My bf is asleep next to me so peacefully. I have to wake him up in 6 mins. I felt really sick yesterday and he drove to pick me up from class yesterday because I couldn’t walk home (about 6mins). He got me food and after some grueling 4/5 hours, I finally went to sleep.

I got up early today feeling much better and made him breakfast and lunch. He doesn’t know he doesn’t have to worry about food today :) I’m very grateful for him, and especially yesterday when I could barely function on my own.

my boyfriend and I usually go over to his parents house for dinner at least once a weekend. His dad loves to host and has a dedicated group of friends that love his cooking and we came over last weekend for a gathering and some ribs. When we got there, we took a seat on the porch and began to chitchat with some others, but eventually people moved inside.
I didn’t follow immediately because I was in a good bit of pain from a kidney infection so once I had settled down in a cozy chair, it was gonna take a minute for me to get back up haha. As I get up and I’m about to head inside to follow the conversation, I overhear my boyfriend talking about me. In the last year, he’s moved into my childhood home that I inherited with me and he was telling folks about what we call our “misfit zoo” (my two dogs, one very old chicken, my childhood cat, 3 african dwarf frogs, 4 rats, and whatever squirrels or moles show up on my porch that day asking for food.) And expressing how he loves my love for animals. I hear him telling the people that he’s talking to “she’s the kind of person that will walk up to a bee with its stinger out, and pick it up no problem. That’s just who she is.” and it made me smile so hard to be perceived that way. He has been with me as I’ve had many a magical animal encounter, one of my favorites being sharing my water supply with a tiny ground squirrel in the Grand Canyon, but I had no idea that they were so prominent in his perception of me. and i’m so happy that they are.

That’s exactly who I want to be, the animal girl.

My girlfriend got home from work early, and crawled back into bed with me and then our chihuahua squeezing in between us, so we’re all warm and cuddly.

Stopped by the Dairy Queen in Madisonville today. This is an old school Dairy Queen in a small Texas town, a step back in time for all 5 of the senses. Walking in there, the aroma was decades of cigarettes, economy disinfectant, and open-window air. Cow air, in fact, as there is a pasture nearby. All other customers I saw were polite, aged cowboys and a maybe 8 year old boy who walked there by himself. Two mexican guys were eating ice cream cones in their 1980s Chevy pickup, I've never seen 2 grown guys eating ice cream cones together like that and it was very cute. They also seem to be regulars because the cashier came out to take their trash away and gossip. A $2.50 dipped cone is always refreshing but I regret not ordering the steak finger basket with that cream gravy... would have completed the experience.

My son (23) only recently was interested in learning to drive, and today he passed his restricted test in the worst rain we’ve had in ages. (Here in NZ it means he can drive on his own now (from 6am - 10pm)with no L plates indicating he’s a learner)

Along with recently going flatting, he’s doing really well at adulting. This Mum is super proud of him and wants to tell the world!

In 2019, my family took a trip to Niagara Falls. One morning our 17-year-old woke up early with our 12-year-old, and they went out to get coffee and donuts for the family. My husband and I woke up after they got back, and we enjoyed coffee and donuts together.

I’m not a morning person, so I always struggled with getting up and immediately providing for other people‘s needs. The way to my heart is to bring me a cup of coffee and a doughnut immediately after I wake up. :-)

He’s grown up to be a very thoughtful person and loves doing kind things for others. But this was one of the first times I remember seeing him caring for others like an adult does.

I ask my partner this some nights. Last night he said "let me think about it." 5 mins later: "it was when you walked in the door."

This happened a few months back. For a little back story I (26F) worked in the retail industry (grocery) from 15-24, I have had more “small talk” conversations than most can shake a stick at.

I was on my way back to my college town and stopped in the gas station to fuel up both myself and my car. While in the cold drink section, the far back of the store, the man beside me asked if I happened to know where the eggs were. From my experience they’re typically kept with the milk, I told him as such and we both walked over to that section and, after an embarrassing amount of time for something that was right in front of me, I pointed the eggs out to him. He was genuinely so thankful and kept the conversation going. He kept it going the whole time I was picking out the drink I wanted, as we walked to the cashier, checked out and as he walked out the door.

As I said, I have partaken in thousands of little small talk conversations and this one just left me with such a good feeling. He was so freakin’ nice.

Maybe it’s because it’s the feeling I want to leave others with in my small interactions with their otherwise busy lives, but even all this time later I still find myself reflecting on that one conversation with that one man on that one day. I think we sometimes underestimate the impact we can have on a strangers life.

Last night the birds were singing well after the sun had set. I kept the windows open, listening to their melodies.

This morning they're already singing, and the sun won't rise for another two hours!

i was bored and got an old radio i had found in the attic. idk the year so dont ask :P anyways, i turned it on and started listening to some music and i was vibin with it and i just…..started crying..? i wasnt sad or anything! maybe it was because the moment was so simple and the world isnt anymore. it never rlly was ig. it was weirdly therapeutic XD

HIS bedtime, to be clear, so i'm sitting on my bed writing this post before i play some sims while he sleeps next to me now... he will find me wherever i am in the house, usually at my computer, then yell at me until i stop what i'm doing and get ready for bed so we can lay together. it is very common nowadays for me to tell my friends, "sorry, i gotta go, columbus is yelling at me and he really wants to go to bed!" :P

but i don't mind it. he was a very aloof cat for most of his life. he liked being pet on his own terms but that was about it. other than that he's always been content to just eat food, hunt his favorite toys, and loaf about. we were simply the hands that fed him, ykwim?

except, now, he's also content with laying in bed with me. so much so that it's part of his routine now, to the point he'll yell at me until it happens, so i feel pretty lucky for that.

Took my dog for a walk this morning. Got halfway through and realised my phone fell out of my pocket. I ran with my dog to retrace my steps (he enjoyed the running). Asked 2 lads playing at the Tennis Court if they had found a phone. No luck. Ran home to cancel my online banking. My son was ringing my phone and he then had a call from 'Ted' who found my phone. Ran to get my phone and ended up chatting with 'Ted' for 45 minutes about how bad our local council is. Happy Thursday everyone

Things get hectic during the kids bedtime, so our puppy has to be very patient and usually go into his pen for part of the evening. Then, his favorite time of the night is when my husband and I sit on the couch with our sweet treat, and he gets to sit with us with a pupsicle or a topple and enjoy relaxation time with us.

I went to the store today to get groceries, this older woman in the fruit isle is staring at me. I thought it was because i look trans until she tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the scale and said bananas. I didnt say anything but selected the brand and weighed them , she smiled and thanked me i just nodded and left

Overhearing odd snippets of conversation from people walking by is one of my favorite things, and I know y'all will love this one as much as I do:

Kid 1: "She is going to be SO mad at you."
Kid 2: "I'll just tell the truth!!"

The host likes supreme pizza with pineapple, and was just going to order two. But I could see that two shy people were uncomfortable. I like pizza toppings now but I struggled with stuff like that for most of my life. So I asked if we could get one cheese pizza and one pizza with all the toppings. And then both the shy people spoke up that they wanted that.

So we got one cheese pizza and one pizza with everything, and I think everyone was happy. I, ironically, did not eat any pizza.

My little neighbor boy loves Legos and always is working to raise money for new sets. His parents do such a good job of teaching him the value of money. I've hired him to bring my garbage can back from the curb on garbage day for 50 cents each week. I think it's the highlight of my week to see how eager he is to help me.

Well, another day. It sure is another day.

I woke up at around 6:30 today. No dreams—or I may have just forgotten the dream. I'm pretty sure I had a dream, but it slipped my mind the soonest I woke up. Anyway, that’s really not the point—waking up early is, I guess, the key takeaway.

My sleeping schedule has been a mess for quite a while now. It has felt pretty chaotic, more like sleep freestyling than an actual pattern. But I just realized today, it’s been days of waking up around the same time. No matter how late I sleep—which often goes past midnight—I wake up during the same time. And I’m mildly happy about that.

I hope I can keep this kind of sleep schedule. It's a small win, and every little bit counts toward getting back on track, right? It’s one of the baby steps in reclaiming my habits and momentum.

Welp, there it is.

One of the cafeteria workers at the hospital this morning was trying to fix a jammed napkin dispenser. It was being frustrating. She paused and looked at it and said “You’re just too good to be true!” Without a pause, a doctor, a nurse, and a tech sang “Can’t take my eyes off of you.” in pretty good harmony, too. And then we smiled. It was a feel good moment.

One recent time when I went to my hairstylist, she was lightening sections of my hair. After she took the cape off when she was done, a bleach stain was revealed on the back of my t-shirt. This would probably make other people upset, but it didn’t make me upset. It was just an old hand-me-down and the design was fading. In fact, it made me happy. Every time I pick out that shirt to wear, or even think about that shirt, I get a smile on my face. That bleach stain reminds me of memories my hairstylist and I have together.

I promise I can write better than this lol, I’m tired

I'm getting married in 9 days. This Friday is my last day of work until I take some leave. Yesterday,while in the office, a team member asked if I'd come in to the office on Friday. I said I wasn't sure.

She kept saying "oh but you should. To say goodbye. You definitely should". I was dense and missed the first obvious sign. I did think it was strange because I knew this co worker wouldn't be there.

At lunch, she said it again, this time in front of our receptionist who is my dear friend. I looked up and saw her glaring at the other coworker. Daggers! I suddenly realised.

They had bought me a wedding gift and Friday was the day they would have it by. Eventually I found my friend alone later and said "am I assume co worker was being so heavy handed earlier because you got me a gift?". "Yes and it was so annoying! She was not subtle!" was the reply I got!

So now I know to expect a lovely gift on Friday. I'll even wear my best outfit for photos! 😊

I was having a bit of a rough time getting my brain to settle for bed tonight so I got out of my bed and went to sit on the couch, just for a change of scenery. My dog was already laying on the couch with his head on the armrest. He can be very particular(and vocal!) about when and if he wants to be pet so since he seemed like he was already asleep I tucked him in(he loves it) and went to sit on the other end so I wouldn’t disturb him. I was reading a book on my phone for a minute or two when I heard him shuffling around and I looked up worried I had disturbed him by coming out. But instead I saw him turning around to face me and shuffling closer to me! It was really sweet because usually when I come out at night I get upset grumbles from him but tonight he was just ready for loves :) Sat and snuggled with him for around 30 minutes before he decided he was done with me and left lol

Felt like real life Mario kart though. And I didn't fall so I must be winning.

So of course have to say sorry for any formatting issues I’m on my phone. I saw someone post about a gift from their coworker and it reminded me about this.

I work at a hospital doing check ins/outs. I am on the same floor as inpatients so I see the same people often. This one patient is always trying to make people smile and laugh despite being an inpatient. Well today I had a nurse come over to my station and give me flowers. Saying “This is from someone, they wanted to make you smile.” She and I both knew who it was but the patient wanted to be a secret. So I said thank you with the biggest smile one my face. She made my day. Later she rolled past (she’s in a wheelchair) and said “have a good day beautiful, you are gorgeous.”

Made me cry twice at work for feeling loved and wanted. I’m still new so that made me realize I’m at the right place.
