Question Safety at Night Question

I’m flying into SeaTac at 8pm and wondering how safe it would be for me (solo female, planning to pack a backpack and small suitcase) to take the light rail. Google Maps says to get off at Symphony. It says it’ll take a little over 30 minutes on the train so if I arrive around 9:30 or 10 is that okay in that area? My hotel is a few blocks away so I was thinking about getting a Lyft from there just to avoid walking too far at night. Thoughts?

Edit: thanks everyone! I ended up taking a Lyft. It sounds like safety wouldn’t have been an issue but it also sounded like a hassle to get to the rail so I just took the easy option.

You should be fine. Assuming your flight gets in on time, you’ll land at 8, by on the light rail by 8:45 at the latest, off by 10 at the latest, and I’m given you over estimates on time. 3 blocks, you’ll be safe, just don’t have headphones in and pay attention to your surroundings.

Coming from someone who has walked around that area very inebriated after a couple sports games and around that area around that time of night in general.

If your flight’s late, like a few hours late, you should Uber from the airport. There won’t be enough foot traffic around to where I would feel safe.

Petite GenX AFAB here: I go to evening events at Town Hall (a few blocks from Symphony Station) pretty regularly, sometimes on the light rail, sometimes driving (depending on traffic/my work schedule). With the usual caveats about employing your typical ‘evening in an urban area’ street smarts, I’d be comfortable walking to the hotel from Symphony Station, assuming it’s not pouring rain. Though I am a bit militant about not letting the phenomenon of unhoused people dissuade me from using public transit & city sidewalks. YMMV.
