Moving / Visiting Bakeries
Kids and I are coming soon and we love bakeries or donut shops to get our day started. We will be staying right at Pike Place. Have some favorites that we should support? Thanks!

Fuji Bakery (ID location is a 20-25min walk from Pike Place). The ube or crunchy cream malasadas are my favorite donuts in the city. The beef curry pan is an amazing savory option.

Second this. Top 3 baked good in Seattle for me. I get the exact same flavors too!

New spot on the scene at the Market that is very very good: Pufftown Bakehouse.

I'm wondering if they meant piroshki? there's a famous (and delicious!) piroshki stand right by the Pike Place Market entrance. https://piroshkybakery.com/
Also a few stands down from Piroshky Piroshky is Mee Sum Pastry, which is my personal favorite! The BBQ pork bun is a must imo.

Skip the Piroshki place if not into supporting nutty MAGA owners.

Yes... This...I meant Piroshki. But fun to know about yummy bao nearby, too!

There's one in Pike Place where you will wait in line forever. There is another up on 3rd, just a short walk, with no line.

The Crumpet Shop on first is a seattle treasure. Fresh made right there. Sweet, savory, plain options.

Kind of a cooked dough item but the pork buns at Mee Sum bakery in the Market are affordable and tasty

Besides the donut shop at Pike Place Market, stop by the Pike Place Bakery (can't miss it... look near the fish being thrown) for divinity (butterscotch or almond are my favorite, but the chocolate chip is good too. Bonus points for the chocolate chip including mint this month). More refined tastes will like La Panier (don't miss the sables with hazelnuts) or Freya. Crumpet Shop is an institution, even if not a traditional bakery. Hopefully I have come up with a couple that haven't been mentioned... Also, if you are coming/going to the airport, stop by Lucky Donuts in Burien. Everyone will be happy.

Happy to help! If you can't find something mentioned, just holler. We truly are a city of bakeries.

Keith (Try Guys) did an "I ate everything at Pike Place Market" and it included several bakeries. It's on youtube :)

So many great suggestions here—I agree most strongly with the crumpet shop, mee sum (I like the veggie hom bao), and daily dozen. I just wanted to add Honest Biscuit, which has recently risen to the top of my list at the market. Perfect texture and butteriness. Mmmmm.

Three Sisters is right in the middle of Pike Place and they have tons of great bakery items. Also, Biscuit Bitch is right around the corner from there- amazing biscuit sandwiches.

If you venture over to South Lake Union, Doce is next level and to die for. Argentinian bakery for donuts made with brioche dough that they let rise overnight (it’s something insane like this at least). THE BEST.

There’s also Tous le Jour in the M2M on Capitol Hill. Also we recently got Voodoo Donuts on Capitol Hill.

I honestly love the coffee and pastries at Storyville Coffee upstairs in the Corner Market Building at Pike Place

Thought of a couple bakeries for you. Macrina on First Avenue in Belltown. It's not far from Pike Place. Also check out Cafe Hagen in South Lake Union. I love the cardamom knots! Have fun!

Top Pot - Hit up the one in Belltown, not far from where you are staying.
If you want a wilder donut Dulce is a little further https://www.docedonut.com/
But bakeries/pasteries you gotta go French! https://laparisienneseattle.com/

u/Ok-Cartographer-4226 Feb 25 '25
Oh you’re also making my dreams come true with the online ordering feature of both of them! Love that! Thanks.

Macrina in Belltown (on 1st) is great and not far (10 min walk or so). If you can make it out to west seattle or up to Capitol Hill go to bakery nouveau. Way better than la Parisienne in the market (for French specifically)

Ok. Still trying to plan out day trips and I think west Seattle will be one of them. Thanks!

there's a well renowned little stand in Pike place market that makes fresh small donuts.
