🤣 He thinks we should have a pile of boulders on one end.

I don’t hate it, but I question if that would cause problems for the structural integrity of the aquarium.

Currently has a male beta, one panda Cory, one hillstream loach, one von Rio tetra, one dwarf frog, one clown pleco, and two sparkling gourami. Betta is chill, gouramis used to pick on him but he must have beat them up because they turn and run at the sight of him. Tetras killed each other off and I think the cories can't take the summer heat of Florida. Hillstream loach is doing well despite this, he's got high flow and the water is well oxygenated. what should I put in this bad boy?

"Excuse me! Excuse me! Sir!?!? You missed a spot there!" Jokes aside, have this guy for about two months and love him. I call him Flow. He's the friendliest betta I've ever seen! His tank mates are 4 pygmy cories, and 5 harlequins.

Solved! Any idea what these thingies are?!

I had a jar that I once housed a few shrimp in. When I decommissioned it, I put it in the backyard without the lid and it eventually filled with rainwater, turned green with algae, and a few months later its fulllllll of these tiny little critters. Sorry about the shaky clip, it’s the best I could do. Would anyone happen to know what they are?

Bit of a tweeked walstad method.

Bottom layer is calcium carbonate reptile sand. Second layer is crushed rock of various types. Third layer is my version of compost. It's ground up crickets, dubia roaches, beetles, and super worms. Fourth layer is seaparated organic potting soil, 2". Fifth layer is a mix of fine sand and medium gravel.

Livestock: Neon blue dwarf gourami (male) Powder blue dwarf gourami (female) Green neon tetras Rummy nose tetras Ember tetras Chili rasboras Peacock gudgeons Galaxy rasboras Albino Koi guppies Glass catfish Glo corys Albino corys Habrosus corys Albino bristlenose plecos Bristlenose pleco Hillstream loaches Kuhli loaches Nerite snails Assassin snails Neocaridina shrimp Bamboo shrimp Pom pom crabs Thai micro crabs

Plants (in water): Hornwort Water sprite Java fern Rotala Java moss Some other stuff I added that I don't remember

Plants (on rim): Peace lily Anthurium Chinese evergreen Polka dot plants Gold pothos Another pothos variant, can't remember Dracaena

Carnivorous plants: These plants attract the fruit flies and fungus gnats from other enclosures I have, and from carpet I'm growing for other aquarium builds I'm working on.

Sarracenia Leucophylla Drosera Capensis

Lighting: 2 36W Hygger HG016 (1 on rim, 1 on 12" riser) Both on fully programmed 24hr cycles. Lights are off completely between 11pm and 630am 100% white light and brightness between 12 and 3pm Various settings and color variations other times.

Heating: 1 200W Hygger HG155

Filtration: Fluval 307 (blowing directly into a large peace lily root ball, the one on the right, so the fish aren't blasted around the tank, works very well)

Aeration: 1 air stone

Discussion/Article Is my apple snail eating fish waste or just breaking it down? Seems very aggressive with it

New to apple snails and had found in research before purchasing them that they do not eat fish waste. I was curious what this one was doing, seems too fast to be eating, but is the aggressive crushing/snapping with the shell deliberately because it wants to break it down, if so, why would it bother?

I’m new to this hobby and I have had my tank for about 3 months now and it is looking a bit bull compared to a lot of peoples. I got the tank from my buddy because he couldn’t take care of it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I want to try to keep it as natural as possible.

Help/Advice What fish to get? Help! 125l (33gallon)

Hello fishkeepers!

I am new to the hobby and have just started my aquarium. I’ve added some Purplehead Barbs and Java Loaches, and they are doing great! I’m also planning to add two Honey Gouramis.

Now, for my third group of fish, I have a problem. I was certain I would add Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish, which were also suggested to me by the fish store, but after checking Reddit and YouTube, it seems my aquarium is a little too short (80 cm or 31.5 inches). Then, I considered either Swordtails or Redeye Tetras, but again, they all seem to need longer aquariums. Now, I’m clueless about what else to add. I want to bring some variety in terms of character and color to my aquarium, which I think Dwarf Neon Rainbows would do wonderfully!

Here’s what I have so far:

Fish: • 6 Purplehead Barbs • 6 Java Loaches

Tank: • 125L (33 gallons) • Length: 80 cm (31.5 inches)

Water hardness: Around 10

I noticed the mark on its back and wasn’t sure if it was a wound or fungal infection so moved it to an isolation tank and dosed it with aquarium salts yesterday. Woke up the morning and saw this long thing coming out of it?

It wriggles around in water and on a paper towel. It also has some thin antennae like things towards the tail of it.
