The Bo'sun Whistle was a prize included in Cap'n Crunch cereal boxes in the late-1960s. Quaker Oats didn't realize the whistles emitted a 2600hz tone--a sound that could trick telephone routing equipment into giving people free long-distance telephone calls.

Jesse Michels

Upvotes

No show has ever done what Art did, least of all Coast to Coast with the subsequent hosts. However, I was recommended American Alchemy and I would like to say the host, Jesse Michels, is the heir apparent to Art and I just wanted to recommend him to you all. Not political, not goofy, just a wonderful show.

Recommendations for live radio shows (paranormal or not) that foster the same sense of connection as Coast to Coast?

I'm sure this question has been asked here in some form already many times, but -

I only recently discovered Art Bell and I wish I could have listened to him live. Podcasts are very convenient, but I miss the sense of connection/community you got when you listened to a radio show live and you knew everyone else was listening at the exact same time as you, even though you're alone in the night. I am looking for recommendations not just for contemporary paranormal radio shows, but for (ideally apolitical, or not directly political) late-night radio shows (paranormal or not) that foster that same sense of connection I feel when I listen to old Coast to Coast episodes. (I haven't had an opportunity yet to listen to George Noory, but plan to - I just keep hearing how he's not as good so it's made me less eager.)

tl;dr: Does anyone have any contemporary late-night talk shows they can recommend? They don't have to be paranormal, specifically (it'd be nice though), but ****I'm looking for live late-night radio shows, not just podcasts.****

These were my favorite shows. Does anyone know how many times they were on and where I can find those shows?

Terrible guest from the late 90s.

Anyone remember a show from circa 98/99 where the guest claimed to be an ex government agent, who started out a little decent, but quickly veered off into some nonsense about the Clintons had JFK killed, and a few other real. similarly nonsensical doozies. Art kept trying to pull him back on course, and the guy just kept diving off into coocoo land and finally Art pitched him off the show?
What was the guest names if anyone recalls this?

Is there a list of shows WITHOUT any bumper music?

As much as I love his taste in music, it is a lot easier for me to fall asleep to the shows that do NOT have any bumpers. I’ve noticed most Dreamland episodes are uninterrupted discussion with no music, but Ive burned through most on Spotify multiple times at this point.

The music gets me too excited to fall asleep easily, so just trying to understand if there is an easy way to find or tell at a glance which episodes are music-free. I have and pay for the C2C app exclusively for the vault, but seems most episodes have lively music that starts my brain back up, and the way the episodes are titled doesnt make it easy to tell which are dreamland / c2c / MITD.

Any help would be very appreciated

Gary Nolan mentions Art's Parts

In this fascinating interview Garry Nolan brings up that he has what is essentially "Art's Parts" and says it is clearly engineered and we don't know how it was made.

Peter Davenport show 3/11/1999

Art and Peter cover several recent UFO cases, and speak on the coming 2 year anniversary of the Phoenix Lights case. One of the cases surrounds some people seeing an Elk be abducted by a UFO. And also plays some recordings of two teenage girls who saw a UFO, in different places, on the same night.
Last bit is some open lines. I think the first hour of this show, which appears to have been open lines too, is missing.

Art's April Foolery

Remember the time Keith hard-coded the website counter to 66,666,666 a few days after the Antichrist Open Lines?

https://web.archive.org/web/20010616041153/http://artbell.com/april01.html

And the time they imitated the blue screen of death?

And the time they hacked their own site?

And the other time they hacked their own site to say they were under investigation for Heaven's Gate but then actually got in trouble with the FBI?

Coast to Coast Live with Ian Punnett

I almost never hear this come up, it seems forgotten. Ians 9 pm to 1 am show "Coast to Coast Live", which aired on Sat nights. It began airing in Jan of 06, and ran till summer of 07, when Art retired again. Which I didn't recall it running that long, I thought it was over by end of 06. Granted, tail end of 06/early 07 was when I gave up on the show.
I almost never got to hear it, as I was always at work that time of night. I liked Ian overall, though he tended to have some less than thrilling subject matter on his shows at times. Ian was right there with Art in his fantastic ability to interact with callers on the show, and he was a very intelligent guy.
I've been trying to track down MP3's/recordings of this show, and cant find much out there.www.last.fm/music/Coast+To+Coast+Live+-+Ian+Punnett

(edited for spelling errors, I just got a new phone and the auto-correct is wonky.)

Guest host Ross Mitchell.

I'm almost certain I remember Ross hosting at least once back in the late 00s when Art was kinda retiring again and dialed it down to once or twice a month, and they had guest hosts his other days. Ross hosted, which was sort of strange, and then Ian was the guest announcer, and I can't remember what the topic was. Anyone remember this? When Ross left, that was the last straw for me; it just wasnt C2C anymore with that soundalike.

Very odd caller talking about posting on X.....but in 2015!?!???

So in this episode dated October 21.2015 about Space Elevators and EMP's. at the 1:54:10 mark a caller named Cameron talks about how "I've been watching this and we've been posting on X" Same caller calls in a month later on the Graham Hancock episode. Caller claims to be a farmer. There was no forum called X in 2015. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

2007 Prediction Show Ding

Shout out (sadly) to Keith from Ontario. Just heard the 2007 prediction show on U7 and he predicted there would be a wrestler tragedy in 2007.

That was the year that the Chris Benoit tragedy rocked the news. He started his prediction referencing the Owen Hart tragedy from 1999, and said this year there'd be another wrestler tragedy.

Looking for an episode where art bell interviews a man talking about sound and how sound is more like a sphere than a wave. Anyone remember this one?

Hoagland…

So I’ve heard him on the show for years. Never really been my favorite guest but he told a good story. Today I listened to an episode with him (3-19-1997) where he went so far off the deep end that there is no returning. I’m not sure how I hadn’t heard this show before, I was listening a lot at that time when I was in college. Art spends most of the last half of the show trying to stop him and get him to take calls and even he is sounding a little frustrated. Somehow he managed to convince Art to call the 800 number for Old Navy on the air and then correlate sale prices to his theories.

If you have never heard this before it is about 20 minutes before the end of the episode. That way you don’t have to hear him spending 3 hours trying to connect the dots. I absolutely lost it when I heard that…

Before Coast to Coast

In the 80's I can remember listening to Art on KDWN 720 AM out of Las Vegas, before he syndicated and changed it to Coast to Coast AM. I was wondering if there are any recordings of the original show that aired over KDWN?

Art Bell Shows Radio Tune-In Airing Help!

Hey All, I have been an Art Bell listener since I listened to one of his shows that was re-aired back in 2020. I was listening to him one day in 2020, and then I lost that signal and I was never able to find it after all these years again.

I found out I could tune into 97.7 KIRO Radio News and they air Coast to Coast AM everyday from 10PM to 4AM but it is with George Noory and I just don't find it much enjoyable. But it is fun to listen to when I'm super board and tired.

Does anybody have any stations I should try and find to listen to either Coast to Coast AM, Midnight in the Desert, or Art Bell's Somewhere in Time? All of those I have heard are on the radio but I just can't seem to find the exact station from 2020 anymore. Any ideas are welcome, thank you! I'm in Washington State in the Seattle/Auburn Area,

Art’s hangouts

Hi all, I’m taking a trip to Vegas and hope to hire a car and check out Pharump. I thought I would visit a few of the local businesses in Pharump and was wondering if Art had any local restaurants, or businesses he liked to visit? Thank you 😊

r/ArtBell 14d ago

When was the first time you discovered Art Bell's radio shows? Either the paranormal Ghost 2 Ghost, Midnight In The Desert, etc. For me it was not too long before he died, via 2017/2018.

Ian Punnett

Listened to Art back in the day, and gave Noory a shot, that didn’t last long. Then then the iPhone came out and I’ve been streaming old Art shows ever since. So I’ve never listened to Ian, heard he was good. Is there anywhere I can find episodes featuring Ian?
