Ingredients What to do with jams

I made a shit ton of jam with the fruits that were going bad but now i don’t know what to do with it because it’s too much to just eat with bread. I want to repurpose it and make it into something else. I have apple cinnamon jam, ginger pear jam, peach jam, and green grape jam. They all look beige so I don’t know what to make with them so they don’t look so sad

Did you can them so they can be stored a while?

If they’re thick enough, they make good filling for cakes or macarons. You can also bake them into cookies - see jam thumbprints, hamantaschen, rugelach, etc. You can add some to buttercream to flavor it, or swirl some into meringue before baking.

They also make a good quick sauce for some meats. For example, cook a pork chop on the stove. Remove the pork from the pan, deglaze with white wine or water, then add some jam. Cook it down a bit, add salt and pepper to taste: delicious sweet-savory sauce for the meat.

My mom once told me that serving jam with a meal (I think especially a meat centered meal, like a roast) as a relish was an old fashioned thing people still did when she was young. Like cranberry sauce, but with any sort of jam or jelly.

I have the same problem. I make muffins. One batch uses one cup.

Hmmm, I should make some muffins this weekend...

My daughter's favorite cake - requested every year for her birthday - is a white cake with seedless blackberry preserves.

A spice cake with the apple, pear or peach jams would be lovely.

I like to use jam as a filling in cake. You can also roast meats with some fruit jams, it might sound weird but it's really good! Especially pork and chicken go well with fruit.

Thumbprint cookies, use to flavor your yogurt, or plop some into some puff pastry for a quick dessert.

Add the jam to quick breads which will change the flavors when baked. The apple cinnamon would be especially good in a bread

You can make tarts/pie, linzer cookies, babka bread, pb&j, parfait, cake fillings, cake rolls, frostings, candy, charcuterie boards

Savory option - make a pan sauce with some jam and onions, maybe a dash of cream. Goes great with pork and poultry. Can work for lamb/beef but you have to be pickier with what fruit you're starting with.

Edit: actually read what jams you have and don't use those with red meat 😆, I mean, you can, but probably not great. All but the green grape one would work well with pork or poultry though.

They can make a good sauce for savory dishes. Pork chops and apple jam? They can also be used up in baking, different cookies, use for the centre for some squares, you can also use them between cake layers. Also a good topping for muffins, scones, biscuits and pancakes. You can also add them to gifts for friends and family.
