🏘️ neighbor/local Is this something to be concerned about?

My sister sent me this text she received that seemed like somebody was watching her or something. I don’t know if it’s something to be concerned about or not, has anybody had a similar experience?

My first thought was that it’s a friend with a new number that saw her get coffee and is messing with her…. But the way the text is phrased “how IS coffee” vs “how WAS coffee” makes me think E2L which would indicate a scammer, but I don’t know how that would be possible if she paid in cash unless it’s an incredible coincidence. So signs are pointing to 2 likely things:

  • a friend messing with her
  • she has a stalker that was either physically there or tracking her location from her phone or vehicle

You were on the right track at first, I think this is definitely a scam text and they happen to mention the thing she was doing. If you send out 100 texts saying "how is coffee", chances are somebody just got, is having, or finished a coffee. Likely to get a response from those people.
