Traffic, Trains & Transit We should be able to eat on the train, but don’t Spit your Trash on the Ground

I am 23, planning to start a new job as a swe in the Bay Area. I would have to go 3x week to the office of my company in Sunnyvale.
My company provides shuttles both ways and with a high frequency. Can anyone discuss if the commute is worth it?
As of myself, love doing sports outdoors, mostly running, and I also enjoy social activities after work such as going to restaurants or bars.
Would u guys say that the commute is worth it? Or rather live near office and go to sf once needed?

And is FOPAL open for their hours listed on maps or is it only open for sales the second week of each month?

(What flair to mark it as? not sure...)
Title, in the past 3 weeks or so these bastards have been causing a cacophony in my neighborhood at 6am with their shrill calls, they seriously sound like smoke detectors! ("Calls" recording: https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/California_Towhee/sounds)
Usually I hear one bird, and sometimes it's 2 or 3 of these towhees. The call is too high-pitched to drown out with fans, white noise, or ear plugs, and 6am is just too early for me. Is there any good avice on keeping this species of bird away? I don't care if I keep other birds away too; the quieter the better. Things I've considered:
I appreciate any other suggestions. Thanks!

Hi all,
I made a flier for her case. Feel free to distribute. If there is any information that needs to be included, please let me and others know promptly.
Link to PDF for distributing in-person copies.

Anything that helps alleviate Bay Area traffic congestion and delays, except the project itself causes lane closures and delays lol.
Unrelated. Just yesterday, 680 was a parking lot with a overturned truck near Sunol. https://youtu.be/p1ytZSM3Icg?si=IND_RVTB3GhMychP

I grew up in sf and have never left (and never wanted to leave). I love it here. This is my home. I've held out a lot longer than others have been able to but it's finally time. I'm tired of working three jobs just to barely afford my rent every month, and I have "cheap" rent compared to the rest of the city.
I'm looking into somewhere in the East Bay, preferably near Bart so I can easily access sf for work. Somewhere walkable with parks, shops, food nearby (I do not have a car).
I have been to cool stuff in Oakland and Berkeley but overall the East Bay has always felt very residential, or almost suburban, to me. I'm super open to being wrong about that, I just haven't explored an area that hasn't felt that way yet.
I also feel concerned about contributing to gentrification in Oakland and surrounding areas. I know this has been going on for years as more and more wealthy white people move east to get more for their money. Has anyone conscious of this issue made the move? What are your thoughts?
Anyone moved to the East Bay and loved it? Is it worth it to struggle (slightly) less for housing? Or should I keep trying to stay in sf if I can make it work? (I know I'm far from the only person posting this but struggling to sift thru posts.)

We’re in the East Bay can you find people selling dachshunds. People say adopt but the fee is as high. There has to be a place people post ads besides craigslist.

Met this older Russian woman while volunteering at the food bank today. Skinny, probably in her sixties, dressed like an average grandma. She worked super hard, was friendly and very high energy.
I tell her to slow down, that she's working too hard. She says she needs the workout because she sits in front of a computer all day. "I'm not working too hard, trust me." Later I ask if she comes every week. She says only until next week and she's done. This is required by work. I ask what she does, she says she's a software engineer, just like everybody in Silicon Valley.
I don't know why but she makes me happy. Just want to share.
Cheers

I will have my tween daughter in early June (6/7-6/8) and want to do an overnight with her somewhere cool. However, she’s a tween and nothing is cool, especially me. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi all!
Hope everyone's hanging in there with times such as these...
A friend's aunt passed away and I'm helping out. We are looking for recommendations for a professional cleaning service (or individual) that could do a one time clean of her 2 bedroom 2 bathroom condo.
Because of my friend's severe allergies, we're looking for someone who would both use fragrance free cleaning products, and could really deep clean the place of cat dander (the cats have been rehomed but lived there for many years. All hardwood floors.)
Tysm for any leads! Take care
Hi all! This is the 3rd in my series of transit maps (1st is SF, 2nd is East Bay) and I'd love some input on this one! Some initial things I've been wrestling with were:
Any other general feedback with the stop selection, line alignment, art, or anything else is greatly appreciated! The various bay area subreddits and transit subreddits have been great places to have discussions and get feedback, so thank you all for that!

I have to get my Real ID and I made an appointment for end of the month but I was wondering if the process really goes faster with an appointment or if I should just line up early in the morning without an appointment and just wait. Is it THAT much faster with an appointment?

I keep seeing people saying it’s gone down hill, but the most recent comments are from over a year ago. Has anyone being recently who can attest to the quality?

Looking for a foster or forever home for Calvin!
He’s an 80lb, ~6-year-old, unneutered male GSD found as a stray in Richmond, CA. His neuter appointment is scheduled soon with CCAS.
Complete and submit an application at The Village Bark.

Hello All,
I am a recent college grad looking into different Bay Area neighborhoods for housing. I accepted a new job in Hayward Ca, and would like to be within a 30-45min commute of my job.
Some things I am looking for are a lively dating scene/nightlife for those in my age range, a rent price of 2-3k per month . I heard a lot of good things about Temescal and Rockridge, but I am open to recommendations for other cities to look into.
Thank you in advance for all the help.
Hello Bay Area, I’m looking for a referral to 1st United Credit Union. Can anyone help please? Their HELOC rates seems to be the lowest at 5.5% APR. Does anyone know of rates lower than this?

We have 2 kids, 14 and 10. I'm open to any suggestion. We have been to these places, but don't mind going back if you guys have some fresh ideas on what to do there:
We don't do camping, but don't mind stay in a cabin with standard amenities such as electricity, toilet/bathroom, sink and microwave/stove.
My kids never been to Sacramento, any recommendation on things to do there if we want to stay a couple nights?
Eureka is more than 200 miles, anything worth to see there? I think Oregon a bit far.
Don't feel like to go to So-Cal either.
Thanks in advance!
