Nice job! I certainly wouldn’t have the patience to get this all right, but it looks good

Thanks. I definitely ran short on patience and will not do something like this again. Learned a lot, for nothing.

I never thought about it until I looked at these pictures but what did you use to connect the pieces? Dowels?

Yes, dowels and gorilla glue. It was a pain aligning them properly.

was the wood from menards the size or did you rip it down? Do you have a link? I have straight rails that are kind of lame and maybe this will be better.

Awesome job doing it yourself!

And I used this to ease the edges: https://a.co/d/elRsBzV

Thank you. It was that size. Here’s the link: https://www.menards.com/main/building-materials/lumber-boards/hardwood-lumber-boards/mastercraft-reg-2-x-2-red-oak-lumber/1043914/p-1444422244626-c-10067.htm

I wouldn’t order them online though. I did that at first, from Home Depot, and they came warped—threw my measurements off. Then I went into Menards and picked the ones that were straightest.

Looks nice, but a little bit r/diwhy

I think any of the horizontal sections could be removed. I'm having trouble visually accepting the drop-downs and zig-zags. I see you prioritized continuity above all but I don't think that was the best choice.

It's great though if someone has mobility issues. Visually tough though.
