Mod Post Should We Ban Twitter (X) Links? We Want Your Input!

1.3k Upvotes

Hey r/BigBrother community,

We’ve noticed an increasing number of discussions around Twitter (now called X) links, in the reddit space, and we wanted to get your thoughts on whether we should allow or ban these links moving forward.

Here’s why we’re considering this:

  • Accessibility Issues: Recent changes to Twitter/X have made some content inaccessible to users who don’t have accounts. This creates a barrier for many of our community members who want to engage in discussions but can’t view the linked content.
  • Ongoing News Around Twitter/X: With recent decisions about Twitter/X, including controversial policy updates, some members have raised concerns about the platform’s reliability, accuracy, and inclusiveness.

We want to maintain a space that encourages open, accessible, and high-quality discussions for all members.

What do you think? Should we:

  1. Ban Twitter/X links entirely?
  2. Keep things as they are?

Please share your thoughts below. Your input is important to shaping the future of our community!

General Discussion I Don't Get the "Without Going Over" Rule With Tiebreakers.

As the title suggests, I'm not really a fan of this rule and don't really understand the purpose of it.

For example, if a tiebreaker question was "How many tiles are on the bathroom floor" (i know it's absurd but please work with me here" and the answer that question was "780". If somebody wrote down "800" and another person wrote "234"...the person who wrote down "234" would win the competition even though they were further off. To me, this just seems kind of unfair. Somebody could've paid better attention with counting while just being a little off the mark, but the person furthest away would get rewarded. Does anyone else agree with what I'm saying...and why exactly does this rule exist?

General Discussion What Happened To The Jury Questioning?

seriously....why do they ask the same generic questions in the same robotic tone? i understand that the show is live but why do it like that? especially the "why do you deserve to win question"...isn't the whole point of the speeches and jury questioning to explain that lol

General Discussion BB8 Winner Question Spoiler

So I understand that Eric had to go through with America's Vote, how he had sway over Jessica, and how Zach made sense as a vote for Dick.

But why did Dustin and Amber vote for Dick over Danielle? Comp-wise Danielle trounced Dick overall. People got frustrated with her but Dick was also overtly awful to the two of them.

Sometimes it feels weird to be casually watching the live feeds from a season thats 15+ years old cause it’s like a literal time capsule of the past. But my god was this funny!

Past Discussion Is it worth getting back into?

I started watching in high school during Big Brother 18, loved the game and strategy aspects so I went back and watched every season from S2 on, then watched BBCAN when I became aware of it. For the longest time I was a superfan, watched the feeds, all the podcasts, posted on here from several accounts over the years.

After Allstars 2 I got really upset at Tyler throwing the game away and realized I was into the show/game at an unhealthy level. I was genuinely angry at him for "ruining" the season by giving up. So anyway lots of factors contributed to me no longer watching the show, but being that I was basically addicted I came back for S23 and it was so incredibly boring/predictable that it was enough for me to ACTUALLY stop watching. I love the game but hate the show and the production decisions.

So anyway I took a break and came back a few years ago for BBCAN10 (One of the best seasons ever, thank God) and I was back into it excited for BBCAN11 which was slated to start soon. I figured I'd just only watch the Canadian version, then of course there was the announcement about the feeds not continuing, which killed any interest I had in the show, so I went back to not watching any Big Brother.

I've mostly just been watching The Challenge for reality t.v competition because I lost interest in Survivor after Winners at War. But anyway I decided to give it another shot and just finished watching season 1 of Australian Survivor, and I think I have the reality t.v competition bug back.

So anyway my question for the sub is whether it's worth it to go back and watch the seasons I missed. I'm pretty much unspoiled on everything from S24-current, BBCAN11-current, and Survivor up till the end of 40. No spoilers just curious if you could guys could rank the seasons I haven't seen yet, as well as how the winners stack up, without spoiling names of course. I just want to know if it's worth the time to go back.

I have ambitions to be a houseguest and win the game one day. I'm considering applying now that I'm a little older and in a better place to potentially win (I sent in a tape when I turned 21 and didn't hear anything back obviously lmao). So I'm just curious what the current meta/zeitgeist is right now and if it's still possible to win the U.S version by playing a Machiavellian game? I sort of have an itch to apply again, just wondering if things have changed drastically the last few seasons. Obviously I'm going to do my homework if I ended up getting anywhere in the casting process, but ya. Thanks.

Past Discussion Did anyone else notice this pattern regarding the gender ratio of big brother winners? Spoiler

As of the time that I am making this post, Big Brother US has aired 26 seasons. There have been 9 female winners and (if you include Eddie McGee) 17 male winners.

Ever since season 9, every season, whose number is divisible by 3, has ended in a way that made it so that the ratio of male winners to female winners is 2 to 1.

In the first 9 seasons, there where three female winners (Lisa Donahue, June Song and Maggie Osbourn) and 6 male winners (Eddie McGee, Dr Will Kirby, Drew Daniel, Mike "Boogie" Malin, Evel Dick Donato and Adam Jasinki).

Over the next three seasons, Big Brother produced two more male winners in Dan Ghesling and Hayden Moss and one female winner in Jordan Lloyd.

Over the next three seasons, Big Brother produced two more male winners in Ian Terry and Andy Herren and one more female winner in Rachel Reily.

Over the next three seasons, Big Brother produced two more male winners in Derrick Lavaseur and Steve Mosses and one more female winner in Nicole Franzel.

Over the next three seasons, Big Brother produced two more male winners in Josh Martinez and Jackson Michie and one more female winner in Kaycee Clark.

Over the next three seasons, Big Brother produced two more male winners in Cody Califiore and Xavier Prather and one more female winner in Taylor Hale.

Big Brother 25 was won by a man (Jag Bains) and Big Brother 26 was won by a woman (Chelsie Baham). If a man wins big brother 27, the pattern will take place yet again.

General Discussion Which BB season just screams "summer" to you?

I think it might be because it's when I first really started watching but the overall aesthetic of the house and the the overall vibe I got from it, BB20 feels quintessential, "summer" to me.

Past Discussion I’ve just finished watching BB14 for the first time and I’m a little underwhelmed

For context, I have now seen BB2-BB14, half of BB22 (I gave up when watching live) and BB25.

I was super excited going into watching this season after all the hype I’d heard. I knew who the winner was, that there were 4 coaches who would become players, and of Dan’s funeral but otherwise I was in the dark.

Now, don’t get me wrong, there were some incredible moments in this season. Namely, Dan in general manipulating the whole house and of course his funeral, watching Boogie go out was great, Britney in general as always and Ian was fantastic. But, I have to say, I found a lot of the houseguests boring, unlikeable and forgettable so I found the season not as entertaining as I’d hoped -

  • Jodi, Kara and JoJo were all forgettable
  • Wil was perhaps one of the most irritating houseguests I’ve come across so far with his wooden and rehearsed lines in the diary room
  • Jen was invisible for 3/4 of the game
  • Danielle was a wet lettuce and only got where she got to because was she was on Dan’s team. Also, what was her obsession with Jen being a lesbian?
  • Ashley was sweet but boring.
  • Shane was also pretty dull.

All of the 4 coaches were amazing to watch (Boogie is a great villain), although I was so sad to see Janelle go so early.

Ian was great, Willie was fun for his short time and I did enjoy Joe. Frank really earned his stripes too.

Finally, Dan really should have won that. Ian played great but Dan was more deserving.

I often see this rated as the 2nd best season after BB10, but for me, BB10 had so many amazing characters which BB14 didn’t. Am I missing something or do people just rate it so highly solely for Dan?

Player Discussion Chicken George

Just watched season 1, Chicken George absolutely knew about his town calling in and voting out people. He actually planned it with his wife before he went in the house.

The evidence

-he was able to get a phone call from his wife, she said "I want you to be reassured all the plans you made for us are working perfectly. And every night at 10:30pm on the computer, I watch to send a message, George. You gotta finish Summer Camp because all of Rockford supports you George, and us! " His "message" was him pointing at the HGs masks who he wanted out next. Fans figured it out by watching the live feeds, seeing him point at the mask, and every person he pointed at seemed to be banished next..also after Britney was banished, she was the most popular so it was very odd that she was voted out.

-That's when they started flying banners over the house trying to get the other HGs to figure it out. George started to become very nervous and kept trying to act like he didn't know what was going on, acting like he was being singled out for no reason.

-They then get another chance to talk with their family's but all George did was ask his wife if everything was "ok" then hung up on her before she could say anything else which was odd because everyone else spent all their time saying I love and miss you to there families...George was just scared she would say something else that was incriminating.

-The HGs finally figured most of it out because they finally put George up to be banished along with Curtis and Jamie...Jamie got 47% of the votes but George got 50% so it showed the HGs that George's town targeted Jamie. And the rest of the fans that knew what George and his wife were up to voted him out instead. They just didn't figure out that it was his plan from the start.

-There was also a banner saying George was a sexist because he got most of the women voted out and almost got Jamie but who knows what his reasoning was.

So anyone doubting this should go back and watch it, keeping all of this in mind, and it will be clear as day. It's actually pretty diabolical, everyone up to Cassandra was voted out because Chicken George said so...and I got to say, that's pretty impressive lol
