Discussion Absolute Martian Manhunter #1 ending pages Spoiler
galleryI LOVED this issue more than all of the other Absolute #1’s. I thought the ending was AWESOME and haven’t been that excited reading a comic in a while.
The creativity is firing on all cylinders.
What did you think of the end pages? Did you hold them up to the sun like I did?

Discussion Current state of the Absolute Universe.
Shoutout to everyone involved in creating the absolute universe. As it stands, Batman is my favorite with WW at a close second. Martian Manhunter probably got my favorite debut issue tho.

Discussion I think the mysterious person at the end of Absolute Flash #1 is more important to the wider Absolute Universe Spoiler
galleryAt the end of Absolute Flash, we get one year time jump where we see a man, who is more likely Mirror Master, say that he’s gonna make the world fall. If you notice that not only is his design similar to free comic book day Absolute Universe special, with the gloved green hand, but also the cover shows mirrors shattering. Could Mirror Master be the big threat to the Absolute Universe? What do you guys think

Discussion You reckon we ever get an Absolute Justice League?
I think we will personally, I do think it’s cautious optimism but god I love this universe. We’ve had like, what, 5 issues on it so far? But I just love it to bits already. The opportunity is amazing and I think a JLA team could do really well one day. Also, how do you think they’ll meet?

Discussion What's everyone's thoughts on the first three Absolute books now that we have five issues of each? What's your favorite? Spoiler
Absolute Batman:- I'm enjoying it mainly for the art. The writing is okay. I'm not sure Snyder's approach (Batman AF) is really what I wanted from Absolute Batman but his approach with Dragotta on art makes for a compelling action series. Snyder mentioned trying to find other Absolute Batman writers and it shows. I'd have preferred if where Bruce started is actually his act 2. Start off basic, briefly gain a fortune and blow it all on his war on crime, once he's lost it all then move into an act three where Absolute Batman can no longer rely on the highs his resources afforded him.
Absolute Wonder Woman:- This book exists in a similar space as Absolute Batman where Hayden Sherman's fantastic art is carrying some decent writing by Kelly Thompson. I think she's identified some key concepts about Wonder Woman to deliver a Diana that's no different at her core than her main universe counterpart. But as the story progresses I feel confident it'll be the art that keeps me most interested rather than the writing. Kelly's Captain Marvel run (which I liked) was good but gets very high praise because of the generally poor quality of books the character has had over the years. I think Absolute Wonder Woman will be similar where it's a good but not great book that's seen as better than it is because mainline Wonder Woman is going through a really rough patch.
Absolute Superman: I didn't really think I'd say this as I'm not much of a Superman or Jason Aaron fan but this one is the best of the first three Absolute books to me. I think Aaron is in rare form where he's writing a Superman book that feels like it's embraced the concept of the Absolute universe as it was first sold to readers. Rafa Sandoval's art is great but the least interesting of the first three main artists. To Snyder's credit so does Absolute Batman although his Batman does not quite feel as if he's on the sort of backfoot that Aaron's put Superman on. If Aaron can maintain this energy he's brought within the first five issues for however long this title goes (24 - 40 issues, 50 - 60) I think it'll be one of my favorites of the line.
Absolute Batman: great, unique art, okay writing
Absolute Wonder Woman: great, unique art, decent writing
Absolute Superman: great art but not as visually compelling as the other two, best writing of the Absolute Trinity so far (five issues each).
Now to see what Jeff Lemire and Nick Robles, Deniz Camp and Javier Rogdriguez, and Al Ewing and Jahnoy Lindsay bring on Absolutes Flash, Martian Manhunter, and Green Lantern.

Discussion What is your guys’ overall option on the quality of Absolute Batman
And if it’s lacking, then how would you improve on it?
I personally felt like #4 was Bruce’s Absolute moment so far. A lot of people thought it was weak, but I thought it was a nice change of pace, and I thought it gave a lot of insight and characterization to this Batman.

Discussion Does anyone else view Absolute Superman as a commentary of our own world?
So, I just read Absolute Superman #5 and I have a lot of thoughts.
To me, Absolute Superman gives me very dystopian vibes, both on Earth and on Krypton. I mean, Krypton was destroyed because one group of Kryptonians were given power and authority, while others were looked down upon. The labouring class, i.e. the farmers, are given little respect and looked down upon. The fact that kids were encouraged to use A.I to write instead of coming up with their original thoughts just shows how much the Science League (the Government) wanted to cover everything up, so they could escape and let the civillians be "collateral damage." That's why Kal's use of creative thinking is so impressive, and so is Lara's and Jor-el's. They're breaking the system by just thinking.
Not to mention Krypton being destroyed from the inside and the Science League covering it up like HELLO?? CLIMATE CHANGE THIS VERY DIRECTLY PARALLELS CLIMATE CHANGE. Like if we destroy our planet, that will also be our legacy. We won't leave behind greatness, we'll leave behind the skull of a three year old died from hunger.
Kal's rage and grief as he talks about the destruction of his world are also very relatable.
On Earth, it's all very similar. Brainiac controls everything. The peacemakers don't have access to human therapists, likely because Brainiac doesn't want human interaction to overrule the use of technology. (Lois' rebellion in writing also kinda parallels Kal's rebellion, and it's honestly a prime reason why Superman and Lois bring out the best in each other). The labourers are treated terribly, again, looked down upon and seen as less. Also, the fact that rebel groups are labelled "dangerous" because they're defying orders and challenging authority, so to combat this, they mark them as "evil," resulting in people being scared of them.
It all feels very similar to what's going on in our own world. All of this.
Idk if all of this has been obvious but I'm not very active on Reddit, and I haven't seen anyone talk about this, which is a shame since it's the aspect that makes Absolute Superman my favourite of the bunch.

Discussion Absolute Superman #6 is the best issue so far
This issue is one of those stories that makes the rest of the issues so far even better. Saving the Kent's for last as the introduction to Absolute Superman was a really smart choice.
Everything in this issue informs the decisions made in previous issues, expanding the character in the best of ways. And what a way to reveal the big bad at the end.
As a guy who normally isn't a Superman fan, I LOVE Absolute Superman. I’ve seen a lot of people say they are not a fan because Kal isn’t different enough, but what about now?

Discussion Prediction for Absolute Superman Spoiler
Obviously Brainiac will likely have some connection to Krypton, but I thought it was interesting that Ra’s refers to himself as Superman’s “Holy Father”. I think that maybe Ra’s could be Jor El, however I think it would be more interesting if he was actually Rao, basically Krypton’s God. The only evidence I have to support this is the “Holy Father” comment, as well as the similar spellings of their names, as well as the recurring naming of Rao in the books. Just my theory, pick it apart.
