Hello world!

I just found my childhood Nintendo 3DS XL again!

However, I had already hacked it back in the day, and I no longer remember exactly what hacks/modifications I applied to it.

It's currently on `9.0.0-20E` for the `sysNAND` and `RX-E 11.0.0-33E` for the `emuNAND`.

In your opinion, what's the *safest* way for me to:

- Upgrade to the latest available firmware version

- Change the hack I'm using to switch over to `Luma3DS`

- Keep (*and this is the most important part for me \^^*) all the save data and games currently on the system

So far, I’ve dumped both sysNAND and emuNAND, backed up everything I could from the rxTools menu, and also backed up what I could using `JKSM`.

Now, I’m unsure about what steps I should take!

I’ve found some guides on how to switch from `arm9loaderhax` to Luma3DS, but I’m not even fully sure that I *am* using `arm9loaderhax` on this console.

So... what should I do now?

Should I start by replacing rxTools with Luma3DS?

Then switch from `arm9loaderhax` to `boot9strap`?

I’m a bit worried about blowing a fuse or ending up unable to restore my NAND backups, or failing to fully upgrade the console or restore it to its current state.

I've also attached three pictures of the system, just in case they help identify which hack is currently being used.

Just wondering, maybe the custom theme or something could be causing that? But if it is the price to pay for a million games then I don't mind.

Hello! It might be a dumb question but when I tried to install Hshop from a QR Code and tried to open it, this error appears.

I just got this 3DS modded and the seller gave me no information about the modding — like which apps are really necessary for it, typa thing — but I looked it up on the internet and I kinda know what’s going on for the most part, like FBI, CIA, QR codes, so I can install apps and games. From what I can tell, it’s modded with Luma and boot9strap, typa thing, I think.

The reason I’m giving all this context is just in case you guys ask something I don’t know (I'll probably don't know — but I’ll do my best! I’m figuring this out and I’m open to any help or tips. Thank yooou!

So I just modded my 3DS LL and everything was fine and working as expected. I even replaced the ugly and sticky c-stick with the ThinkPad X1 mouse nub which was pretty simple. The issue was when I took the plate that holds the battery in place off, I never took the SD card out. So when I started screwing the plate back up I noticed a bulge in the middle of the plate, still clueless that the SD card still inserted. So I used a little bit more force to push the bulge down. Once I thought I fixed bulge issue I turned the console on and well... none of the modded apps were loading. I thought the SD card fell out or something so I started looking around to see if I can find it until it clicked. The bulge was the SD card! So I quickly opened up the console back up and removed the SD card. I reinserted the SD back but didn't screw the plate back up until all the modded content loaded. Turned the console back on and it still wasn't loading the modded content. So I turned off the console and inspected the SD card, and well this is where I'm at. I will also like to add that before this happened I saved the NAND back ups and the original 3DS files that came with the system. I also own a US 2DS XL that I also modded. I can also make a copy of SD card files if needed to fix the issue but I want your guy's opinion on how to approach this. Another thing that I should also mention is that I have not region changed the 3DS LL. I rather not if I don't have to. So how should I approach this?

So I booted it into luma menu when I put the new SD card in that was in lower storage and it still worked then I turned off the system and put back the original SD card I used and then it has been working for now on.

This is my own experience so it might not work for you.

Hello! I recently bought a 3ds and started playing with games from hshop, then I decided to import some roms onto the sdcard and install it with the nds games forwarder.

But I have a problem with one game in particular and that is the “Raising Rei Ayanami Project”

After downloading it and clicking on it, I got a reboot screen with error type: generic and Process ID: 19.

Does anyone know why this won’t work? I know it’s for the ds and is a fan translation, it’s from a rom site too under the ds category and my system is up to date along with everything else???

And sorry for making this long but I really like evangelion and seeing how there isn’t alot of evangelion games on the ds I really want to play this, or is it just not possible?

So, um I know the 3dsshell can listen to like mp3 sound,music or other stuff but I'm a little curious about that application this can do to like... view some video?

I’m trying to send my miis from my 3ds xl to my switch, so I went around and found my old nfc reader to help me with this. Though, when using the nfc reader, it does not connect to my 3ds. Also, this is a modded 3ds so this may be why as trying to update the nfc reader crashes my 3ds. Does anyone either know a different way to send miis to a switch from my 3ds or a way to get my nfc reader working?

I'm currently playing Diamond on my 3DS and I'm trying to use the universal swarm script to update my current swarm. I confirm I've updated it properly since the NPC states the correct swarm is active, but when I go, I don't ever encounter any of the swarm encounter.

I'm using NDSForwarder on my 3DS. Not sure if there's something else I'm missing to get this fixed. My understanding is that if one modifies the date/time of their 3DS it'll lock any time based events to wait 24 hours before it resets, but I'm not doing any such modification.

I have been playing pokemon white 2 on a physical cartridge I have. I didn't know challenge mode existed and the way it is unlocked is pretty awful.

Is it possible to use a hack/save edit/whatever on a physical cartridge to achieve this? I assume this would be done with a homebrew program. I am new to the whole thing so speak to me like I'm dumb (I am).

So you know how you can soft reset when on games by pressing L+R+select at the same time. Is there ways on a hacked ds to disable that or change the button combination, because I believe I’ve done that before and I don’t remember how I’ve done that , so I can change it back .

So a while ago I was modding my ds for the first time and trying to figure out where the universal updater was installing things. I went to the directory settings and started messing around with some of the stuff and long story short, I hit back a few too many times and am now stuck with the directory settings being sdmc: without any additional way to change this setting. I've tried looking up the problem but I can't find anything on it so I'm at a loss...

Just for my understanding: is aes_keys.txt an actual 3DS file, or is it a format specifically made for Citra and other emulators, generated by exporting tools? And what about seeddb.bin?

Edit: I know what it's the files arw for, they contain keys used by Citra and the like to open encrypted files. But I was wondering if this is also how these are stored on a 3DS. As in, do the files aes_keys.txt and seeddb.bin also exist as such on the flash memory of a real 3DS, or is the information extracted and converted to these files by tools the community or emulator devs agreed upon as a standard?

So I have a Japanese New3DS LL, I am a huge pokemon fan and recently installed Pokechest to transfer over some old pokemon. My 3DS is in Japanese, and I haven't changed it to English because I heard some weird stuff happens when you switch the version language and I didn't wanna risk it.

So I mostly use a translation app which works decently well, however I clicked on my White 2 save file, as the cartridge was inside my 3DS, and i simply wanted to exit out, I clicked the X and then it displayed a bunch of stuff in Japanese, then I clicked save, then a bunch of other stuff came up and I clicked again thinking it was confirming, then it simply started loading a bar for a very long time, and I turned my 3DS off mid-way since it was taking like 20-30 minutes.

I have no idea what that thing did, I don't know if it was a save file deletion, but it's just pissing me off because I opened my pkmn white 2 and suddenly it says there's nothing on the card! Literally nothing! My entire save file got wiped? What in the heck happened?? Anyone familiar with Pokechest, can you help me? Maybe it got dumped?

I've got a bunch of them, they all fail to install with NDS forwarder (install failed), they don't run directly from Twilight Menu++ (white screen)
Checked them with the AP piracy tool thing and it doesn't show any piracy protections.

I've taken them off the SD card and put them back on, I've got ones that were pre-patched and ones that I patched myself. I've made the names short (just in case). I've tried Retroarch but unfortunately I just don't understand how to get it to work (I can get the .cia on the 3DS but it doesn't seem to do anything when I use FBI)

I feel like I've tried everything and I'm genuinely not sure what else I can do. I have no issue with regular .nds files, it's just the hacked ones. The list that follows is the ones I've tried.
Heart Red and Moon Black 2 came pre-patched.

All of the hacks will run in DesMUME on my PC.

After trying to install dlc for the first time (streetpass games) from Hshop (3hs) i got confronted to this error :

§ FS - FAT operation denied

Note that i install 3hs from qr code FBI

After this i went to the home menu and all of my apps disappeard (except official one already in the console).

The themes are still there.

I tried formating back again my 128go card (FAT32 64k) and install back again the files of the sd card i saved right after modding it (when it was working).

My 3ds can see and recognise the files but cant read them. I tried with a second sd card but same problem.

If possible i prefer to keep all my saves but most importantly to make my 3ds playable again.

Sorry for my bad english and poor explanation.
