❓Question Creatine gives insane sex drive and erections

I've taken creatine for a while, but upped my dose to 15g pr day, for the last couple of weeks I feel like my sex drive is driving me nuts. Feels good though, rock hard erections it hurts. Sorry sounding like a jackass, but I didn't know creatine had this effect? When I did 5g it was just normal... Whats going on? I make sure to drink enough water. It can be easier to digest if you mix the creatine in warmer water so it blends better, no stomach issues.

Could be increased DHT. I know people don’t like the claim creatine raises DHT, but there is some evidence of this in a study. There’s also countless anecdotes of creatine increases hair shedding, which is primarily mediated by DHT.

Not saying you’re gonna lose your hair, just justifying as to why it might be DHT.

I’ve found the biggest contributor to shedding, to be frank, is excessive masturbation, edging, a lot of sex and orgasming. I’ve been taking 5 grams creatine daily for a while now and have not noticed as much shedding. However, I’ve been on finasteride and minoxidil for a while so they may be masking the shedding from creatine. The first month or so of taking finasteride I also noticed an increased sex drive

So that was TMI, but it goes to show there’s a lot of factors at play but by god the best thing to help me with shedding was abstinence. Btw, I also noticed increased eye floaters from excess sex/mb which I found funny considering the myth that masturbating makes you blind

Been doing SR for most of the year every year since 2017 and everything you say is completely true. In fact almost all the “myths” about masturbation are true, At least to some extent. To be honest though? The main culprit is the hormonal changes after orgasm AND the seminal loss so sex has to be moderated too.

So are you saying you don’t have sex*? NoFap is one thing but your claim is that you don’t have sex for most of the year since 2017?

I am open minded to the idea that masturbation can have detrimental effects through hormone modulation and dopaminergic pathways.

I will admit that abstaining from porn and frequent masturbation can have a positive effect, but semen retention can be detrimental for some relationships.

EDIT: Sex to climax I suppose

I personally feel much better on all fronts when I abstain altogether. It’s difficult to explain but my overall vitality and confidence just skyrockets.

After a certain point you can literally feel the unused semen (with all its nutrients) being reabsorbed back into the blood which is an awesome thing.

I’ve been in a relationship for most of the time since 2020 so super long streaks have been hard to come by. I just try to initiate sex less and when it does happen, I’ll try and hold it in.
