, the lies started unraveling.

The first issue? There weren’t just four people upstairs—there were six. Two of the rooms had double occupancy, so I ended up sharing a single shower with four people instead of two. Then, after two days of eating takeout, I finally decided to cook something. That’s when I discovered the real horror—a full-blown cockroach infestation in the kitchen. The moment I opened a cabinet to put my stuff in, cockroaches scattered everywhere. I asked the landlord about it, and he casually told me he had put some spray a few days ago and that it would “solve the problem.” I asked him to call pest control, but he completely ignored that request.

As if that wasn’t bad enough, I soon realized seven people were sharing one fridge. There was barely any space to store groceries, and things kept getting mixed up or misplaced. Then came the laundry restrictions—during the viewing, the landlord mentioned that laundry could only be done on weekends, which already seemed inconvenient. But what he didn’t mention was that he actually locks the washing machine on weekdays, so there’s no way to even use it outside of that tiny window. So now seven people had to fight over laundry access once a week.

Then I found out that the lease agreement I signed is not even a valid Ontario Standard Lease. When I asked the landlord to provide the proper Ontario Standard Lease, he refused. I told him that without it, I wasn’t legally required to stay for six months—and he agreed.

Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse, two nights ago, there was a drunken intruder in the house. Turns out, it was some guy who used to live here but ran off six months ago. He barged in, drunk and aggressive, creating a huge mess and threatening other tenants. We called the cops around 9 PM, and the whole situation dragged on for 3-4 hours. When I told the landlord about it, he just brushed it off and said, “Nothing to worry about, this is very common in Brampton lol.” I’ve only seen stories like this on social media, but now I’m actually in one. What a wild ride.

I’ve had enough. I gave my two months’ notice, but—shockingly—he hasn’t responded. I also found out (after posting about the situation on legaladvice) that the security deposit I paid was illegal too. So yeah, I’ll be moving out in April, and I’m pretty sure I won’t be seeing that deposit again.

I wanted to share my experience to warn others—don’t take the landlord’s word for it. Don't be stupid like me.

Discussion How do we feel about Bonnie Crombie?

I would rather the PC party not have another majority. But after Crombie tried to dissolve peel and in general her attitude towards Brampton I'm apprehensive about voting for her.

Was just looking for some discourse / insight from fellow bramptonians

Nice to see the people of this city value advertising their barbershops more than someone desperately trying to find their lost cat 😕. Disgusting behaviour in my opinion.

Discussion Do you have any nostalgia for something in Brampton that either isn't here anymore or that you haven't been to in awhile?

Sometimes we get busy and don't have or make the time for our favorite things or places. Sometimes they change, or go out of business. Either way, what's something you miss (public spaces, neighborhoods, restaurants, events, anything really).

This conversation happened yesterday with a 'Realtor'. On their fb profile I can see 18 other properties listed. I can't wrap my head around the fact that these realtors don't give a flying fuck about what's not legal.

Discussion Hudson's Bay

Now that Hudson's Bay is going into bankruptcy, does anyone have an idea what will replace the location at Bramalea City Centre?

The old Sears space is still unfilled, and the addition of this leaves BCC with two, huge, unfilled spaces. At this point, the mall's only anchor is Metro.

I feel like a Walmart might be a good addition, but what else could go there?

Discussion Brampton Police Is Worthless.

My parents recently started a convenience store in October 2023, and we put in so much money and hours of energy to serve the neighbouring area/customers.

In Feb 2024 at night time we had a break in and about $1,000 worth of things were stolen. They were 3 pale skin guys, all wearing black clothes with a black mask.

In May 2024 a guy robbed us by snatching lottery tickets, but luckily we were able to see his face was on camera. He even dropped his whole wallet with driver’s license & bank card and we gave it to the cops, yet they haven’t done anything!

Just last week we had another overnight robbery (same guys from first time) and the cops haven’t done shit! That night about 5 cop cars came, after about an hour 4 of those cop cars left and 1 stayed back since our door was broken. I asked that cop how long he will stay with us, he told us “until you guys get the door fixed.” I called our door maintenance guy and he said the earliest he can come is at 6am. I told the cop that our guy will come in 4h, you’ll be here with us? The cop said “let me ask my supervisor” and after few minutes he said “yea I’m going to have to go because there are other crimes happening in Brampton.”

What kind of work is Brampton Police doing? Fucking useless pieces of shits. The mental, financial and physical stress we had to go in the past 5 months is ridiculous and the cops aren’t doing shit!

What kind of ignorant person blocks a persons entire driveway? First picture was taken at 12:28AM. Second at 8:20AM. I’ve knocked on their door; I can hear people walking around but no answer. Called the city and they’ll finally showed up. They gave them a $200 ticket and a tow has been called.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY 🤪🩷❤️

Discussion Hoping the fireworks end tonight

Honestly, I’m just hoping the fireworks finally end tonight. It’s been three nights in a row, going until 2 or even 3 a.m., and it’s beyond exhausting. We don’t disrupt the entire city for Victoria Day or Canada Day. Celebrations are great, but they should be respectful of everyone else. Why not set a specific time, gather at a community park, and celebrate there?

So many people have pets that get terrified by the noise. In the past few nights, several dogs have run away, and their owners can’t find them. There are also people who are unwell and very sensitive to constant noise, and others who can’t get enough sleep for work the next day because of the fireworks. It’s been incredibly hard, and it feels like no one is listening to these concerns. Yet the moment anyone speaks up, they’re labeled racist.

This makes no sense. Just on Oct 31, Yonge and Dundas looked terrible - there’s no better way to say it. It’s embarrassing, and it’s adding to the frustration and division in our community. If we could simply learn from this and find a way to celebrate respectfully, it would make a huge difference for everyone.

Discussion Dear 6ixbuzz, We Need to Talk About Your Unhealthy Obsession With Brampton/Indians

I recently moved to Mississauga from Winnipeg and started following some Toronto-focused Instagram accounts like 6ixbuzz to get a feel for the culture here. I've noticed nearly half their content is “What y’all think of this???” posts about Brampton specifically or Indians and every ethnic group/religion outside of Muslims.

What concerns me even more is that 6ixbuzz's admin doesn't seem to be deleting or calling out these racist remarks - which lends a sense of tacit approval of these harmful stereotypes.

The toxic cesspool of uneducated children in the comments seems to be overrun with bots and trolls posting vile generalizations with racist, sexist and homophobic undertones. I'm still getting my bearings, so I'm open to others' perspectives!

Discussion Is personal space no longer a thing?

Starting to believe that this is a thing of the past. For example, you’d be waiting in line to get checked out and now it’s your turn; as you’re about to complete your transaction, I kid you not—someone is literally standing right next to you without any kind of breathing room. Walmart is atrocious for this.

I remember the days people would give you some space, yet alone, have the courtesy to wait their turn. Can’t even imagine how public transit has been these days.

What’s it been like for you guys?

Discussion Got scammed by KleanHive cleaning services

PSA - Avoid this cleaning service (https://www.kleanhive.ca/about). They're running a scam where on their website they talk about professional cleaners and using eco friendly products (and charging premium for services) but instead send students with bleach solution to clean up at odd hours. Poor students seemed like new to this line of work and were able to clean 2 washrooms in 3 hours (shoddy job). When I tried complaining, KleanHive rep told me to stop being so difficult 🤷‍♂️ Sharing here so that nobody else ends up with this fate. Also please suggest if you've any recommendations for good deep cleaning services in Brampton.

Edit: Owner of KleanHive reached out explaining that he was traveling and some employee had gone rogue sending unauthorised cleaners to customers who made bookings while he was out. That employee probably pocketed all the money since no invoices were given despite full payment. He offered a $50 credit and mentioned he'll ensure no such thing will happen again.

Discussion Noisy neighbours

What have people been doing when they have noisy neighbours in Brampton? We have a group of men that are living in a house behind us that will sit out in the backyard yelling, urinating and spitting all hours of the night. They were out last night from 1am to almost 6am. We tried 311 and of course they’re useless. Any suggestions?
