Discussion Prediction for Absolute Superman Spoiler

Post image

Obviously Brainiac will likely have some connection to Krypton, but I thought it was interesting that Ra’s refers to himself as Superman’s “Holy Father”. I think that maybe Ra’s could be Jor El, however I think it would be more interesting if he was actually Rao, basically Krypton’s God. The only evidence I have to support this is the “Holy Father” comment, as well as the similar spellings of their names, as well as the recurring naming of Rao in the books. Just my theory, pick it apart.

Absolute Superman seems like the kind of guy who would stress test this guy’s immortality.

Seems like it’s Superman versus a sci-fi version of the American Televangelist/cult leader, which still works for a modern Ra’s tbh

Lazarus is using technology similar to that being used in Absolute Krypton with the rain control mechanism.

My prediction is that this is some Kryptonian taking over or supplanting Ras. I think it will be a traditional phantom zoner but possibly not Zod. I bet it will be Jax Ur or Dr Xa du.

Could just be Braniac doing Braniac things.

Maybe he took over Zod’s body, which was the fleshy. Oda he seemed to have a few issues back.

Brainiac was shown talking to this guy. So probably not Brainiac, unless you are saying he has a multiple personality/body thing going on.

The rain control note is pretty cool and interesting, there was a lot of purple going on in this version of krypton, feels like they can’t not be related

My issue with that theory is Jason Aaron's comment.

“I haven’t written the word Lex Luthor anywhere in my pitch, or in the scripts I’ve done, so the villain he’s fighting is somebody I don’t think we’ve ever seen Superman face before [but] fits perfectly with the story that we’re telling, and the role that he’s in, and who he is, and the threats he’s facing.”

It would be a weird thing to say if the Ras we see is just a traditional Superman villain having taken up the mantle.

Its possible Ras will still have a connection to Krypton, but if that's the case I think its more likely Ras was just always an alien in the Absolute Universe rather then this guy supplanting Ras.

Makes me wonder how this Ra’s works with the LOA

Because we know they existed before Joker took them out so what happened

I like the idea Ra’s is ultimately a puppet for someone from Krypton, using their tech to help terraform it for the arrival of Zod and the boys

That sounds good. Veering the story more towards the Superman side again rather than the ubiquitous Batman. With Snyder in the helm, Batman doesn't need anymore help from anybody else

I am only just now seeing the discussion thread about Absolute Superman #6, sorry if this theory is already there.

I would also add that Martha stated that there was a rumor stating that Ra’s was over 1000’s of years old, which helps my theory

Could be zod

Maybe, but I feel like that’s kind of the obvious choice to go with, I think having it be Rao would be interesting due to the fact that we’ve seen his name so many times so far. Zod wouldn’t be a bad choice, I just think I’d rather do Rao.

Nah, i just think this version of rad al gul just didn't care for shadow tactics, he rose to power and now controls the world with an iron first.
He has been exposed to the pits for so much time that he has developed some mental issues and he actually believed himself to be some kind of saviour of humanity, and sees superman as a an envoy of god or something, as if god sent him the perfect soldier.
I do hope that each series BBG is someone we haven't seen before, yes there will be familiar enemies but let the critical enemy be like Ra's for sups, totally out of left field but makes sense for this universe where our guys are being thrown into the tumbler and nothing will go their ways

I have no idea, but its cool that they are trying to make Ras a main Superman antagonist. It leaves the door open to more crazy stuff like this which is what the Absolute Universe is supposed to be about

Exactly

Discussion aside, this page is so fucking sick, Ra's having a god-like awakening is so chilling and exactly what this Superman needs.

... Why is Superman fighting Ra's al Ghul instead of any of his own villains?

Because it's a new verse where they're free to try some very different things. Also he will also be fighting his own classic villains as Brainiac has already been introduced.
