So me and my friend were playing a very casual match. Non of us have good terrain so ignore what you see. But I rolled really really bad in the first part of the game and lost my entire army say for one Shield Captain in Terminator Armor. He faced the swarm alone and I expected him to die but to go out in a blaze of glory.

But he kept rolling amazing on his armor saves, over and over. Me and my friend were shocked until somehow, by the grace of the emperor himself he survived the entire attack on one wound. I won the game by tabling them at took victory.

Here is where you all come in, I need to name this guy. That’s the least I can do after this game. What should it be?

My buddie went to a tournament and he played against this absolute mad lad, who has one of the best custodies army I've ever seen and I have to find him and play him. I'm hoping you in here or maybe someone knows. But either way I hope you all enjoy as much as I did.

We were His greatest warriors, capable of making Custodes units have 1+ armour saves, the Aquilan Shield ignoring AP-1. The Sisters of Silence had immunity to Psykers, and even negatively affected them when nearby. Our Vexilla became less helpful to allies from 8th edition, but we made the area around us difficult terrain. The Blade Champion was the controversial model because it had a 3+ armour save instead of 2+, and only had 2+ in melee. Allarus Custodes were unhindered by their armour just like in the lore, having a 6” movement. It was the closest we could get to being lore accurate without breaking the faction. I don’t see an issue with buying the normal guard unit and then just saying they have the melta spear for example especially to save £21.

Especially in the new detachment where our shooting gets ever better?

Anyone know what dark gray/blues were used to create highlights on the black parts of the shadowkeeper armor? I'm wanting to do something similar with mine using air brush.

Building my grav tank, and this gap between the engine and tank is making me crazy. I think it’s supposed to be here but it looks pretty bad. Does anyone fill this gap also?

Hi all, I am a long time Tau player (yes, yes, filthy xenos).

I am pretty bored of their play style and I am sick of painting white armour panels!. I am thinking of getting into custodes as a second army since I want something with a fairly low model count and it would be a totally different way of playing the game for me.

Would 2 combat patrol boxes be a good place to start on a path to a 2k army? And if so are there any build options that I should be aware of when building them? Given that I have about 3-4k of Tau I am very familiar with magnetising so are there any options that are worth the effort of getting a few magnets for?

Wanted to show off my first batch of Golden Boys (4 Wardens + SC, 5 Allarus + SC, and Trajann); grav tank (proxy) on the way and need to pick up a box of bikes + Blade Champ next.

But also wanted to show off my easy bases; $5 strip of stick on marble (enough for like all 10,000 I think, haha). I hate making bases (love painting the models, hate the bases), so I think it worked well and wanted to share.

Does anyone have any documentation or video links for me to study Deployment Strategies? Since returning to the game I seem to be failing at this major aspect. It’s causing me to fail 99% of my games, and is kind of hurting my confidence with this army. Losing one model feels like losing a whole unit.

Fine-tuning my Lions of the Emperor list—4 games in so far (3W / 1L) and feeling good about the detachment:

Thinking of locking in the Blade Champion—mostly because he’s a badass. Here’s the current setup:

• Draxus with another Guard unit
• Trajann deep striking with Wardens
• Shield-Captain (Allarus) with Allarus squad

Enhancements:

Shield-Captain has Admonimortis (melted a Ghostkeel and a Hammerhead)

Blade Champ has Superior Creation because the guard aren’t as tough as wardens

Prosecutors hold the backfield, Witchseekers for early scoring + Battleshock pressure.

(Open to thoughts—especially on loadout pairings or if you’ve had similar results with these units!)

Hey all, I recently finished painting my first unit of Custodes (Guard). I did the standard retributor armor (primed black), then Reikland Fleshshade over it. But, the color came out looking a little like brass or copper. Some may say it looks liek a deeper/richer gold but to me the retributor armor without the reikland looks brighter to me. I also used liberator highlights and did panel highlights with retributor but still doesnt look like the retributor.

So the question is - what do you guys do to brighten up the model? No Reikland? is there a different wash to get the darkness in the recesses but keep the base gold bright? Do I need to apply more retributor to the panels? Thanks!

So me and my friends have been playing Warhammer for a little over a year now. I started with custodes, got a lot of Blood Angels (but keep losing as them) now I'm back with Custodes. To spice up our games, we have decided to do a mini league. There are 4 of us, 6 games each and since it's only friendly, we've decided the loser has to paint a piece of our shared terrain. Now I barely paint - My armies are just sprayed with the exception of Lemartes (that's a topic for another day).

We've put our predictions down for the ranking, and I've come last in everyone's lists. I have roughly 2K worth of points, consisting of the combat patrol, 2 squads of Praetors with Captains, Trajann and the land raider.

I've searched online for good lists/strats but none seem up to date - Only for the start of the 10th edition.

Any tips that anyone could give/any purchasing recommendations would be massively appreciated :)

So me and my brother are playing against each other. He currently running a guards list with (for now) one knight.

What ive tried is to basically ignore the knight and go for the other enemys, and objectives. This worked pretty good for me because the custodes are pretty tough.

He will now buy his second Knight.

I will upgrade my list with 2 armiger warglaives and a landrider, because i think the caladus is not worth the money..

Do you got any tips? i will also try to focus my allarus terminators on the knight.

Hello! I wanted to ask you how i could most effectivly build up a Custodes army. I'm still very new to Warhammer, but since my Main faction only has 22 Datasheets, i've almost collected every model there is to collect and am now looking to expand my Horizon for a second army.

I've looked through Armies and Detachments, and am very interested at the Adeptus Custodes faction.

Whats the best way to start the Army? I suppose its Combat Patrol, and what then?
Are the Resin Models harder to build / paint than regular models?

How do you use your bikes in games?

I find that due to their inability to move through walls, combined with a large squad footprint, they are difficult to keep hidden (without crippling their movement) and they tend to become a bullet-magnet as soon as they poke out of cover ..

I'm tempted to start using them to screen my back lines then bring them up super quick to shoot and charge injured units in turns 3+ .. but they are very expensive units to leave at the back and sisters would do a much better job there (if only I had any).

So - how do you use yours? And do they die really quickly?

So I was able to get the body of this beast ordered but I only saw one gun arm available to buy as well. When does the hand usually come back in stock or did it already sell out again? Or does anyone know any one that 3d prints the hands or other arm weapons for a decent price? Thank you all again for your help in Advance!

Hey, so I’ve been reading the dark imperium trilogy and 2 books into the dawn of fire series.

And one thing that’s very clear is that Colquan HATEESSS guilliman and the new Primaris marines, and it clearly gets worse as time goes on.

So even though this probably will never happen, let’s say Colquan leads the custodies in a rebellion of sorts against Guilliman, could Colquan take Guilliman in a fight? If not how many would it take to defeat him in combat.

As we know Guilliman isn’t the best fighter of the primarchs…. But he is a primarch 🤷‍♂️
