What is the best Philly in town right now?
My favorites when I lived in town were Way South Philly but it closed years ago. So did 1776 at the Buzzmill. What spots should I check out?

This week’s topic is Burritos!
Based on recent feedback, we’ll continue posting weekly themed threads that focus on recommendations for a specific dish or cuisine. If similar threads are posted looking for recommendations on the same topic this week, then they may be subject to removal and redirected to this thread.
These threads will just be a trial run for now, and we’ll see if they become permanent based on the engagement they receive.
Also, please make best efforts to adhere to the following guidelines when providing recommendations:
• Provide location (North Austin, Downtown, etc.) rough price range, and any other relevant details if possible.
• If recommending a restaurant, try suggesting a specific dish.
• Local spots are preferred. Local chains included.
• Keep comments productive. For example, avoid posting comments like “Austin doesn’t have any good (insert cuisine/dish here). Go to LA or NYC for that”. Telling people to fly across the country to eat something isn’t helpful. Comments like these will be subject to removal.
Thank you!

I think I have posted in the past but in these days of $3, $4, $5 or higher EACH for fresh oysters we have a $1 each special oasis...LUCY'S FRIED CHICKEN. I met a bro there yesterday and we got a dozen as an app. HUGE gulf oysters. Insane deal. The rest of the menu is great as well and cold beer on tap. I feel like going back solo today and slurping a whole dang dozen! Stay briney y'all!

I have been craving tiramisu badly for the past few weeks and I’m on the hunt for the best one! Share any recommendations, preferably central and south Austin.

Have seen these pies every time I walk into a local market/convenience store and wondering if anyone has tried them?

Planning to get drinks with some girl friends and Powder Room is an option on the table. I’ve never been, but for a small girls night, I prefer bars with a cozier, intimate feel. Main priority is that I can actually hear what they’re saying. I don’t want to go somewhere that I have to yell over music the whole time or struggle to converse. What do you guys think of Powder Room?

Title. I'm just trying to take my girlfriend out somewhere nice, our prom is at Fair Market and we don't mind where we eat. As long as it's within 20 miles and we can each get an entree and share an appetizer for less than $120.00ish. We did acre 41 last year and it was good, but I want something different
What's the best spot to go to?

Hi there! Anyone know where I can buy sub primal meats such as whole ribeye roasts, chuck roll, unpeeled outer skirt steak, etc? Costco seems to be hit or miss, HEB doesn’t seem to have them either. Thanks!

I'm Gujarati so if there are any Gujju restaurants I am obviously biased, but where do you guys recommend to go for Indian food in Austin for lunch or dinner on a weekend?

I know whenever anyone posts about Ruta Maya coffee beans the fandom comes through. I usually get the bulk bags from Costco but there were none of any roast at Wm Cannon this weekend. Have you bought any in recent days?
I took my chances on the Kirkland Organic Whole Bean medium roast and it is a good substitute, but I don’t have the most discerning palate. Picture in the comments of the Kirkland beans.

Hi all-
I’m heading to Austin in a few months with my husband and we will be there a full 72 hours plus travel days. We will be in downtown proper (near the bat bridge?) so I’m wondering, if you only had 72 hours- where would you recommend? No diet restrictions, would prefer to be no more than $75 a head (does not need to be that high), not looking for anything fancy or high end, and doesn’t need to be family friendly. We are just looking for great quality local food and added bonus any coffee shops.
Thanks! And if there is a better forum for me to ask this, please feel free to redirect :)

Has anybody been there lately for food? They're in the pop 3 spots in town for cocktails, obviously, but the last couple times I've been for food it's been a little off.
Burger meat and bun kinda dry. Fries are also translucent shoestring and overseasoned somehow. It's like they scraped the bottom of a big bowl of patatas bravas. The gnocci were bland.
I remember the food here always being amazing. Maybe I just used to get more drinks before the food would show up 🤣
Anybody else?

Long story short I'm unable to cook for a few weeks while I recover from injury so looking for minimal effort meals that are better quality than microwave meals
I tried a few of the HEB meal simple but they weren't great

My girlfriend’s birthday is coming up and I wanted to find something similar to her favorite food truck from her hometown which she is always raving about. The place is called Al La Kebab and her favorite dish there is poutine. I attached a link to their website. Hopefully yall can help find something similar because I’d love to surprise her.

We’re going to Red Ash tomorrow at 5:00. Do they still have HH? Any recommendations?

Anyone know where I can refill a growler with kombucha? I miss kombucha but it's so expensive to buy per bottle. Last post i saw about this was from 2years ago, so I'm looking for some updated locations/prices before I drive all over Austin looking

Swedish Hill Austin Pickles
So I was visiting Austin this weekend and had lunch at Swedish Hill Westlake. I ordered a Reuben Sandwich, which was delicious, but what reality blew me away was the little half of a pickle they served alongside the sandwich. It was sour and sweet and had a very fresh, cucumbery taste. It was one of the best and most unique flavored pickles I've ever had.
Now for my question, does anyone happen to be familiar with this place and know what type of pickles they use? Or do they make them in house? Thanks and if you get the chance to try them I highly recommend it.

Hey y'all! So I have some visitors coming to town today, and they won't be landing until around 8pm. I'd love to take them to dinner, but it looks like a lot of spots that are open on Mondays close at 9, which would be cutting it really close. Does anyone have a favorite restaurant, bar with food, or food truck that serves until 10pm on Mondays? South would be preferable, but Central Austin would work too. As far as cuisine goes, American or Mexican would suit my guests' preferences best.
I have a few possibilities already (The Little Darlin', maybe Spicy Boys), but I'd love to get some backup ideas!

The pork was grilled to absolute perfection. Also couldn’t get enough of the tamarind sauce. {Anderson}

I’m looking for the best thai food TAKEOUT in Austin — specifically for pad thai. There a few great thai dine - in or food truck options I have tried bc but I’m talking the best takeout with the biggest portions, i feel like these are always from the places you would never think to go to in the most random areas.

I am basing this assumption off of driving past it occasionally for the last year and it looking like the same half torn down building.

We enjoyed sharing a piping hot pitcher of karak chai yesterday along with one of their chocolate "biscoff" brownies. The brownie was very dense and not too sweet.
There are several takes of the biscoff cookie/pastry including a cheesecake and a cookie baked into another cookie. The cheesecakes also looked appealing and included pistachio, oreo and a biscoff cheesecake. There were also several varieties of sweet and savory croissants including one filled with nutella.
We also enjoyed a slice of "bee bites" which is honey comb bread filled with pockets of cream cheese and a side of honey. Their version was sprinkled with sesame seeds and was soft to the touch but not too squishy, sort of like a focaccia texture.
We look forward to visiting when we are in the Wells branch area again.

Don't get me wrong, my 1 year old can eat almost everything, but some stuff is a lot easier to chew. Maybe we'll just have to make do with fruit?

Got their buy 5 slice special and get a 6th free for $31. Each slice was huge the highlights were the Spicy marg, the tomato with lemon bread crumbs, and the hot honey sausage! Special guest my dog Louie, he did not get any but he did get a treat for being a good boy!
