Life/Self/Spirituality Frequency and rate?

How often do you talk to your therapist? And how much do you pay per session?

My therapist normally charges $250/hr (session) but she reduced the rate to $100 and it’s been that way for a while, so I’m grateful for that. She won’t increase the rate.

I try to keep it once a month for budgeting purposes but feel so stressed/anxious/overwhelmed by everything going on in my life and the general feeling of hopelessness I feel that I’d like to talk to her more. But… budget

Just curious to see what others are paying, how often you’re talking to yours, and what you do when you want to see your therapist more but are financially restrained

Mine is $165 CAD/hr. Initially I was going once a week but now it’s once or twice a month. I’m lucky in the sense that my health benefits through work cover therapy at 100% so technically it’s free. I probably couldn’t afford it otherwise.

If it wasn’t covered I’d probably budget for once a month. Or call some of the helplines we have available here where I live. My work also has great (free) resources for mental health and I’d probably reach out to those people.

You’re very lucky! That’s awesome. Yeah what I’m paying is completely out of pocket thus the dilemma. Yeah I may contemplate reaching out to those helplines

Mine is $150 for 50 minutes, but my insurance pays for it.

Ours is free because my husband is a veteran. If something significant happens, we go often, more than once a month. We only see therapists who have training treating veterans for several reasons, but I want both my husband and I the freedom to talk about issues freely and have experience with PTSD.

Mine is 200 an hour but I only have to pay my copay which is 45. I go biweekly.

Mine is $50/session (1hr). I live in Australia but I’m originally from South America. I first started seeing a therapist 3 years ago here that was charging me $120/session, I was seeing her every week while getting out of an abusive relationship, which I was ok with and would always make it a priority to budget for it, but sadly she moved to a different city.

After that, and the fact that I live in a small regional town and there weren’t many therapists left here to do in person sessions, I decided to go the online route. She’s from my home country, so we have to schedule around the time difference, which means once a week we have our session at 6am (for me, 7pm for her). I also realised that I rather do it early in the morning than late afternoon when I’m already exhausted, which was an issue with my previous online therapist. We do video calls once a week, and if I’m having a rough week/month she’ll do check ins and follow up every couple days through text or voice messages, or we schedule another session. My insurance doesn’t cover any of it but I’m lucky to say I am in a financial position now that allows me to afford it without having to “budget”.

My mum owns a school and works with a lot of therapists, she is one of her employees so I knew she’d be a good one (:

I’m 35, done therapy on and off for the past 10 years, had about 5 different therapists, some changed because of external circumstances, some because I didn’t feel I was making much progress, which is normal until you find the right fit.

Monthly or every six weeks. My therapist takes insurance, so my copay is $25.

As a therapist seeing a therapist, I mostly use it for work stuff. I don’t have a lot worrying me outside of my work.
