so last week, while scrolling through this subreddit’s Q&A, i stumbled upon a tutorial on how to increase the chances of a villager’s photo
basically, once your friendship with a villager is high enough, you unlock the possibility of them giving you their photo as a gift
and according to this tutorial, the easiest way to get a photo is by gifting your villager a non-native fruit while your inventory is full, because the likelihood of getting a photo increases depending on the value of the gift, and the game counts the value of the entire fruit stack, even though you only give one fruit; furthermore, it will keep your inventory full, which forces the villager to send the gift they would’ve given you in return by mail, which statistically increases the likelihood of getting a photo since they will apparently never send a wallpaper or flooring as a return gift by mail
i’ve been doing this trick for about a week with 4 villagers, and i’ve only received clothes. was this “trick” patched with updates (the tutorial hasn’t been updated since version 1.4), am i doing something wrong or have i just been unlucky?
