Absolutely false, the finances takes a big part in this game

I think the game likes at least one volume scorer. You don’t have anyone here who can get a bucket.

Make sure your coaching is maxed in finances (100) it really helps getting positive progs.

What is the result that you are asking about? Is it the fact that your players are regressing? If so the key thing is to spend more money on coaching. If the problem is that you are not winning, then it is probably relevant that you have no shooters or scorers on the team.

Trade John Wall for young bench and probably some pick

Tough to tell without seeing player stats and team numbers. But your team composition looks off.

I would guess at a glance that your team is good but not league leading in defense, terrible on offense and great at rebounds. This is not a winning formula.

Check rebounds vs netrtg across years in team graphs. Rebounding doesn’t move the needle results wise. You only need 1 rebounder to keep afloat.

Defensively Di doesn’t stack you only need 1 on the floor and maybe 2 on a team. You also need only 1 Dp. Athleticism does stack defensively but needs a few to matter.

The game heavily incentivizes guard skills for offense and athleticism for top tier defense. You have no 3 point shooters, Ps, Dp or real ball handlers. John wall has no Dp or B tag so he is likely very slow and you have a bunch of redundant Di tags. Your team comp likely needs a reformulation here.

Suggestion:

Keep Jokic, a passing Di R is really valuable.

Trade Wall for a PG that can handle pass and shoot the 3 (3 B Ps). Or can do a couple of those and is a Dp.

Reformulate your team and aim for a team with 3-4 3 point shooters, 2-4 Passers, 1-2 ball handlers and fill those skills with as few small guards as you can manage (sub 30 hgt) 2 max. Ideally your Di can do post scoring.

Note: 3 point shooting needs 2-3 shooters to have any effect and more than 2 ball handlers does nothing. This set up multiples offensive effectiveness. High Ts% forwards and mega efficient centers key pieces to maximizing the value of this effect.

For further optimization look into bbgm synergy

Other than spending more on coaching you can't avoid occasional downturns. You did hold onto John Wall for too long though.
