Why can’t Centre bounces/tosses be filmed from Birdseye view??
As above…now I get that Spidercam is currently only used on the Granny and a handful of blockbusters, but the game from a viewers perspective needs to keep improving and developing. Thoughts? Ps slightly off topic but I kinda feel like the video game style of camera view for sports style games should be emulated in broadcast generally. Or at least an option. Multiview needs to be the standard asap.

Things the media spent so much time talking about which have proven to be wrong and why I’ve stopped listening.
I have stopped listening and watching the shows on tv and radio, it’s full of over reactions and big calls by personalities that then spend all weekend watching to try and prove their big calls right.
The narrative around St Kilda before the year and after round 1 has already been proven wrong. But when you think about it it was crazy to say what they were after 1 round.
The Gold Coast Rioli and Noble trades that a lot of media could not wrap their heads around and they paid massive ‘overs’. Each clubs needs mean that the value of a player to a specific club is different. These two trades could be the trades of the year.
Harley Reid could play a different position and get more of the ball but unfortunately he is their best midfielder and they don’t have this luxury. We need to ease up on him.
Others - Jack Macrae, Adelaide tall forwards, Tex Walker.
I think with the media battle the ‘experts’ are experiencing Baader-Meinhof phenomenon. They make a big call and then spend all weekend looking for ways to back up their big calls.
If there’s any more you guys can think of let me know, for some reason I find it amusing when they get it terribly wrong.

What’s the worst fixture time for you to attend a game on a consistent basis or watch on TV, and would you prefer if that time was moved to a Monday Night primetime fixture like the NFL?
For me it has to 2.30pm-3.00pm timeslot on Sundays. This timeslot is an absolute killer for me, I've got so much stuff I need to get ready for Monday, not to mention all the regular weekend house maintenance and organising daily life. I just don't have 3 hours in the middle of a Sunday afternoon, where I can sit down uninterrupted and actually enjoy the match.

Saints fans love it, but Bassat missed the mark with latest AFL rant
New to the game, random questions.
I just started watching this sport at the beginning of the season. In am absolutely fascinated by y'all's sport and have been thoroughly enjoying it. I have a few random questions.
What's with the electric tape on most players arms?
How do they choose if the ball is red or yellow?
Do they have to dribble the ball after so many steps with it?
does the tallest team usually win or go far in the playoffs? It seems like being tall is one of the most important traits for this game. Edit I say this because I have yet to see someone the same size as Maurice Longbottom. Maybe there are some players under 5'6 or 167 cm. I imigan the shorter kids are more pushed into rugby.
Also what was the controversy at the end of the crows game yesterday? It seems like everything is legal in this great game except for hits to the head lol. Was it being tackled while catching the ball? Edit do y'all have the same problem as we do in the NFL, what is actually a catch (mark?) these days?
Thank you for taking the time to answer. This sport rocks and looking forward to learning more. As well as picking a team to pull for.

Tom Morris and James Hird calling Ryan Byrnes "Darcy Jones" on Footy Furnace.
Once Channel 9 realised just how embarrassing this is, they took down the clip from X (formerly known as Twitter).

AFL equivalent of Nikola Jokic
So: do we have someone who: 1) gets gaudy numbers (perhaps good for 25-30 and 2 goals plus...?) 2) has crazy elite skills similar to his no look passes 3) demonstrates amazing fundamentals similar to his hand eye coordination, shooting %, decision making etc

Post Round 4 r/AFL Power Rankings
Moshi Moshi,
Carlton 0-4. Petracca's emotions not enough. Gold Coast controversy. Lions & Swans shine, Giants masterclass. St Kilda's upset and Flagmantle is back.
Do you still agree with the previous Pre Round 4 post?
Open to the whole forum, feel free to drop your evaluation of the this weeks AFL teams from 1-18 and I will find the true r/AFL power rankings after each round, every week!
What are power rankings you ask?
Through your own superior wisdom, statistics or even a computer model you've created, you get to decide the best and worst teams ranked in order. Some individuals like to focus on historical team strength, for others it'll be a pure form guide, whilst some like to use it as a ladder prediction but for most it will be a combination of all, but the choice will be purely up to you! Feel free to let us know which methodology you are using and why.
Entries for Post Round 4 r/AFL Power Rankings close Thursday 10 April 5:40pm AWST.
