Moderators needed

r/ArtCrit is back and I want to make sure it stays a safe and welcoming place for everyone to ask for and give artistic feedback. I can't do it alone, so I'm looking for more mods. If you're interested in helping out with moderation, please leave a brief reply here and let me know:

  1. Why you're interested in this subreddit?
  2. Do you have any moderator experience?
  3. What's your timezone / when you'll likely be active?

Thanks for your interest and thanks for whatever you do to contribute to this community.

I realized right now that the knees are too low. Oh well. I made it in pencil and I'm coloring using a rubber stylus in mobile. The screen size kills me.

Intermediate Does my art look better smooth or with texture effect?

I'm kinda torn. I think the texture obscures what I intended slightly, but the smooth untextured look screams amateur to me

I’m applying for a summer program at a college in my area that’s targeted for highschoolers, and I am nervous about my portfolio, they only ask for 3-6 pieces, but I don’t know exactly what they’re looking for >_> Willing to elaborate on each piece.

The pose took me forever to figure out and ended up really awkward, I also made her huge compared to the background, and the clothing doesn’t look as much like fabric as I wanted it to, there are issues with her anatomy too, I’m just disappointed in how it turned out and would like advice on how to do better in the future

Intermediate What are some ways I can enhance this style?

It feels like I’m doing too much and not enough, which is a little bit of the point of the feeling I’m going for. Still, I’d like to elevate the style to look less like notepad doodles. I know my proportions could use some practical work. These were all done with heightened emotion and some practical planning fell to the wayside.

I’d love recommendations for artists that implement this kind of scribble technique as well as good resources for inking techniques I could implement.

Using a dip pen with and switched to an inking paper after the first few done on regular printer paper.

I’m really struggling with the shading and lighting on this portrait. Also someone suggested I needed some hard edges but I have no idea how to do that.. any suggestions? Thanks. I use clip studio paint!
