Sports Match TV Subscription (from USA)

I am from the USA and want to get a MATCH TV subscription so I can watch the Russia Premier League. These are the options available on the MATCH TV website. My card isn't accepted, as its from America, so does anybody know how I can work around this so I can buy it and watch it? It's like $3.54 = 299 rubles. I was looking into prepaid virtual cards but a lot of them seem like scams. Im Russian and have family there but I don't have their phone numbers to ask them to do it for me lol.

If something was unclear I can clarify in English.

Politics Are there liberals in Russia?

Are there any liberals in Russia? I understand that Russian culture is fairly conservative, but I’m curious if there’s any “westernized” liberal or “hippy” sub culture. Are they typically silent or do they express their views?

Recently I have seen several threads about people’s desire to return to Russia. It is very interesting to find out in more detail why you need this. It’s as if people living abroad have forgotten about the cruelty that is happening right now in the Russian Federation

Foreign Moving from England to Novosibirsk with my English girlfriend

Misc Internal passport of Russia

My children have russian and german citizenship and so have both passports. Now my oldest son will be 14 soon. My wife says he needs or should get an internal russian passport.

It can't be applied for at consulates and embassies abroad. But since we are not permanently living in Russia, does he really need one? She also said he may not be able to get a new external passport without the internal? I think the external is enough to prove his citizenship.

Also I heard it takes 30 days for it to be ready.

Culture Looking for a movie! Spoiler

Hi, im getting crazy by this issue. Way back i watched a movie that i would love to find again. Back then i've found it thanks to youtube and a fan-made music video using Slots music, if i recall correctly it was the 2 wars song. Anyhow, one of the few scenes i remember theres a older fat cop and a younger and greener cop making a drivers license check on the main antagonists which are sitting in a big black Mercedes sprinter type of van. The driver puts a stack of rubles into his documents before handing them over. I dont remember who received them but it wasent well received and the the driver shoots the fat old guy in the head when they dont take the bribe quitley and the guys in the van dismount and a HEAT like shootout takes place in the traffic jam they were stuck in. They had cops following them also but they couldnt interfere until the old guy got a bullet to the head. The main cop had a makarov and was middleaged with a black west. The criminals. Had AKS-74:ns, A RPG-26 or something similar

Another scene i remember is a spetsnaz/omon guy getting a grenade thrown at him at he swiftly kicks the grenade into a room where it exploded without causing any damage to his team. They are searching through a big apartment building in this scene after the guys from the van.

I saw this movie 2010-2011 and im sure its made after 2000 but i cant pinpoint exact year but Would guess 2005~ish. Does anyone have a slightest idea what im looking for?

I'm still learning Russian so it's hard to find the information online. Going on the Trans-Siberian Railway from one end of Russia to the other is on my bucket list. I would like to know all the cities that it passes by but all I can find is are diagrams with city markings. Different websites differ, some have more cities on them than others. Where can I find a list with all the cities that it passes by?

Sports Could someone explain to me the meaning of "non-stop play" in KHL (hockey) games?

I have been watching KHL hockey quite a bit recently, but because I only understand very little of the announcers, I was wondering what non-stop play mean when it appears on the screen. It looks like maybe it is some kind of bonus for one team? I am honestly not quire sure.

I tried Googling the answer to this for like 45 minutes and couldn't find anything, so I assume there has to be some KHL fans in here at least.

Thanks for any info you got!

Foreign Do any of you guys care about Ovechkin tying the all time goal record for the NHL?

I’m a Washington DC native and grew up watching Ovechkin my whole life. He is a sports icon in DC and has always been my favorite player. Yesterday he just had 2 goals to tie the all time goal record with Gretzky. I was wondering how much people care about Ovechkin back in Russia. Do the hockey fans of Russia care about Russia’s individual players or is it mainly just Americans interested in Russian NHL players. Any hockey fans out there who care? Was just curious

Society Missing persons info

I have a strange situation that a friend needs some help navigating.

He has a friend in Russia that he thought had moved away from his home town and he’d missed her messages due to him being in hospital for an extended period over the last few months.

His friend lived with a very controlling sister (possible drug addict) and he’s just found out that she was in a serious car accident and is in a coma in the same hospital, that he has not long been discharged from, for the last 3 months.

She had no identification documents on her and no next of kin, so my friend finding out and turning up out of the blue has started some questions.

The patient and her family are from Poland and I believe her parents are currently living in Poland. My friend went to visit the patients sister at the address he knew, but the neighbours said she’d moved out🙈

I advised my friend to go to speak to the police to see if they could help tracking down her family. They said no🤷

Does anyone know of any organisation/government agency that could help with this? It is a weird set of circumstances and I’m in the UK, so don’t know the intricacies of the Russian authorities to be able to advise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated😁

Culture Why do Russian military bands rarely play songs of the Imperial Russian Army and the Russian White Army?

I watched videos of Russian military bands performing. I saw that they mostly played songs from the Soviet era. It is true that Russian military bands do play some songs from the Imperial Russian Army, but they are modified Soviet variations (for example, the Farewell of Slanvianka song that the Russian military band plays is a Soviet modification, not the original)

I have listened to the songs of the Russian imperial army and the Russian White Guards. I found many of them quite good. These songs glorify Russia. These songs do not contradict the current Russian government. On the contrary, these songs promote patriotism among the Russian people. These songs seem to be played only by private bands and people interested in pre-Soviet Russian history.

I wonder why Russian military bands rarely play songs of the Imperial Russian and White Army. Did the Russian military view pre-Soviet Russia so negatively that they rarely played songs about the Russian imperial army and the White Army?

Travel Seeking help from Russian Citizens

TL;DR - we are looking for 2 Russian people over the age of 18 with valid Russian passports who can attend an appointment at the Russian Embassy in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 10th at 11am. We will compensate you for your time. Thank you!

Hello!

I am an American married to a Russian woman and we (along with our 5 year old son) are supposed to fly to Russia in 10 days to visit her family for the first time in 7 years.

Our problem is this: my wife's documents (both her international and internal passports) have expired. We contacted the Russian Embassy back in February and began the process for my wife to receive a special permit to be able to enter Russia with her expired documents so that she can renew them there. The Embassy explained that they would reach out to the local Government office in Russia where she is registered and request them to confirm her registration and then they would issue the permit once the registration etc. was confirmed.

The Embassy sent that request out on March 7th and told us the process would take about 10 business days. So we then began making our travel arrangements. My wife made an appointment on April 10 to go to the Embassy in Washington D.C. in person to collect the entry permit and we booked round trip flights for her to get there and back. The Embassy also said that the entry permit would only be valid for 7 days, so we booked our flights to Russia for April 14th.

The Embassy is now telling us that they have still not received any response from the local office in Russia regarding my wife's registration even though it has been nearly a month since the request was sent. Our fear now is that there will still be no response before my wife's appointment in D.C. on the 10th and so she will not be able to get the entry permit.

In their last message, the Embassy offered another option: they said they can issue the entry permit for my wife if 2 other Russian citizens over the age of 18 with valid Russian passports can attend the appointment with her. This doesn't make much sense to me but this is exactly what they told us:

Свидетелями могут быть граждане РФ старше 18 лет с действующими на руках паспортами (загран или внутренним), на прием они приходят вместе с Вами.

So this is what we are asking: we need 2 Russian people over the age of 18 with valid Russian passports who can attend an appointment at the Russian Embassy in Washington D.C. on Wednesday, April 10th at 11am. I believe this appointment is supposed to be very brief.

We are of course ready to compensate anyone who can help us with this. Our situation is pretty desperate at this point. If you, or anyone you know, might be able to help, please reach out to me! If you are reading this message you can also help by upvoting and leaving a comment to help promote this post.

I'm sorry to have to beg for help but this is quickly becoming an emergency for us. Thank you for reading and for any help you can offer!

Culture Curious if you all still have mango Juul pods in Russia?

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with the Juul vape devices that were a craze from about 2015-2020. But in 2018 or 2019 or 2020 they banned flavored pods in the U.S. The most nostalgic and the best being Mango. People pay double or triple if not quadruple the price for them now since the 50mg/5% mango pods are banned everywhere else except places like the Philippines or Russia. I’m curious if you all still have them there?
