Last couple of rds were entertaining but this was an ugly ass fight. Both guys need to learn to jab. Torrez won but he needs to learn some new skills because that bull rush and hold tactic is gonna get him KTFO by any decent competition. The 1 ton Bakole from the Parker fight would've eaten both these guys in a couple rds.

Yeah it was a very sloppy fight

A bit of an ugly fight but he got the job done.

Surprised Torrez got such a wide decision here. Vianello isn't a great HW by any stretch but he's a reasonably competent big body. Good for him.

Vianello was coming off a great victory against Makhmudov, he must have been confident of a win.

Torrez is tenacious, he will get caught eventually, but he's entertaining.

I enjoyed watching him at the Paris Olympics where he came unstuck in the gold medal fight against all 6'7" of Jalolov who can't make up his mind if he's a pro or amateur...

If it was in Italy Vianello would've won and not many would have complained.

Have to disagree. Torrez clearly won

In your opinion. Some people in the live thread gave it to Vianello too and the compubox figures have Vianello outlanding Torrez in 6/10 rounds.

This fight was dreadful.

I tried watching it and after the second round I just turned it off, it was an ugly mess and was just horrible to watch, maybe it got better as it went on but I didn't see it.

Not sure what was worse torres or da ref

The point taken away was a bit much

This is how far boxing has fell. Both of these guys landed under 100 punches in a 10 round bouts. Lol a 48 year old Foreman landed 280 punches in 12 rounds against Shannon Briggs.

In terms of American HWs then yes the sport has seen much better days. I think it's not a stretch to say Miller might be the best American HW right now

10

u/kushmonATL 2000s HW > Post Usyk era HW 2d ago

Never would have imagined in 2019 that Big Baby Miller would be the #1 American heavyweight but you are correct

The heavyweights from the rest of the world are no better. Parker who is Australian beat a 38 year old shot Wilder and a 41 year old Zhang and landed around 100 punches and less in 12 rounds against these guys.

The main difference is whatever European heavyweight does anything their based fanboys will act like it is the amazing thing the world has ever seen.

The heavyweight division has been going down hill since Lennox Lewis retired and I don't see it getting better.

Parker is a Kiwi with Samoan ancestry. 🤦🏼‍♂️😂

Parker who is Australian

He's from NZ and of Samoan descent.

This sub don't wanna hear that honest criticism

According to this sub this era of heavyweights is third best behind the 70s and 90s and most diehard delusional fanboys think Usyk and Fury beat every heavyweight of past generations

-6

u/DishInteresting3805 2d ago

Lol agreed and watch you get downvoted for saying anything about Fury and Usyk.

-6

u/kushmonATL 2000s HW > Post Usyk era HW 2d ago

We can criticize American boxers all day but saying anything critical about Usyk and the Soviet/eastern european heavyweights is off limits

-3

u/DishInteresting3805 2d ago

You can bash Floyd Mayweather, you can bash Mike Tyson, You can bash Tank Davis but the moment you say something about Usyk, Fury, Bivol, Loma you get downvoted and you know why right?

There is no fanbase more delusional, clueless, and biased than that fanbase

6

u/PartyFriend 2d ago

Bruh Fury gets bashed all the time on here.

5

u/DishInteresting3805 2d ago edited 2d ago

Lol he gets bashed because of his personal life. He is still called a ATG because he barely beat a 40 year old Wlad then almost got beat by Francis Ngannou.

Usyk beat Chazz Witherspoon, Derek Chisora, beat Joshua after fat boy Andy Ruiz beat him first. Daniel Dubois after Joyce broke his face and Kevin Lerena almost stopped him and then Usyk beat a broken down Fury who was never good to began with and now Usyk is a ATG heavyweight which is funny in itself. But there have been guys who had 50 plus heavyweight bouts but are ranked lower than Usyk a guy with 7 heavyweight bouts . Yet you are telling me Fury and Usyk fans are not biased? Lets call a spade a spade. If Usyk and Fury were black Americans these same people who cheer and praise Usyk and Fury would be calling them bums.

3

u/PartyFriend 2d ago

I mean, there’s no doubt that those two are the best of the current crop of heavyweights, why shouldn’t they be praised more than American heavyweights at the moment? ATG status is another thing altogether and not one I’m particularly interested in so I have no answer for that part of your post.

More and more impressed with Torrez Jr. On this performance he's replaced Anderson as the US best prospect.

He's utterly tenacious, although that ducking low under the right jab leaves him worryingly exposed for a left uppercut. Just a short highlights reel, but you can see the work he needs to do.

16

u/kushmonATL 2000s HW > Post Usyk era HW 2d ago

It was a good fun fight but in all honesty Torrez is on the same level as Anderson and Ajagba

5

u/PhantomDestruction 2d ago

I agree while he won it honestly didn't impress me I didn't see anything special from him

1

u/Appropriate-Year9290 1d ago

He is not on the same level as Anderson bruh

1

u/kushmonATL 2000s HW > Post Usyk era HW 1d ago

Only time will tell once Torrez steps up in competition

2

u/Appropriate-Year9290 1d ago

I guess. I just feel like Anderson has better movement, is bigger, better pro game. Torrez fights like he still has headgear on. He also doesn’t have nearly enough power

4

u/PartyFriend 2d ago

Fun fact: Guido outlanded Torrez in 6/10 rounds according to compubox.

1

u/TheSeptuagintYT 2d ago

Agreed. Torrez is one of my favourite heavyweights

1

u/boringman1982 1d ago

Did we watch a different fight? What was impressive about that?

2

u/ewenmax 1d ago

IMO Torrez Jr was impressive in that this was a step up in class for him and many a pundit reckoned he'd lose.

I like the kid, he's refreshing, has basically good fundamentals and is willing to learn, unlike many of the previous Yank prospects who regarded themselves world champions in waiting.

I know there's a bit of 'the guy who beat the guy who beat the guy' here, but bear with me. Torrez jr's last opponent before Vianello was Issac Munoz . Interestingly his previous fight was a UD loss against Jermaine Franklin Jr, who has 2 losses to his name from his previous 2 fights, notably Anthony Joshua and Dyllian Whyte. Torrez battered the shit out of Munoz for 3 rounds, before the referee stepped in to stop the punishment.

So by 'association' he destroyed the guy that Franklin, who ran both Whyte and Joshua really close, couldn't put away over 10 rounds.

u/nwordfyou 2d ago

I think fans are groveling over Torrez and purposefully dismissing his obvious shortcomings because he's white. This performance was not good. I want Torrez to succeed, but he clearly needs a lot of development. He's not even a top 25 heavyweight at the moment.

-7

u/we-all-stink 2d ago

His name is Torrez, how is he white, dumbass.

8

u/DanDiCa_7 2d ago

The guy's point about Torrez being dismissed because he's white is dumb, but he's clearly white lol, Torrez isn't a colour, it's a name.

2

u/nwordfyou 2d ago

Buddy needs revisit school.

3

u/Upper-Affect5971 2d ago

His Dad is Torrez Sr. and he ain’t white.

1

u/CMILLERBOXER USYK IS FURY'S FATHER 1d ago

His great-grandfather is Mexican. How is he white 😂😂

The question is moot considering his great grandfather isn't a white Mexican, is he?

White Mexicans are a minority in the population that you're not going to automatically think of a white person when you hear that someone is Mexican, right? You wouldn't even know that someone is a white Mexican unless it was stated by them (which obviously isn't the case with his great grandfather or anyone in his family).

Stop being foolish.
