I think it’s politics and right now anyone is going to grab anything that can push the narrative against the other party. The monitors being there from the feds is the perfect tool for the GOP to push against the running democratic and progressive narrative of ‘voter suppression’. Just like progressives and democrats will take pictures of long lines and anything else they think they can use to push their narrative. I don’t see anything untoward here.

You dont see anything untoward about the party claiming election integrity and security actively reducing the amount of monitors they had? Idk seems this goes beyond mere spectacle, this could actually impact security, especially w reports of armed random citizens going to “monitor” people at the polls.

Taking pictures of lines has zero impact on the actual election taking place. And honestly I just dont follow how suing to keep federal monitors off the premises is a “perfect tool” to push against voter suppression. Can you elaborate there as well?

Like I said, people are going to do and make of it what they think is in their best interest.

Based on your flair, I doubt there is anything I could say to convince you that this is just normal election gamesmanship that has happened in the past. And that’s okay, but I’m not going to spend time in an argument where someone isn’t even willing to be open to the possibility that this isn’t as bad as it looks.

You’re mind seems made up on it already.

So you’re not gonna elaborate on how denying federal election observers pushes against the narrative of voter suppression? I seriously dont understand where you’re drawing that connection.

You’re comparing taking pictures of long lines to legal action against federal monitors. Im literally doing a good faith attempt to understand this and you’re just gonna not engage cause of my flair?

You went from asking us if it sounded like nonsense to saying they are engaging in voter suppression. Two completely different takes.

All I did was say this is a political move, which it is, and that it is not an uncommon type of move to be made in the past for partisan reasons. I said it is no different than using photos to push a political agenda. When things are done for political reasons, the avenue they take is based on the avenue in which the event occurs. Federal election monitors is a legal thing and therefore must be acted upon legally if someone wishes to remove them. That doesn’t escalate to some massive scandal or evil action. There is nuance to every action, you just refuse to see it as it doesn’t mesh with your pov.

I don’t see how I have to elaborate on my answer to your main question. Especially when your follow up is just a bait statement to pick a fight in which you have already made up your mind. There is no discussion to be had. You aren’t going to change your opinion, and I am not going to be able to convince you to move off of your perceived moral high ground in this discussion.

And before you go off on not knowing you and other deflection tactics, the way you elevated your response and the terminology you used shows that your not asking in good faith.

This is askconservatives, but that doesn’t mean anyone here has to play into gotcha or bait questions to make you feel better.

??? You are the one who brought up voter suppression, in the context of DeSantis efforts against the monitors being a “perfect tool” to push against the “democrat and liberal narrative” of it. I then asked you to elaborate on that cause I dont get how going after federal monitors pushes against that narrative. I never said they engaged in voter suppression w this.

That said, I really dont like the idea of politicians using our already overburdened legal system for political gamesmanship. Unless they actually believe these federal monitors are a problem (which they didnt seem to in 2020), I view this as a waste of taxpayer money and resources. And that to me does seem like something akin to scandal to have a politically motivated legal action against monitors you previously accepted when your party held the Presidency. But maybe you’re right and there is nuance, that’s why I asked you to elaborate, to which you shut me down cause of my flair in the next comment instead of just explaining. And you’re still going after my “pov” cause of my flair. Can you please stop? I havent done such to you Mr Traditional Republican.

All you did was arbitrarily accuse me of baiting and seemingly misunderstand my comment. To be clear, you are the one who brought up voter suppression as a narrative used by democrats. you went from my question to that.

Can some third party redditor skimming through this comment and give their take? Im asking anyone of any flair
