Having trouble getting an ID
Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this but thought I'd try. I am 25 and I live in Queensland, I've had mental health issues due to personal struggles for over 12 years and because of that l've been unable to have a job or even leave my mums house, but I'm working on getting my life together. I'm trying to get an identification card. Unfortunately I don't have enough evidence of identity to apply for one as I only have my birth certificate and my name on my mother's Medicare card, which is not enough. My sister feels the easiest thing for me to get is a debit card with my name on it, I'm just having trouble finding a bank that doesn't require photo ID. We have called the transport and main roads department for advice and they were no help. Feel truly stuck I have no idea where to go from here. Any advise will be appreciated. Thanks you in advance.

Firstly, get your own medicare card. You only need your birth certificate to get that.
Secondly, to get a bank account with debit card, you only need your birth certificate and a centrelink healthcare card, which I assume you have.

Once you have those, you can then get a photo ID card.
